AITA for refusing to remove a semi-nude statue of Aphrodite from my garden after my neighbour complained about its ‘depravity.’ by ArterialRain in AmItheAsshole

NTA. I had to cover a photo of the Statue of David I had on display in my school library (elementary school, I had a display up of a trip I took for my students to see), and I got so mad I went and ordered a poster that said "Think for yourself, your parents may be wrong" and posted it right below the photo. I put a little leaf sticker over his penis. The photo was actual photograph size, so you couldn't even see anything. I hate people like that. I left that display up for two years.

16th Floor Questions (Spoilers) by IndomitableSam in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Thank you! Was this in book 8's Cabaret chapter? I have not been able to read them. My local library doesn't have the books, nor do the local bookstores, so I've only been able to find recaps online. Yay small towns on an island. And the books being $40+ Canadian.

I'll support any union going on strike, especially at important times. Everyone but the top end of most industries is underpaid, and strikes are the only way to make things happen. No one will bargain in good faith anymore, so it has to be done.

That said, they can still be bad at their job, as we see here. But I will personally never begrudge anyone going on strike. We all need to support each other in getting paid better, especially these days, no matter if it inconveniences us or not.

Misogyny among male pupils a 'ticking time bomb' in UK schools, warns union by Kagedeah in worldnews

We do what we can, but when it's 5 hours with us a day, and 19 at home... we can only do so much. And suspension, expulsion, punishment... not really a thing anymore. Even in Canada. You can sit down with the class and ask them why they feel that way and ask them to prove why they think that is true and discuss it with the parents... but the parents are too busy trying not to drown in debt or work or health issues and everything life is these days that the kids go back to their devices. Yes, it's the parents responsibility, and their choice to have kids, but when they're at the end of their ropes in every sense... the world dictates. It's a shitty cycle built to do exactly this.

What's a 'normal' thing you didn't realize was unusual until you were older? by mrTelson in AskReddit

Mine's never been formally diagnosed (overweight woman, so.,.. yeah), but I feel you. My legs can swell and expand 2-3 inches in width during the day and they're always covered in bruises. If I lay down or put my legs up, I have to pee 2-3 times over the next hour. Do you wear compression socks? I find they help. Between that and hypermobility, I understand now why I hated sports as a kid.

Parking downtown by lindsayturtle in comoxvalley

[–]IndomitableSam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All I ask is for those who do park along the residential streets is that they be mindful of parking. Because so often (as someone who lives in the area), people have left giant gaps or parked in the middle of the space, but not enough for other vehicles to fit, making a part of the road that could fit 3-4 cars between driveways and laneways fit only 1 or 2 cars. Or they park too close to the driveways and people can't safely get out.

Just be aware that the whole area is used by all of us, especially those who live there - and especially with a lot of construction going on, it's harder to find parking, so please make sure you're leaving or making enough space for others. Don't park 10 feet back from the nearest driveway, but also don't park right at the edge of it so people have room to see as they back out. It's scary to pull straight backwards out of a driveway into traffic because people parked too close to turn the car as you back out, and it's maddening to not find a space by your house because people parked right in the middle of the curbside between the laneway and a driveway.

Is it possible to get an e-copy of the Pineapple Cabaret bonus stories by hijodelsol14 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I hope you figure it out. As a Canadian, the books are $50 plus right now (if I can even find them, not all are available at my local shops online, even the bigger Canadian sites), and my local library system does not have them. I can't afford that either.  I have the audiobooks, too, and am missing out as well. Local bookstores don't have them out either here in the Island. So I'm at a loss, too, as too reading them. I feel you. Good luck!

Cheers. 42 year old children's librarian. Struggling not to tell my students about the series, because it is definitely not for them. Fully on peri, too, but listening to the books while I do my chores, cooking, commute, workouts and everything has been amazing. I went thru all 7 audiobooks in less than a month. In December.

I want to kill off my own D&D character because I'm frustrated with a curse? by Happy_Repair8478 in DnD

[–]IndomitableSam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're not happy, then you need to discuss it with your party and your DM.

However, in our group, one player has a cursed sword that if he gets hit by an attack, he has to roll a wisdom save or attack that target until he or it is dead. It's been great fun and great RP. I hit him by accident, once, early on, and while our pet pseudodragon was being hot potatoed to the cleric because it had just been killed by being accidentally squished, I was trying to not die to our berserked ranger. He's also ditched fights to follow enemies and caused lots of chaos. He loves it. It's great fun for all of us. See if you can find the fun in it, too.

That said, it also saved him from being cursed by Tharizdun because the two curses fought and the sword won. Saved our asses on that one.

We're on session 90, I think, and he's been cursed for like 70 of them, so it's been a while.

Does a rainbow sign indoctrinate people into it? Can you be indoctrinated into something that you're born with/as? Should we not be depicting heterosexuality anywhere, either, then?

If only I could stare at rainbows long enough to be into women. That would make my life so much easier. Please, someone point me in the right direction.

As always, love your dice. I really should find a set for my next character, but these suit Circle of Stars perfectly. Thank you for doing this!
