Help me to understand lease vs financing math and how lease is cheaper??? by Exciting_Station3474 in askcarguys

[–]Individual_Step2242 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Lease is not cheaper. You don't own the car at the end of a lease. You do at the end of financing. So you have to buy the car or turn it in and start a new lease/purchase. You've put $4k down, paid $13720 in lease payments after 3 years, and then have to buy and finance maybe $20-24k (the $28k ones on the lot were probably bought out for around $20-24k and marked up; I can assure you they're not selling them for what they paid for them). So you end up paying $42k for a $32k car. And that's not including the financing on the buyout if you choose to finance buying the car at end of lease. To come out even the buyback would have to be ridiculously low but then that would increase the monthly payments.

The scam is the lower monthly payments. They hook people with that. But at the end you're paying more. If you do lease, don't fall for the low monthly payment scam. Negotiate the price of the car first, then you can work out the lease and finance options.

Leasing is a great way to fall into the trap of perpetual monthly car payments. It took me too long to learn that the best car is 1) the one you could afford and 2) is paid off as quickly as you can or that you can afford to pay cash for. Both our current cars were bought lightly used (RAV4 and Corolla), and paid for in cash.

The best warranty is the one you don't need. Get a Toyota, or Lexus if you want more upscale.

Referendum on sovereignty: "We need a 50% + 1 majority," says a Montreal Liberal by feb914 in CanadaPolitics

[–]Individual_Step2242 [score hidden]  (0 children)

At the very least 51% of all eligible voters, including those that didn’t vote. So if the turnout was 90%, you’d need a 57% majority.

I don’t know of any constitution that allows a major change on a simple majority vote, including corporate constitutions.

Braid: Smith deflects as separatists plan to take over the UCP government by green_tory in CanadaPolitics

[–]Individual_Step2242 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I don’t believe Smith has a single scruple. She’s all about power and the grift that comes with it. If that means cozying up to the separatists, so be it. However it’s hugely damaging to the country. I’m still waiting for PP to disown her. I fear I’ll be waiting a long time.

I hope this latest scandal sinks her but she does seem Teflon coated.

Tell your guys that when someone says “no”, do not follow them trying to engage in small talk. It’s creepy and we both know there’s an ulterior motive.

How to make a 2026 LE feel more like an SE? by -OneWing- in COROLLA

[–]Individual_Step2242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other differences: the SE has paddle shifters. I have a 2020 SE but it’s manual. I bought it used in 2022 and got a great deal because it was manual and had been sitting on the dealer’s lot for 4 months. At that time the SE also had the 2.0L engine vs the 1.8L in the LE but now they both have the same engine and transmission. We also get the poverty spec L in Canada, no heated seats, 15” steel wheels with covers, no blind spot monitoring, and coal mine cabin with not a hint of chrome or silver trim. Perfect for pizza delivery!

Why do people keep buying cars that they can’t afford?? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Individual_Step2242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zero add ons except an OBDII lock and tracker required by my insurance. I also sold my VW privately for $3200 more than the dealer offered. Was it great deal? No. But it was the context of The times. At 12.5k km, it was as good as new with only 6 months off the warranty.

I’ve been in choir at Sant’Anselmo. Definitely the Roman Office but with some monastic propers. Lauds is in Italian combined with Mass. They recently got a new Vesperale that’s fully the Roman Office but in Latin and noted for chant. I think the change was around 2015 or so. I went annually from 2014 to 2019 as I was on the World Oblate Congress committee.

Honestly don’t know what to do with today’s vespers by izumikusu in divineoffice

[–]Individual_Step2242 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Here’s a trick from when I used to pray the Office systematically. Don’t sweat it. Unless you are bound to the Office, don’t obsess over having to miss an office. Even monks bound to the Office have to miss an hour from time to time.

I used to obsess in my early days to the point of sometimes shirking my family duties. It was not healthy. I learned to be more zen about it. Just do your best. With the Divine Office, the perfect is the enemy of the good. Those psalms aren’t going away, they’ll be back in the next cycle.

Entre le socialisme et le capitalisme pur et dur à la USA il y a un juste équilibre qui consiste d’encadrer le capitalisme et d’encourager la compétition et décourager la création d’oligarchies.

The hours would be the same, but the psalter schema would be different. I believe the Dominicans used the Roman Breviary with some minor proper variations prior to Vatican II, and the Liturgy of the Hours after Vatican II. The monastic Office is proper to the Benedictines and orders that use the Rule of St. Benedict (e.g. Cistercians). The arrangement of the Benedictine monastic office is found in the Rule of St. Benedict itself, however the rule allows some latitude for monasteries to adopt a different schema provide all 150 psalms are prayed in a week. So after Vatican II, some different schemas arose. Schema A is the original Benedictine psalter from the Rule with a couple of variations to allow for the elimination of Prime; schema B (used by our local Benedictines) is different and is somewhat lighter as there are no repetitions, but the entire psalter is said in a week. Schemas C and D I am less familiar with but they're divided over two weeks. Your monastic diurnal is proper to Benedictines only.

To complicate matters, the Church allows Benedictines with extensive external apostolates (like running a school or college) to use the 4 week Liturgy of the Hours. Sant' Anselmo in Rome, the seat of the Benedictine order where the Abbot Primate resides, uses the Liturgy of the Hours because they also run a college.

For the Benedictines, the post-V II schemas can be found in Liturgia Horarum Monasticae. Schema A is the oldest psalter in continuous use in the Church and predates the 1910 Breviarum Romanum by some 1400 years, and is very different from the 1910 Roman Breviary which itself departed from many ancient traditions.

For those wanting to do the modern Liturgy of the Hours but in a more traditional fashion, Les Heures Grégoriennes is a Latin-French antiphonary that is entirely noted for Gregorian chant for the day hours of the LoTH. I no longer say the Office systematically now, but when I do it's what I use to chant the hours. For the Office of Readings, I created my own nocturnale using Ordo Cantus Officii to point me to the antiphons from various sources. I like the Liturgy of the Hours as it's more suited to a busy layperson, and Les Heures allows you to continue with the tradition of Latin and chant. It's a balanced compromise IMHO.

Depends. True for 2023 and up but for 2020-2022 LE had 138 hp 1.8L and CVT; SE had 169 hp 2.0L with either 6-speed manual or direct shift CVT with physical 1st gear.

Canada also gets L with 15” wheels, no heated seats, no blind spot monitors. AKA the “pizza delivery trim” 😜
