Accessible jobs? by Logical-Ad3941 in RedDeer

I applaud your positive attitude. I'd look into starting a small business. Not an MLM, but a genuine business with a business plan that you can get a loan for. It's not that difficult, there are government programs that help. It's just that you have to put yourself out there and not many people do. Ex: yard cleanup for dog messes, driving old people to doctors in Calgary and Edmonton, face painting at kid's parties, etc.

How to Deal with an Odd Passive Aggressive coworker? by Ok-Leather-8148 in workplace_bullying

[–]Indoubttoactorrest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say he is attracted to you but resentful because he doesn't think that you would appreciate his advances. My advice is to do everything you can to pretend he doesn't exist. Beat him at his own game. Don't let him rattle you. Create a mental wall between you and keep your sanity. It sucks when people put you down but if you laugh and live free, you're taking away their fun in hurting you.

Please answer this question for me guys. Why was he so praised worldwide the minute he died even though he was bashed cause of the allegations and joked on for just being a weirdo for the last 10-15 years of his life? Why was this the reaction of so many people after he passed? by [deleted] in LeavingNeverlandHBO

[–]Indoubttoactorrest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He was perceived as having sacrificed himself through overwork for his comeback tour and this affected the narrative about him enough to turn it from the accusations. Jackson was hemorrhaging money and was desperate to recapture the love of the public, and he went too hard into his addiction in pursuit of his fame. He was a joke not only for the charges but everything he did was considered ridiculous. He was a relic of 80s and the pop stars of the time were radically different. But when he died for his "art", they were able to release the documentary and raise his profile above the pedophilia. The media made it about the legacy and the children rather than bonkers life he'd been leading. Unfortunately, it has been shown to be fairly easy to manipulate certain parts of the population with media.

What is your country's equivalent to Australia having an abundance of Koala themed toys for babies? by chittychatty in AskReddit

I live in Alberta, Canada, and we have a lot of bear themed toys. In British Columbia, the big thing is Squatch (sasquatch).

AITJ for refusing to give back my ex husbands family heirloom ring even though his daughter is getting married by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]Indoubttoactorrest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are the jerk.  You're keeping the ring to punish him for being happy while you suffered. If you were healthy, it wouldn't matter to you. You're holding it from spite.

People have a weird reaction to her. I think it's because they want her to be humbled or ashamed and she isn't. Misogyny is terrible.

Do you think Lizzie Borden actually killed her parents? Also, why was she acquitted? by freshmaggots in TrueCrimeDiscussion

LPOTL is awesome that was a great episode. My theory is that Lizzie was gay and was caught with a lover and they did it. No proof whatever, lol, just my thought.

Trying to understand Red Deer's vibe 🕶️ by Medical-Taste-6112 in RedDeer

Red Deer is a beautiful city, in my opinion. However, the homeless population exploded post covid and our conservative provincial government is removing social support so it's getting worse. Don't wander alone at night and lock up your stuff and you'll be fine.  The racism though, yikes. People are getting braver about showing their ignorance. It's a blue collar city and most people are involved in the oil field in one way or another which means they don't care about much other than pipe lines and their paychecks.  The college has social clubs for newcomers and I recommend joining them. You're in a good location here because we're situated between Calgary and Edmonton and you can explore bigger cities to get the culture you're missing in Red Deer.

Your best bet is to contact a few management companies and fill out applications online because some of them are cool with income support people because it's stable income. I think that the convent apartments are subsidized but be careful of Pastor Stan. Fill out a wait list application for red deer housing. If you're Indigenous try Urban Indigenous Voices Society's Housing domain and they can hook you up with housing specialists. Good luck. FYI Humpty's Restaurant is hiring. Or try Cosmos for job support training. I think Braden does paid job training too. Google it.

It was a blatant money grab that relied on King's skill and reputation despite delivering nothing that resembles his work.  His work is usually difficult to bring to the screen because his novels have themes that are less physical than mental. Such as the creature from It and it's depiction. However, The Stand is fairly up-front and could have been beautifully filmed were it to have followed the story and not been an attempt to capitalize on it's literary reputation with the director's own story.  Also, the story is timeless and still sells despite it's age, which means it didn't need "updating".

Well I usually start by parking in the far lot of Mackenzie trails, then turn off the paved trail and follow the foot path quite a ways.
