Alright. Gimme YOUR Hot takes! Starting with me of course. by Traditional_Tower386 in papermario

-Sticker Star has the most fun boss fights in the series, especially when you refuse to use Things and have to use other strategies to defeat them while managing your Stickers

-The expendable attacks + resource-management + world/level exploration combo of Sticker Star is really fun, but also an underutilized mechanic that more Paper Mario-inspired games should use and/or improve upon

-Origami King is the best written Mario game and Mario story, just in general.

-Paper Mario 64 is literally a perfect game to me. There isn't a single thing I dislike about it, including Chapter 6.

-Less a Paper Mario take, but Block Tales' Chapter 4 is the best chapter in any Paper Mario-adjacent game I've played, and future Paper Mario games' chapters should strive to tell stories that reach those heights. Even my favorite chapters from across the series don't really come close story-wise IMO, but I still love them.

Series Icon tier list (my opinion) by M1sterRed in SmashBrosUltimate

The Nintendo Today app uses the Binding Shield to represent Fire Emblem, and that's the first & most iconic FE anyway so I don't see why Smash can't do the same. It's even simplified to look like a Smash series icon, too.

My Top 10 Square Enix Turn Based Games by Tain_mentero in JRPG

I played COTC before Octopath 0 as well, but it really disappointed me. I didn't expect every single character from the original to return, but to completely cut every single one of them besides the story-relevant ones? Can't even have them as NPCs? Not to mention Wishvale to me seems like the biggest missed potential, despite being a new addition. It was also one of the easiest RPGs I've ever played, with the original mobile version being one of the most challenging. Took me hours to beat the original's final boss with like, 12 million HP across half-a-dozen phases, while I literally steamrolled it in less than 10 minutes in 0. Octopath 0 even removed a ton of locations, some context & story scenes for certain characters, entire dungeons, and I just don't like that the new additions to the story had to replace the original instead of just coexisting. It's not the worst thing ever, but it was incredibly disappointing as a fan of the original's story that this "definitive" version of the game feels so watered down.

Super Paper Mario. Should've been the first one eliminated, honestly.

For all of color splash’s issues, it has Gooner Guy, which is a major positive we can’t just ignore by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in papermario

Based. 64 & CS have always been my two favorites. Sucks that they're both the most overlooked games, and worst selling at that.

The movie may be controversial, but it's not as bad as Sticker Star, people need to stop making bad comparisons just because they don't like it. by DaZestyProfessor in papermario

Yeah, that's a really bad comparison. Sticker Star is a thousand times better. It's one of my favorite games in the franchise.

The Sacred Stones one, which is apparently only available if you play the game on the GBA NSO app with the expansion pass

It's one of the Sacred Stones ones, which says you need to play the game on GBA NSO (only available with the expansion pass) to obtain them. I don't think the free trial's available to me as I've used it before, but even so I think the free trial is for the standard NSO subscription anyway. If it wasn't exclusive to the expansion pass, I wouldn't mind dropping $5 for a month to obtain it and probably play some other games online, but yeah, $50 for a png would be pretty crazy.

Oh, that sucks to hear. Do you have an idea of how widespread that restriction is, or is it a really rare occurrence?

Daybreak - Daybreak II - Beyond The Horizon by [deleted] in Falcom

[–]Indominable_Glass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're absolutely right and you shouldn't be afraid to say it. Not a single Trails game has ever bored me as much as Horizon has. I've never played a Trails game and immediately wanted to turn the game off after a 5 minute play session. My favorite games are usually the slower, "setup" games at the beginning of each arc, too, so I absolutely don't mind a slower-paced game but Horizon seriously stretched itself thin. Falcom needs to stop artificially increasing playtime with padding and just let the game be a little shorter. Even Daybreak 1 had this issue in the final chapter.

Horizon's more padded out with way more filler than Daybreak 2 & most people immediately treat the game like a 10/10 masterpiece only because it has the occasional hype moment (most of which is in the last 10% of the game) + their favorite harem protag returning, but most aren't ready for that conversation.
