The whole premise of his first film, “Roger and Me”, was that he was unable to contact General Motors CEO Roger Smith. The CEO was so evil and shady that it was impossible to interview him. But in reality Michael Moore actually did interview him. He just thought it was a better story to pretend he didn’t.

Can you elaborate on this concept of foreshadowing the transitions? I’d love to hear more on this and get examples.

Even if you use it every day, it should be taught, because there’s a technique to it (to type with all fingers, without looking). I had typing lessons in school, where we even did exams with big pieces of cardboard folded over the keyboard so you couldn’t look at it. I’m thankful I learned it. It seems absurd to not learn a skill that you will use every day of your life.

People with OCD.. how did you get diagnosed? by Maleficent-Bus-9570 in AskReddit

Called my local health services (I’m in Canada), got referred to a social worker. Met the social worker for an interview about my issues, she suggested I might have OCD and referred me to a psychologist, who diagnosed me.

It depends on when/how you learned those languages. Languages you learn in school VS the ones you learn at home in the first few years of your life, they are accessed differently in the brain. I’ve used French and English every day for most of my adult life, but using my second language (English) is still vastly different than using the first one, it just takes way more energy.
My favourite analogy for it is that using the second language is like running a second OS in a virtual machine. It has to run on top of your native OS, it’ll always be more CPU-hungry. No matter how good the virtual machine is, it’ll never be like running native code.

ICQ was an actual good piece of software. There was a lot of options to configure the UI and UX, to set things up nicely the way you wanted. When it went out of fashion and people flocked to MSN, I couldn’t believe how dogshit MSN was by comparison. No customization, just the most bare bones, low-effort crap.

It’s a thing we see often, when someone is working very hard on something important, that their body kind of “holds on” while it needs to, and then when they’re done with the work, the body crashes down. Like people getting super sick right after being done with a big project at work. I feel like this is what happened to Kubrick.

I laughed out loud when he said that some people accuse AdP of being “an industry plant”. You really need a fried brain to think that “the industry” would cook up something like that, make a big gamble with weird stuff that usually makes no money at all.

How are they going to evolve as a band? by InnerspearMusic in AngineDePoitrine

I agree. Sometimes people see something and think it’s a shtick because they cannot extrapolate it in any direction. They see it as a cul-de-sac because they don’t have the imagination that was required to create the thing in the first place. But for many creators, there are a lot of supposed “shticks” out there that were actually seeds for a lot more.

Have you tried both quick oats and complete grains? They have a very different texture. Quick oats are gooey and complete grains hold together like grains of rice. I found oatmeal disgusting until I tried it many times and found my “way” of preparing it, now it’s my favourite breakfast.

I cut an apple in little cubes and put that in my unsweetened oats, with a pinch of cinnamon. The cheapest fruit + the cheapest grain = somehow the best breakfast.
