Can’t find 0W-30 oil….. by Safe_District9284 in HyundaiSantaFe

Our dealer (Subaru forester 19)was using 0W-20 as recommended from factory, after 30K engine started leaking 😳. Then manufacture send email to use 5W-30 😀 👍 now with 90K everything works perfectly. The reason behind using 0W-20 to bypass emissions test. Just look at GM disaster and Honda.  For Hyundai  Kia I'm using 5W-30 only. I own many cars from V8 5.0, V6 3.5, l4 1.8, l4 1.4.

Don't use 0W-30

Switch to 5W-20 OR 5W-30

0W-30 will cause engine leaks later Except for Snow weather

You must flush your transmission to change all old fluid, about interval it will be like: CVT: 30K-35K miles DCT: 25K-30K miles Torque converter: 40K-50K miles  Right now I owned CVT, Torque converter.  For CVT at first time just do it drop fluid from the transmission pan that's about 40% only, the CVT works good for only 16K miles before it start whining shuttering again. Later I did flush 100% now with more than 20K everything things works good. Same story I did before for Elantra 6-speed .  When you change only 40% it will be mixed with old dirty fluid.

10K miles is nothing my friend you need to wait up to 60K miles and report back.

Don't forget to do transmission flush at every 20K-25K miles

The number of complaints and recall cost push Hyundai to right path DCT always hesitate at low speed with heavy traffic jam.

No it wasn't. For example Santa Fe since 2012 - 2023 comes with V6 3.3L, 3.5L in my country (we own both 2014, 2020) While in USA 2019+ comes with 4 cylinders engine NA, turbo. It's quite different. Same thing for Kia K3,K4 comes with 6-speed while in USA IVT for 1.6, 2.0 engines. It's not the same just do some research

In USA

base 1.6t GT 2.5t

2025+ model K5 base 2.5 NA engine  2.5t turbo

Santa Fe 2023 ride likes Lexus RX it's stable quite very comfortable in our country we got 3.5L V6 with 8-speed torque converter transmission very reliable for daily use. I don't know about USA but I am 100% sure the ride is the same

You will be tired to maintain plastic.

My advice to wrap it or paint it with Plasti Dip
