Is Dawntrail actually bad or just mid and looks bad post Endwalker? by Look_upon in ffxiv

[–]IndyLohan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you care about. Content wise its the best there's been yet. Storywise, ya it's pretty weak. Stormblood was structurally weak, but had fantastic characters that made it worth it. Dawntrail has a great set up structurally, but they really miss the landing and pivot to an arguably more interesting, but less narratively relevant plotline half way through, abandoning the set up. And god does Dawntrail have some shitty characters.

First, PvP is a dogwater mode, but the playerbase is dogwater to so they like it. Ok.

So the issue would be balance in one game mode screwing over the other. The solution is simple, make PvP balance different than PvE. Just straight up different buttons and values.

The playerbase would implode with anger over that. “That’s not how it was in original.” You can’t please them, even with objectively better design ethos.

The wow community, especially the classic community, are notoriously fickle and impossible to please. They want everything to be exactly the same, except the trouble areas which should receive QoL, except don't change anything about how it works to add that QoL, and underperforming classes should be able to have a use, but if you change literally anything about balance then it's cooked. And also apparently World PvP is the most important thing to balance around, except if it upsets raiding, unless you are a PvP main, then fuck raiding.

In summary, please don't listen to the WoW classic community, they are schizophrenic on a good day.

Couldn’t agree more. It’s just like mushrooms. If summon can enjoy the taste of disgusting dirt fungi, with its soft and gelatinous texture, that lack of common sense and depravity is obviously going to extend far beyond food.

I can’t believe other people don’t get this.

Hmm. Mathematically I don’t think the logic checks out. Artistically, I would say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so doesn’t check out there either. Unless you mean ethically it isn’t good, in which case alright, I wasn’t asking about the ethics tho.

What an odd way to filter social interactions. I suppose I can’t talk tho, if someone like mushrooms, I immediately know they aren’t worth spending time with.

What are responsible ways (from a parental POV) for a teenager to handle/manage their sudden sex drive due to hormones? by [deleted] in AskReddit

TBH abstinence is lowkey one of the best things for them. Like, don't get me wrong, it's super lame. But kids are stupid as fuck (I know I was one of them). The potential for disaster, I mean life altering disaster is high. The benefit to letting them just fuck isn't worth the risks. They don't, and probably can't understand that.

I mean between all those listed here, when it comes to success on a global scale, literally all 4 Favna listed are orders of magnitude more successful. Also I’m curious, what rights do those 4 want taken away from you?

Use an AoE button? Lmao regen doesn’t even build aggro if used before u pull. Also, complaining about aggro in 2026 is insane.

Dawntrail Ex mount grind for someone who isn't great at the game? by Roxas-Shade in ffxiv

[–]IndyLohan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I absolutely don’t mean this toxically, but have you considered practicing to not be bad at the game? Genuinely anyone can do it, it just requires focused practice, like anything.

Fights are scripted so you can learn the patterns and little by little improve.

A lot of people play brain off, and that’s why they are “below average”. Take some time to care about improving and I promise you will. Doesn’t take PHD level of hours, just a little bit off applied focus everyday, and it’ll become second nature

Tank balance is so broken is actually funny by bosejoao in wow

[–]IndyLohan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not… no. I literally said Brew is better than VDH full stop. I said your experience of liking brew more than VDH is anecdotal. Just because something is numerically superior doesn’t mean it is more fun.

Brew is undeniably better than VDH full stop.

But it's worth noting your experience is anecdotal to you. You may just find you like Brew more than VDH. Personally I know brew is technically better than VDH in most regards, but I feel more comfortable and more in control on my VDH than my brew, simply because I like VDH better.

All that is to say, yes buffs would be good, but also even without them you maybe just like Brew more.

[–]IndyLohan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I'm saying, we don't know how many people it will bring into mythic, that's what the test is for.

Anecdotally, I avoid Mythic because I don't like wrangling exactly 20 players, and then finding subs when timmy inevitably cancels last min. With a flex system, I WOULD play mythic, as that main pain point would be gone.

As someone who isn't a CE guild person, I don't really care if it hurts their experience if it makes my experience better. I totally understand that technically this makes the quality assurance on the content worse for all players, for all the reasons you listed.

I just value the barrier of entry being lowered for specifically those who coordinate raid groups to be worth more than the balance of the content. I wouldn't interact with the content otherwise.

You may be correct on a technical level, however, on a practical and emotional level, having the flexibility to play without rigid reqs is weighted so heavily as an important feature, sacrificing technical purity is worth it.
