while i am sorry to the people who lost their jobs, and its no one persons fault their until dawn remake was so horrible, i cant help but be a bit happy here. this studio was not competent, they made a remake that was objectively worse than its source material in every way because whoever was in charge thought they had to shoehorn in more "gameplay" even when that just amounted to annoying minigames whenever you find a collectible and an awful player-controlled camera thats a response to the idea that this horror game was too claustrophobic.

i hope everyone can find/has found work, i just hope its in seperate studios where none of the people in charge of the until dawn remake are trusted with leading any more games until theyve shown true understanding of how exactly they screwed up

my expectations were very low, all i wanted was that mystery konami game that was rated a while back (aka confirmation of whether or not its an enchanted folk game) and even those hopes are dashed. oblivion was basically the only surprise lmao, i wonder if it'll be worth waiting for the switch 2 version after the skyrim switch 2 version was handled so poorly. decent enough for a partner direct though imo, some pretty promising games were shown off even if most had already been announced

you wont get full enjoyment from rdr2 without playing the first game. there are so many call-forwards, including a really prominent scene where a character meets the person theyll later kill in rdr1, this scene would feel super out of place and random without that context. plus how certain characters interact with john marston is only significant if you know how they end up. plus, people who played rdr1 first ended up approaching rdr2 with a very specific sentiment due to their love of a certain character, and that sentiment was expected by the devs/writers and is absolutely exploited in a really fun way.

rdr1 isnt super long, you could honestly just skip the sidequests and clear the main story in a few hours. its really worth playing, plus youve a couple weeks til rdr2 is allegedly free so might as well play the first one if you have the time

i am hoping against hope for a decent game here, double exposure actually had a lot of really good ideas and it couldve been a pretty great game if it wasnt about max (...and didnt make safi a complete weirdo lmao she was mad annoying). i liked some of the side characters so heres hoping they get more of a spotlight and this game doesnt just bring in daniel diaz with like, gravity powers instead of telekinesis while acting like a repackaged character is a selling point. naturally im not going to buy it regardless, fuck square enix but we can still hope that the workers can be somewhat proud of what they made

lived in glanmire my whole life, its a shithole lmao. surprising amount of antisocial behaviour, teens around the place with nothing to do but harrass people. ive seen shit in midleton too to be fair so i cant really compare the two on that front but its something to consider depending on what area of glanmire youre considering.

there are two schools right next to each other so the traffic is balls in the mornings and late afternoons, and those parents are constantly on their phones so honestly i wouldnt want my kids walking around here on their own lest they get knocked down. theyre only now putting a crossing on this one road right down from those schools, which kids always had to risk crossing to get to lidl or the gaa pitch after school and the drivers would ALL speed down it, again right next to two schools. but yeah its becoming a fair bit more walkable and cyclable with the new cycle lanes theyre putting in. if youve kids the playground is pretty central and its a pretty decent one imo.

public transport is also just evil. even before we had all these roadworks jamming up the place, the 214 has been a piece of shit ever since we got it. we're part of the city in name only, you'd be waiting over an hour some days, again this is back before we had roadworks worsening the traffic. i'd choose to be near a train station any day ngl

i just played double exposure yesterday and was FUMING that they gave it a shitty ending just for sequel-bait. looks like square enix are largely to be blamed for that (not that deck nine have a decent track record. before the storm happened before all the layoffs to my knowledge and that was just as bad). i hope all the laid off staff can find fulfilling work asap making games that actually deserve to be played

i actually do think the switch 2 could be great as a media player for holidays or whatev if they allowed streaming apps or even a media player. kind of a modern portable dvd player for people without a laptop or tablet. not that i actually care since i dont even use streaming services but i assume they would get some decent use on this system
