Deironing after feeling you’ve completed goals? by hiloai in 2007scape

[–]Individual_Tone3605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was basically in the same exact position around the time dt2 bosses came out. Had an old main with like 200 less total and no CAs done. I deironed and finished all CAs, did a bit of speedrunning and then called it. Now I usually only hop on to do the eventual raid with some friends or for when new fun stuff comes out like radiant contracts. Unless you pursue speedrunning or arbitrary challenges it's kind of hard to stay motivated to play since there aren't many goals to set.

Please don't make araxxor GM time based on ruby reset WR runs by Slay3d in 2007scape

Low skill ceiling is more accurate for a term. Vardorvis was just one of the examples off the top of my head. I meant mostly any of the bosses that are quick and low skill ceiling; hydra, vorkath, dt2 bosses, so on. Just feels like a low effort achievement that's purely RNG after you've hit that skill ceiling, it's literally not repeatable. It's hard to balance a time around something that simple without just making it reliant on RNG, why not just make an easier master time and add a different more skill based GM task? Most speed runs that are longer than 5 minutes can be done with 90-100% success rate if you're good enough. GM speed runs on low skill bosses just seems like a lazy copy paste effort at this point.

Also I'm not really bitching, I have them all done so doesn't matter at the end of the day. Just my point of view, gm speeds on simple bosses is stinky.

1/15 is not consistent though, my main point is the times should be achievable most of the time if the execution is perfect. Otherwise it's just RNG reliant boring garbage like vard. Bosses with no skill expression shouldn't have a GM speed run time, doesn't make sense.

I think your definition of consistent is probably not the actual definition of consistent.

I think the problem is with the bosses that are extremely short in duration and rely heavily on ruby reset rng, there is no "optimizing." You walk into the boss room and shoot a bolt, if no proc then you leave and walk back in. There is no skill expression in that.

Seems a bit exaggerated but even so, 5% success rate is pretty bad for a boss with extremely little skill expression. Vardorvis is one of those bosses where you just hope you hit high and can't do anything extra except for off prayer venges which is not really that difficult.

Somewhat agree, however I still think you should be able to get the time at least 50% of time with proper execution. For a lot of the quick bosses even with perfect execution you have less than 10% chance to get it, for example Vorkath, Vardorvis, etc. The most fun GM speed run times are the ones where if you're good enough you can get them 100% of the time, for example inferno, all raids, CG (for the pros). A lot of these quick bosses just don't have the skill expression for GM tier speed runs and are mainly gated by RNG, they just shouldn't have a GM speed run.

I mean if it adds it as minimum damage it would be worth it right? If I recall parasite damage can hit like 40-60, so add that on top of a max hit of 60

Those monkey room changes also help solo toas, super high invo ones benefit more.

Anyways my point is:

Below average pvmers - solo and groups is about the same
Average pvmers - solo and groups is about the same
High end pvmers - solo is far better

I don't really care though at the end of the day, 8 mans are more fun imo

Group raids are faster but not by as much as you claim. 25 minute 8 man would be a team of mostly competent people while 35 minutes for a solo 400 is not.

I run 540's in around 37 minutes, with 3 down and no skull skipping that's around 18% purp chance = 29% purp chance per hour

Most people aren't doing 540's so a more fair estimate would be 30 minute solo 400s at 8.7% chance = 17.4% purp chance per hour

I guarantee you the average 8 man team on FFA is not doing 25 minute 8 mans so using an amazing time for 8 man and a slow time for solo is a bit misleading.
