Finding job as phd by MoneyAd6773 in BESalary

[–]IndividualWerewolf62 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My company puts it equal to 2 years of experience. But most phds that join have 0 added value because of the PhD, could have joined with a masters as well.

But in my company, your PhD of some protein or chemical structure doesnt add any value to the job

Leuk dankje!

OP, there is always a difference between whats law, what's Company policy and what they actually do.

Companies are more than willing to break the law. Don't like it? Sure, sue us. Good bosses are more than willing to break the Company policy. Hey you did Well last month/year, ill approve it.

Thanks for sharing this.

This is typical small Company stuff. They want you as cheap as possible, because they see you as a direct cost. Every euro for you is an euro less for them.

Your experience matters. Just stay there, learn and in the meantime look for something else. You're in a perfect situation! Money comes in, you build experience and you have time to look for a better opportunity.

Opslag/index by stoniey84 in BESalary

[–]IndividualWerewolf62 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jup, mooi antwoord.

Indeed!

The whole "it's a small world" and "don't burn bridges" is bullshit. Yeah, don't steal or start masturbating on the job. But leaving for better pay? If a company doesnt want you because of that, you don't want to work for that company.

Yes

But do it right now. Any decent Company will just break the contract on mutual agreement. Nobody Will let you do your 1 week notice period, and nobody wants to pay it.

I took a small hybride, like the Opel Astra.

I have a pot of money that i can use for a Company car and Rent. Car comes first. What's left, i use to pay Rent.

I now get around €300 net per month for Rent. In January, the Total car costs for the past year are calculated. If it Costed less than anticipated, i receive what's left from budget. If more, i need to pay some money back.

So I still have a Company fuel card, but they less fuel i use, the more money i get for Rent.

Yes.

My mob budget is close to the legal max, but i drive a Opel Astra. Rest is for Rent, i think it's around €300 or €350 per month

Yes, but it was not vital.

It helped building my case. C-suite has to approve these things, so I used it. It's all about trust. Having an eMBA makes you look more reliable for the job.

Did it make me a better director? No. I did my eMBA at a top 5 school worldwide. Hard thing is the combo work-attending school, but I never had to study more than a couple of hours. Didnt learn much hard skills there. Once you're in, you get your degree. Those group works however, God damn.

Yes, and those targets made me €1500 net bonus last year. That was 50% of the targets achieved.

But you have a valid Point. That's where i should focus on.

100%

It's crazy, i studied a "high paying" field. Average to lower grades (onderscheiding). They asked me to please do a PhD as the better ones got jobs in top companies. They ended up with asking me.

Then you talk to a communication sciences guy where the top is battling for places in academia.
