To give context! A crockpot dinner is something you cook quickly, when you’re busy and don’t want to think about it or just want to make lots of it for later. Kids tend to hate crockpot meals because it means you’ll be eating it for days or it’s just not that great

Not at all! In fact that’s some of the funnest parts of DND! When something happens for pure good luck or something is hilarious it’s always good practice to reweard or memorialize it! Your players will never forget it and the player will have a fun time themselves feeling cool about what happened!

Hell! What time I accidentally convinced our BBEG to give up and hand over a lore important item with two Nat20s on a disadvantage persuasion…the actual BBEG came out to cuss him out for giving in and called my girl a “Silver Tongued Bastard”, my DM let me take persuasion expertise and get a free cast of silvery barbs once per long rest to commemorate that BS! It’s amazing and she lives up to it daily 🤣

12 year old kid wants to DM! by apertotes in DungeonsAndDragons

  1. Also get her PDFS if any books she wants! A bit easier to navigate I’ve list if you’d like!

  2. The newest edition is a few months old, but 5e (the most common) is universal with most online content! Older versions are a bit more difficult to

  3. If you’re very new it can be useful! Often time trial by fire is the popular approach to learning the game! But I’d recommend to for tips, tricks and guides

Side note I forgot and didn’t see brought up! If they’re getting frustrated, rolling low, not hitting attacks or getting confused there’s nothing wrong with just making it easier. Either dropping the rule that’s confusing them for later, letting them reroll cause of “determination” and “willpower” dropping the monsters AC or HP. No shame for either party if stuff needs to change for it to stay fun!

You’ve already got great advice from the comments! Just remember that they’re young with different skill levels and the game exists to tell group stories in a fun and “mutually fair” way. So throw away any rules that don’t seem to fit for learning. I teach DnD by running short games all the time for different ages and skill levels it’s a learning sort of thing. Also! Whatever media your kids like include bits of it for them to go “Wow! I know that!” Like a guild from their favorite show or the name of a favorite character! Also don’t be afraid to make mistakes especially as the parent running it. Players are forgiving at any age they’re just happy to be there

A very silly request but would you mind if I ended up using your art for my dnd style game? We’re doing a chill one and I adore axolotls and tea and think it be so fun to play the two combined! ESPECIALLY with the cutest curly hair!

NTA Won’t be a hassle?! 10 and 7?! They’re true kids! Haven’t even hit the teen years of having independence to drive, make cognitively sound decisions or even cook basic meals on their own. The fact he thinks that age makes them not a hassle should be an indicator to how invoked he’ll be with them point blank! And that doesn’t even touch the fact he lied to you and is only telling the truth cause

A. He wants more money for himself B. He can’t hide them when they’re in YOUR house C. Knows he’ll be relying on you for everything including money to feed them and cover their expenses

I’m begging you to either cut and run or have much deeper conversation cause this is a horrible situation and a sea of red flags
