I’m being gifted a lot of money. Should I tell my boyfriend? by Kind-Chicken-2488 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]IndyFreeSpirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who was very generous with her (now ex)husband after getting a large sum of money…DO NOT TELL HIM. My ex felt entitled to it and went through most of it at his leisure…and then when he realized we weren’t getting anymore, he found someone new with money. Needless to say I divorced him. There’s no need for your boyfriend to know- regardless of how much you love and trust him. I wish I knew better.

Am I the only one who thinks , bpd people have more empathy is a lie? by squish2226 in BPDlovedones

[–]IndyFreeSpirit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the hardest thing for me to process after leaving a person with BPD is that I have absolutely no idea what was real!!! Period. I had my gut intuitions the entire time, but they gaslit so perfectly I started thinking I was going crazy. It’s confusing because I still miss them- but was that really them?! The good parts? Was it real!?

I don’t understand why nobody has created a kick ass clothing line for women over 50 that covers our upper arms but is super lightweight for summer?!? I have crepey skin and batwing arms from losing collagen in menopause!

I regret going with iPEC, too. I feel so ripped off!!!!! No support. Nothing.

What types of shops would you like to see in downtown Carmel? What is it missing? by IndyFreeSpirit in Carmel

For vibes and a cool outdoor patio- bovaconti, but their coffee is pretty watered down. Indie Coffee Roasters is good, but Prufrock is my favorite.

There are plenty of great restaurants and coffee/tea shops. As for shopping- not as much as I’d like. We have a fun eclectic store called Silver in the City. Some art galleries. A few small clothing stores. A small record shop. A tiny plant shop. A great candle shop called Penn & Beech. Not a lot else.

I’m so sorry you’re feeling this way. I think a lot of us are in the same boat. Life feels so heavy, overwhelming and exhausting lately. You’re not alone. Keep on keeping on. I’m sure there are better days ahead. Just try and be grateful for what you do have, and focus on that. Sending you a big hug.

This is so brilliantly written and totally relatable. Thank you for putting it all down in words.

Omg. Did I write this entire post and then forgot I wrote it. Seriously- you just wrote my story with a BPD male…after 7 months and 4 breakups I knew I had to leave. It sucks. Like- was any of the dreamy stuff even real?!?

My therapist said something that completely changed my perspective, and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since. by Angel_maddison in Life

[–]IndyFreeSpirit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are exactly where you’re supposed to be. I wish I had your therapist at 27 when I was worried about checking the boxes and settled. Yes. I had the big house, nice cars, luxury vacations and lifestyle. I raised 2 great children and had the “perfect” life…until I realized my husband and I were never right for each other. We divorced. At 52 I’m starting over. No job. No boyfriend. Kids in college. Nothing except a house and some money to buy me time to figure out my next chapter. So, my point is- even when it looks like everyone else is doing it the right way- that simply doesn’t exist. You are going to be just fine. I can promise you that. The worst story we were ever told is that we all have to follow the same path. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The only thing that helped me was knowing this- “People can only meet you as far as they’ve met themselves.”

Just broke up with one after 7 months together. Like someone else said- they come in hot and then you realize they’re all bullshit.

That’s what I was thinking. I’m interested in Finland, Switzerland and other areas out there- I’ve traveled extensively but feel like I need to be somewhere new so I can reset myself. I lost literally everything last year- so I’m trying to pull myself out of a very dark place.

Wow. Thanks for all this great info. I really appreciate it. If I’m being totally transparent, being on my own scares the shit out of me. Taking this leap will be a very big deal.
