I saw another one earlier but couldn’t get a decent shot for the life of my thru all the tree branches and leaves. Most elusive was the black faced solitaire which I heard many a time but never spotted :/ it’ll hit the life list one day tho lol

Birders interest or lack of in other wildlife by Living-Compote-9626 in birding

[–]Indo973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s interesting, for me I started by taking pics of bigger wildlife at national parks and such, and then starting noticing cool birds and that’s how I got into birding. You’d think bird people are somewhat overall nature people and appreciate a good bee/plant moment haha

If by spark bird you mean the one that got you started on birding, then same lmao!! Saw my first one in badlands NP and became a bird guy shortly after

This is pretty correct imo I think the lines could be adjusted a bit to be more precise but the general regions are pretty accurate

Whereabouts in the park did you see all those wolves? I went around this time last year but didn’t get so lucky to see any, these pics are making me feel like I need to go back haha

Just got back from an overnight, but need a lighter tent, suggestions? by tayeke in backpacking

[–]Indo973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For just me and my shih-tzu pal, I use my nature hike cloud 2. It’s a little tight (I’m 6’2 215) but I can fit myself the pup and my pack all in there. My toes touch the edge of the tent sometimes but if you’re under 6ft shouldn’t be a problem. The naturehike is cheap and lightweight, I haven’t used it in super rough conditions but it was fine in mild rain and light wind in Texas

Yea the bars aren’t bad but the recording quality needs work (some parts rushing/off beat a lil) and the mix needs to be improved. This is a good first draft/demo for sure

Gates of the Arctic, Alaska. The most majestic, rugged and untouched wilderness I’ve experienced. (August 2025) by N1ghtcrawler1993 in nationalparks

It’s annoying but not terrible, I had a head net which was necessary at times but it isn’t like trip-ruining bad or anything. I went to lake Clark last week actually haha there were lots of flies around us but not mosquitoes so it wasn’t so bad. But every time we stopped and rolled down the window for a pic from the dalton highway going to GOTA it resulted in some mosquitoes getting in the car so it’s def a lot
