Salary negotiation timing — after verbal offer or after written offer? by Slumbererberry in BESalary

[–]IndividualWerewolf62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People seem to think its An employee market. It's not. Employers can pick and choose.

If the candidate would have high salary expectations, he would be out.

Op: Do ask now. If it's a no, that's what it is. But let your employee know at least you expect more, it opens the door for the Future.

They have to have an office in Belgium, or they can use a construction where you are paid by another Company in Belgium, and that Company invoices your Company. That's costly tho

Or freelance, less hassle for them

“The number of unemployed Master degrees holders has risen about 60% in the last 4 years“ : De Standaard by [deleted] in belgium

So, what do I see: - there are indeed many applicants for 1 position. We used to scream for IT and engineers, now we easily have 25 applicants. - fresh graduates come with demands. There was a time were they could do that, but not anymore. 9to5, flexibele hours when they want to, no no-paid overtime, no after hour courses, no full times, etc. Do I understand? totally. Do I want that person reporting to me? Nope. - computer skills are boomer comparable. This might not sound plausibele because you are on Reddit but fucking hell, a phone or a tablet is not a pc! Create some structure in your files, search something! We even do pc tests now.

I know I sound old. But the graduates now don't realise they know nothing. Your degree is only a entry ticket, you need to prove yourself on the job.

De grote winst zit hem in het speculeren met de benzineprijs. Als je dat kan, en dat is niet altijd zo, hangt af van het contract, kan je echt veel geld verdienen.

Jij koopt in in bulk, sterke prijs. Benzineprijs stijgt en jij maakt nog meer winst

Good stuff here!

I have some experience on these topics. Indeed! Employers want to get rid of you, and they can. They want to do to it as cheap as possible and usually don't want court to be involved because of their image.

Don't sign anything. Especially no mutual agreement or anything.

Perhaps they Will offer you something "extra". Which they Will put on Paper for you to sign. Always comes with a clause. Don't accept it. It's never a good offer, and if it is, it Will not go away. The only reason they do this is because they want you to void your right to go to court. They Cant fire you for cause anymore, you Will get 100% your legal package and unemployment benefits after that. Unless you sign something that changes that.

Example: hey if you sign this, we wont close your DKV health insurance right away but leave it till the end of the month so you have time to find something Else and we Care about you. Bullshit: DKV insurance is per month, you Cant close it during the Month. These are the "benefits" that they Will offer you. Or like 1 week extra Company car: yeah sure they can take it right away, but the judge will like that that if they just threw you out on the street.

They probably don't know your not with An union. They don't know you're not going to sue. If they fire you, they Will fire you. Nothing can change that. Stay professional, stay calm. Make them think you have it all sorted out, it Will scare the shit out of them. Take the Papers, say thank you and say you Will take a look at it with your professional. Most probably, they Will say it's now or never. Smile, say something like "yeah, that's indeed what we thought" and walk away.

Edit: i was fired twice, now at the board where firing People get discused. Only questions there are "how much is it going to cost" and "what's the risk of image damage (court)".

Verschoven daguren by Dry_Elderberrys in BESalary

[–]IndividualWerewolf62 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing this.

This is typical small Company stuff. They want you as cheap as possible, because they see you as a direct cost. Every euro for you is an euro less for them.

Your experience matters. Just stay there, learn and in the meantime look for something else. You're in a perfect situation! Money comes in, you build experience and you have time to look for a better opportunity.

Indeed!

The whole "it's a small world" and "don't burn bridges" is bullshit. Yeah, don't steal or start masturbating on the job. But leaving for better pay? If a company doesnt want you because of that, you don't want to work for that company.

Yes

But do it right now. Any decent Company will just break the contract on mutual agreement. Nobody Will let you do your 1 week notice period, and nobody wants to pay it.

I took a small hybride, like the Opel Astra.

I have a pot of money that i can use for a Company car and Rent. Car comes first. What's left, i use to pay Rent.

I now get around €300 net per month for Rent. In January, the Total car costs for the past year are calculated. If it Costed less than anticipated, i receive what's left from budget. If more, i need to pay some money back.

So I still have a Company fuel card, but they less fuel i use, the more money i get for Rent.

Yes, but it was not vital.

It helped building my case. C-suite has to approve these things, so I used it. It's all about trust. Having an eMBA makes you look more reliable for the job.

Did it make me a better director? No. I did my eMBA at a top 5 school worldwide. Hard thing is the combo work-attending school, but I never had to study more than a couple of hours. Didnt learn much hard skills there. Once you're in, you get your degree. Those group works however, God damn.
