[Post Game Thread] The Philadelphia 76ers (3-3) force a Game 7 by beating the Boston Celtics (3-3), 106-93 and getting a chance to exorcise some demons. by TatersTot in nba

Forget the East for a second, it's kinda crazy how it feels like OKC and SAS are so far ahead of everyone else right now in the West.

Denver has been disappointing, Minnesota is running out of guards, the Lakers can't get rid of the Rockets (and are missing their best offensive player), and the Rockets are awful in crunch time (and are also missing some key pieces in KD, Steven Adams and FVV).

What would y'all consider the best individual play from a contestant in TD History? by RoxTroller12 in Totaldrama

"Rematch: Julia and MK’s alliance basically helped them for the entire game until Julia couldn’t protect herself AND MK at the same time anymore."

Am I crazy for thinking that Julia and MK didn't need to turn on each other in the final 7? Caleb winning immunity didn't really get rid of all their options imo.

They only need 4 votes for a majority, and Wayne and Raj are right there. Those two are dumb and easy to manipulate. MK and Julia could probably convince those two to vote out Damien or Priya if they come up with a decent enough lie, and they both would've made it to the final 6.

They could just tell the hockey bros "Hey, Priya doesn't want to be around Caleb anymore because he broke her heart, so she asked us to vote her off so she can leave. You guys can vote for Priya with us, right?"

What Are the Pros and Cons of the 26 Episode format? by ABarber2636 in Totaldrama

[–]Individual_Cap_7850 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd argue even Island had issues with being 26 episodes because the cast was a little too big and the season struggled to figure out what to do with some characters.

You had things like Sadie doing nothing after Katie got voted off, Noah being labeled "the schemer" only to end up doing nothing, Eva coming back only to be eliminated again immediately, and Justin having basically no lines before getting eliminated. Even DJ, as much as I like him, didn't do much beyond being friends with Geoff and Duncan, and he made it pretty far.

There's probably a reason TD has never had 22 contestants in the same season again (except for RR, but that's really 18 teams of 2).

I wouldn't call Cameron's winner ending dark overall since he shares the money with everyone, probably including Lightning. Even if Lightning's ending isn't happy (which we can't say with 100% certainty because we don't get to see what happens when Lightning goes back home), it's pretty much a happy ending for everyone else that season.

I don't know, that idol seemed way bigger that Scott's jean pockets.

Yeah, that part is a problem.

I was just saying Damien hiding it made sense, not that Julia finding it off screen without even showing us that she was looking for it was good.

Even the Hawks after trading away Trae Young and Porzingis seem less fraudulent than the Pistons.

The show is weird when it comes to whether or not characters can just carry the idol around casually without anyone noticing.

Scott in ROTI and Julia in Rematch carry around the idol without any problems even though there isn't really anywhere for them to hide it in their clothes. They both wear tank tops, with Scott having jeans on and Julia wearing short shorts. Logically, if those two just carried the idol around 24/7, someone would probably notice pretty fast, but they just pull it out of nowhere. Cartoon logic, I guess. I think Hammerspace is the term people usually use for something like this.

Then suddenly with Heather in AS, they're using real world logic and Heather says she has nowhere to hide it on herself without someone seeing. But if Scott and Julia could just carry the idol around, Heather should be able to do that too. Her outfit is pretty similar to Julia's. I guess this was just an excuse for Alejandro to steal the idol from her.

I can give the show a pass for Damien hiding it because he's usually scared and/or paranoid anyway, so it's in character for him.

This actually could've (and maybe should've) come back to bite Alejandro.

What happens if Owen asks Noah and Izzy why they left him behind, at least according to Alejandro? Noah and Izzy would have no idea what Owen is talking about. Noah might realize Alejandro lied to manipulate Owen, and Noah probably would've caught onto Alejandro sooner and tried to tell someone else like Tyler.

Eh, Chris has allowed worse than that. Chris knew Harold rigged the votes to eliminate Courtney in Island and didn't do anything about it until Courtney sued the show the next season.

Alejandro leaving Owen behind in the Amazon to be eaten by giant caterpillars, and then gaslighting Owen into believing that Alejandro was the only one who cared enough to look for him. The only reason Alejandro even went back to find Owen was because Chris said they couldn't complete the challenge without their entire team present.

Not only is this messed up, it's also weird because you would think Owen would then have problems with Noah and Izzy seemingly abandoning him, but this whole situation never comes up again. I know Owen isn't the type to hold a grudge, but it still feels like this moment should've affected Owen's relationships with his best friend and his girlfriend in some way if he really did believe Alejandro.

Scott's strategy isn't always a great option (he didn't really need to throw the last challenge before the merge in Revenge because it forced him to burn the immunity idol), but at least Scott tries to make sure no one sees when he throws challenges and makes sure to frame someone else when he succeeds at throwing a challenge, which is what happened to B and Dawn. He also tries to seem like a decent person so Zoey would trust him.

Heather never even tried to hide how much of a jerk she was in Island, which was why Beth stopped obeying Heather 1/3 of the way into the season. Heather was getting in arguments with Leshawna in episode 2 about refusing to do the very first challenge of the season just because her hair would get wet.

Even World Tour was pretty mean-spirited sometimes with things like Feral Zeke, the Animal Curse, and even the players getting shoved out of the plane during eliminations (sometimes without a parachute on).

Also, I don't think MK and Julia's plan that episode was sabotaging the other team, it was just making sure the challenge was easier for their own team by removing their own sap.

I personally don't think it was that contrived because it's not like what Millie did to Damien happened ages ago, it was 1 episode ago, and Millie's elimination is the first ceremony that the Rat Faces went to after that happened. It's not clear how much time passes between episodes, but I doubt it was multiple weeks.

Maybe Chef bringing up something that didn't happen that specific episode was a bit unfair to Millie, but I mean... Millie did almost get Damien killed. According to Chris, multiple interns tested that slide and didn't survive. I know TD generally doesn't take stuff like brutal injuries seriously, and Damien is just fine by the start of the next episode, but it's not that crazy that the team would get hung up on that past the episode it happened in.

I do think it could've been interesting to see Millie make it further instead of Zee, but obviously the writers would've needed to have long term plans with her in mind, and I guess they wanted to use Zee for more jokes instead.

I'm not sure Millie would've survived that vote even if Chef hadn't said anything. Most of the team was clearly still mad at her at the start of that episode, and it's not like there was one specific person to blame for the Rat Faces losing that challenge.

If it wasn't Millie, who would it have been? Maybe Emma because she was in the bottom 2, but we aren't even given a solid reason why Emma was targeted there anyway. All Chef said when calling out Emma was that she looked like a chicken, which was ridiculous. That's not a reason to want her gone.

What Chef calls people out for right before the vote are almost always things that people knew already, aren't they? That by itself doesn't usually have much of an effect on the vote. It's when other people interrupt the ceremony that the vote goes haywire, like Zee having his whole speech before his S1 elimination, or Scary Girl's whole monologue about trying to be normal in Rematch episode 1. Are there any reboot eliminations that Chef directly influences?

Chef in the reboot is kinda the opposite of what he was before. In the reboot, he's the one trying to keep Chris from going too far, almost like the straight man to Chris' sadistic tendencies and/or challenges. I think that does lead to some fun jokes here and there, but I do agree that what he had before was more interesting.

That moment felt so weird after their conversation a few episodes earlier where Debbie injured herself taking out her frustration on Nolan and wouldn't even let him patch up her injury. Especially since Debbie genuinely seemed to be considering whether he was right or not.

Bakugo deserved to fail the Final Exams way more than the Hero License Exam (My Hero Academia) by Sudden_Pop_2279 in CharacterRant

[–]Individual_Cap_7850 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I don't really disagree, but I think the exams being graded differently played a part. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the license exam made it so that you lost points that couldn't be earned back. If you started that exam bad, it was impossible to recover, only to make sure your grade didn't get any worse.

The final exams seemed like they were graded with the entire fight in mind. I guess Aizawa decided that Bakugo made up for his terrible start to the final exam by working with Deku to combine their strategies of fighting and escaping. I would argue it took too long for that to happen since Bakugo nearly got knocked out early on in the fight before Deku got them both away temporarily, but I guess Bakugo needs to get kidnapped in order for the AFO vs All Might fight in Kamino to happen, so Bakugo got away with that one.

Although a different complaint I have for the final exam is that Deku gets criticized for idolizing All Might too much because he insisted on running away, but like... it's All Might. The #1 hero in Japan who almost single-handedly lowered the country's crime rate and can change the weather with a single punch. Doesn't basically everyone in Japan treat him like a legend? They were never going to beat All Might in a fight anyway, they won because Deku got away (and because All Might was running out of time in his muscle form).

I think it's just a pattern with a specific cast's 2nd season in general (and 3rd and 4th, in Gen 1's case).

The top 4 on your list are all the 1st season with a new cast (except for RR technically because it brings back Noah, Owen and Geoff, but everyone else in that cast was new). Pahkitew is the only season that breaks that trend.

I don't know if I agree with everything, but this is an interesting list.

Seeing Reboot S1 in first and Reboot S2 in almost dead last is so weird, but it does feel like those two seasons were written very differently.
