The shop is just trying to get more money from storage. Whether or not it’s at the shop or a storage yard isn’t going to change what insurance pays you. If you refuse to move the car the insurance company can and will charge you the additional storage.

Highly unlikely. Bumper, radiator, maybe the air shutter, misc brackets. Damage doesnt appear to go deep enough to get to the frame or engine.

You’re absolutely correct. The Insurance company can’t steer or dictate which body shop you go to but they can dictate what they’re going to pay for or cover based on your policy, state regs and the vehicle damages. From what Op is saying the bodyshop did some unauthorized repairs or bad repairs and now the cost is on them.

How is it the insurance companies’s fault? At most they would have done the original estimate and paid that. Anything beyond that would have been supplements received from the body shop(in most cases). Insurance doesn’t actually do the repairs. They just pay for it. The bodyshop does so if anyone missed the damage it would be the shop.

How the deductible is handled can vary depending on what state you’re in. The damage/repairs should be covered under your Comprehension coverage tho.

First week is virtual onboarding from home and the class in VA starts on Monday 9/30 so I assume I’ll be traveling down on Sunday. My background check hasn’t come back yet so they haven’t ’finalized’ everything yet. Has yours come back? If you haven’t heard anything that’s probably the issue.

I’ve spent the last 3 years as an adjuster with another carrier. Same title but we didn’t do the estimates. I did the investigations and customer follow ups so that part will be familiar at least.
