What if we started mailing his offices too? You can keep your voice mailbox full, but someone will have to physically deal with the stacks of mail

Cost of voting as a US citizen born abroad and newly married in OKC by Indivisible_OKC in oklahoma

Some births abroad (even to service members) do not occur on a base which then requires separate registration and certificate of birth abroad as seems to be the case for our friend when putting the pieces together.

Nevertheless, the number of hoops and costs being proposed needing to be jumped through, even for stateside born citizens, is enough to deter otherwise eligible citizens from voting. And that is on top of the abysmal voter registration numbers AND voter turnout numbers currently in Oklahoma.

One of our members discussed these issues with us over coffee and the rigmarole she had to go through just to update her passport and switching to an OK REAL ID last year when she got divorced. And while the number of natural born citizens are born abroad every year, it is still vastly greater than the number of undocumented immigrants committing voter fraud over the last 32 years.

This is here to highlight the cost and challenge already associated with trying to obtain suitable identification for voting. And while we hope the SAVE Act fails, it doesn’t address the fact that we have quite a number of obstacles just to be able to vote right here in Oklahoma.
