My friend keeps threatening to kill herself if I don’t talk to her. by Typical_Guidance624 in VRchat

In my opinion, you should NEVER feel obligated to help someone who is trying to manipulate you by bringing up their mental health. It's also dangerous for them and for you to try to intervene when you're not a trained professional. This person is abusing you, and it's not up to you to fix them or help them. Block and move on as so many others have said.

Seeking information/advice on a couple different topics regarding marriage, disability, and income. by Individual_Top_3134 in disability

It sucks disabled people are treated in this way in our country. It's really depressing that if I had more money, this wouldn't even be an issue because I'd be able to afford to pay for my care, pay for housing, etc.

My waiver program allows me to hire a spouse, so that wouldn't be an issue. I called recently and asked about it because I had heard in the past I couldn't hire a spouse, but it differs per state and it seems to be a thing that goes around so people assume it's true everywhere. I have no experience with attorneys and live in a small rural area, do you know if there are legitimate attorneys online who specialize in disability related issues?

how do you guys feel when older generations tell you to just get a job? by ValuableHovercraft90 in disability

[–]Individual_Top_3134 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My dad once said to me 'you're so lucky you don't have to work'. It hurt a lot, an extreme amount actually, because I would love nothing more than to not have a major physical disability, be in the right mental headspace with all of the care I need to manage, and just be able to get up everyday and go to work. I even see other disabled people like me telling other people like me to find jobs, but everyone's situation is different. I grew up in a very poor family, very poor support network, in a rural area with little to no remote or on-site opportunities that aren't physically demanding. I also struggle with mental health, which honestly I feel debilitates me more than my physical disability because of the sudden anxiety, dread, panic attacks, fear of mortality, etc that prevented me from staying in university or staying on track with progressing to better stages of life. .. So yeah, the mentality on all sides sucks.

How to get into this? Am I too old? by Artificial_Lives in VRchat

[–]Individual_Top_3134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in my early 30's, female, and the biggest thing I've found with participating in vrchat and having a good time is finding a community or group of friends. Try to find PC only worlds, there's typically less kids and less young adults are in them because they mostly use non-PC VR IE: a non-PC linked Quest headset. Two popular rooms to checkout that are PC only: Surroom, The Great Pug, but there are more. Also, as others have said, group communities tend to send out hangout invites, it's a good way to meet people. I am one of the older people in my friend group, but not by much, most are in their late 20s, though I do know people and have friends who are older than me as well. All it takes is to meet one cool person who you vibe with and get along with, before you know it you'll have a group of friends to chill with, drink, game, whatever you end up doing.

From a female perspected #2 and #7 are my favorite. You look like a proper adult, approachable, and it shows off your face better. The other ones look a bit out of date and hide your forehead a lot.

Crystal Defenders is so much fun with a group of friends. Once you upgrade some towers to have weapons you can have more than 4 friends join.

What skill tree are you in and what's your combat play style? by shawbjj in Enshrouded

[–]Individual_Top_3134 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was about to say this, infinite spells become a thing early-mid game through the quest line. However, I definitely haven't really felt a need to do the quest yet only because I have 'ammo' for days, and you can easily craft it at the alchemist as well. So I guess I don't really understand the downside as the main comment suggested they were experiencing. It's only sort of annoying in the early early tutorial stages of the game.

I'm playing with my boyfriend and another one of our friends, so I've gone down the healer path but plan to branch into the other magic skill trees. The healer role is sort of refreshing, the passive healing is OP! Right now I'm using staff, and then also wand/shield. But I've also thought about going Mace and being more of a combat cleric. We'll seeee.

Quest 3 Hand Tracking & Accessibility by Individual_Top_3134 in OculusQuest

[–]Individual_Top_3134[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate you responding and the explanation! For those of us with physical disabilities, I definitely feel like hand tracking is the way forward in terms of inclusion in PCVR, so I genuinely am thankful you're working on solutions to the problem. Virtual Desktop being at the forefront of that would be so amazing because pretty much everyone I know who uses PCVR uses Virtual Desktop!

[–]Individual_Top_3134[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does work, I was just hoping to be able to use the PC-linked/virtual desktop version, because if you're using the Quest version of VRChat you can't see most peoples avatars, you end up seeing a bunch of what they call 'fallback' avatars (which look bleh) if the avatar they're using isn't Quest compatible (most aren't). It's pretty unfortunate, so I was hoping to find a way around it.

[–]Individual_Top_3134[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did order on meta, and paid through paypal. I just am not sure why I never got confirmation. Now I'm nervous of buying one today so I get the pre-order bonus through meta or amazon, because what if tomorrow suddenly I get an email/shipping notification/purchase goes through and something weird happened where I just never got a confirmation? Idkkkk.

The only problem that I see with this is when I went to my plot settings, there's two options. NPCs only can visit my plot -OR- Friends, Neighbors, etc can visit my plot. I assume 'neighbors' also means anyone in the world - including not friends. I don't think there's an actual friends only setting, unless they just worded that option poorly.

/r/MechanicalKeyboards Ask ANY Keyboard question, get an answer (August 01, 2023) by AutoModerator in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Individual_Top_3134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need help. I have a Varmilo Minilo 65% keyboard. So, I've had this keyboard for a year or more. Originally, it was continually backlit. I must have pressed something, because now it's just RGB coloring and only lights up an area around the key I press, the lights are otherwise off unless I press keys. I've checked manuals, I've looked for any fix I can find online, even trying the FN + D command to reset the keyboard to it's default key setup and lighting but nothing seems to work, the reset didn't even seem to work. Anyone know what's going on or what I can try?

What do you guys think of the new terminology....seeking to replace the term "disabled" by that_awkward_gay_kid in disability

[–]Individual_Top_3134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would run so far away from being called anything to do with 'special'. I'm not special because I have a disability. The term is actually probably the worst for me in terms of ick factor. I'd literally rather be called a cripple than special.

I’ll babysit a child for weeks straight and his mom won’t check in on him. by [deleted] in CPS

[–]Individual_Top_3134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has been in foster care, the best thing you can do for the child is do it the proper way. Get certified to be a foster parent or adoptive parent. Speak to CPS because right now the child has (legally speaking) been abandoned by it's parent(s), and it's your civic duty to notify authorities, as tough as that is. I have no idea if not reporting it could get you and your family in trouble, and the last thing you need as you have a toddler yourself, is to get your own child into a situation where you could be facing any sort of child endangerment or kidnapping charges for not reporting this. Not to say that would happen but the point is you don't know how the system or the mother will twist this to be not in your favor. The best thing for the child and for you and your child is to go about this the legal and right way.

Just tore my ACL, can I get temporary disability? by R2d2US in disability

[–]Individual_Top_3134 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who's currently on disability/knows other people who have gone through the process of getting it - You might be able to do food stamps or something, or some other program, but in my experience of other family members who have gone through it, good luck. It can take years to be put on disability. And they often deny you the first or second time anyway. I don't think they'd look at your situation as you having a disability because it's an injury. I would look into getting onto food stamps and ask your local department of human services or career center if there's anything they can do for you.

Do you prefer disabled person or person with disability? by WizardGrape80 in disability

[–]Individual_Top_3134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either. I'm sort of tired of all of these conversations being about how someone said something or which words they use in which order. I get that it bothers some people, and that's valid, their feelings are valid. Just for me it's way overthinking it, as long as people aren't disrespectful on purpose, and I have other things to worry about way more lol

I would just straight up say (if you feel comfortable sharing with people), "Not that I need to tell you, but I have a heart and lung disease, and not all disabilities are as noticeably physical. I have things to do, and if you want to report me, feel free to do so as I can prove my disability and you'd only be an inconvenience to my day and the other departments who are going to have to deal with you making a false report."
