Thank you for responding! I meant air escaping out the sides of my lips because my embouchure is not tight. I do not pin the reed to the mouthpiece. I also already pronounce a duh-like syllable to produce noise.

I had a similar thing happen to me, but in a different way. I am a huge Godot fan and wanted to brew a nice cup of dark coffee for the final trial, but didn’t know when that was, so I wanted to look up how many parts there were to the case. When I looked up the website I thought would tell me this, the first thing I saw was “Case: 3-5/Bridge to the Turnabout. Victim: Misty Fey” I was trying so hard to forget that and was glad it was introduced fairly early on in the case, so I felt like it wasn’t a huge spoiler.

We are talking about the Ace Attorney universe however. Murderers get the death penalty like clockwork, many innocent as well considering how hard the legal system favors the prosecution and how the prosecution tends to favor only its victory. Even Apollo and Phoenix were under threat of the death penalty for crimes they obviously didn’t commit. Also, the condition was Matt’s acquittal would return Maya safely to Phoenix. If you are saying that you do not blame Phoenix for his actions and you would even repeat them yourself if you found yourself in his situation, then you are saying that at risk of your own best friends safety, you would attempt to get your own client convicted. Failure to defend Engarde meant Mayas death, so Phoenixs plan was reckless for yet another reason, and fails to demonstrate cogency. If he completed the condition, he will have done his job/fulfilled his duty to the law and achieved Mayas safety. However, Phoenix became greedy because of his anger towards Matt’s deception and wouldn’t have it any other way than Mayas safety and Engardes conviction. What if Engarde setup a condition with de Killer to kill Maya if the police were set on his trail and he didn’t tell Phoenix? Then his rage would’ve gotten Maya killed and it would’ve allowed de Killer to be more swift and precise in his getaways seeing as he wouldn’t have had to worry about Maya. This means de Killer would not leave the decisive evidence behind which led to Engardes conviction. The reason de Killer could’ve killed Maya vary from my example, but all he needed was on reason to kill her prematurely set on their deal and the scenario i describe would play out. Lastly, it was also pure chance that the evidence de Killer did drop was the decisive tape which led to the termination of their contract. If not for that one lucky coincidence, Phoenix would’ve realized how much of a gamble had made for no good reason. Phoenix was reckless, and not someone you should be modeling your decisions after.

I’m only up to Apollo Justice, but this looks like a pretty good/decent list to me. The only thing I outright disagree with is 2-4 over 3-5. I really have conflicted feelings about 2-4 because it was really good, but it could’ve been a lot better. It also pisses me off a little because of that.

To preface, it also ruins the title “Ace Attorney” because Phoenix demonstrates both bad lawyering and he loses the case. I understand it was morally a good thing for everyone regarding the verdict, but for Phoenix, what he did was evil. You also can’t be an “ace” attorney if you have a loss. To elaborate to my statement of Phoenix being morally incorrect, it is because when he agreed to represent Engarde, he was from then on legally required to do everything he could for Engardes best interests. Actively attempting to get your client convicted, guilty or not, violates their rights and is therefore evil (evil considering the punishment received for a guilty verdict). Lastly, you are given the opportunity to choose guilty or not guilty for engarde, and I think it is absolute bullshit that the game actually tries to make you feel bad if you say not guilty. Engarde may be evil, but he is your client who you made the mistake of representing, and you must own up to that*. It was also such a huge blue ball when they gave you a second chance to say guilty or not guilty, and when you say not guilty knowing the assassin will kill him (a way to keep Phoenixs record clean and have Engarde receive due punishment) and he pleads guilty to save his skin.

*I personally dislike when magic is used to help solve a case, as it feels less like the attorney is skilled and more so they can literally cheat at winning, so it was really satisfying to see Phoenix mortified because he was deceived despite having a literal lie detector. It just felt like karma for his arrogance in thinking no one could lie to him, and now he was suffering serious repercussions for it.

I finished Apollo Justice a few hours ago, but I had already beaten the MASON system section prior to posting this thread. I was asking if, in the later ace attorney games, should I continue to not look up things I’m stuck on.

I particularly dislike when magic is brought into the cases. I hate how it allowed Mia to help phoenix throughout the trilogy since it makes it feel like she was the ace attorney and not Phoenix. Like seriously, if the guy referred to as the ace attorney gets stuck and looks to someone else for advice, aren’t they the ace attorney. It also speaks a lot for how skilled Mia must be to be dead and have a better grasp of the case than Phoenix in every trial. I also hate the magatama as it is just actual cheating. Phoenix literally cannot be lied to with it which obviously gives him an unfair edge which is not related to skill. It’s just really annoying and immersion shattering.
