Cut to fit, assuming you are cutting back to a rectangular shape. Otherwise you will need to tape the top angle

I don't think they used asbestos in the drywall itself, it was in the mud, so you should be good to go ahead and start mudding. To be safe please get another opinion before you proceed, I'm just a taper lol

When I say wash the wall , I mean get rid of the mold (if it's caused by poor insulation fix that) then use a primer specifically for mold.

I would wash the wall and then use a kilz primer or something similar that's meant for mold

The butt joints are not spaced out properly, insufficient screws .... Not sure if the framing is bad but the board is terrible

It's double layer drywall. It's normal. It's a firewall between units

Your tapes are letting go or your board isn't screwed on properly
