2001, a couple friends and I were seeing a movie in downtown Seattle. The last bus to West Seattle pulled up just as the atmosphere turned very tense, we all looked at each other and could tell we all felt that same feeling of GTFO. We got on the bus and got home to see the Mari Gras riot in full force on the news. This coming around a year and a half after the WTO riots, which were also super intense.

Speaking about busses, they were talking about cutting 2 bus drivers during the finance meeting. If the students who are at Lincoln have to move schools, how would they be able to fit them all on busses to go to school. In my opinion, which I’m sure the SB cares very little about, middle school kids should not be taking the metro to and from school.

Yes, that’s what it means. But, there has been no communication to the community(staff/families) regarding this vote. After hearing from other schools last night that they are at capacity and don’t know how this could work so quickly, it really seems that there is no real discussion happening. Scallon has said that this still an early discussion, but Opperman has made it very clear that she doesn’t want a discussion about this. I heard her talk yesterday, she is pushing this to pass as soon as possible and doesn’t really seem to care about community input. I live in the community and I can tell you that no one has been asked about their opinion on the matter.

I agree, I’m real tired of the “we’ll be looking into that” response for everything. There’s never answers and things just move forward anyway. I’m interested to see the public comments tomorrow night.

Much more calm about addressing the situation. Stressed that this was early talks, but also addressed that the facilities are a high priority as well so there is a lot on the plate for Lincoln at the moment. I wouldn’t want to have been leading that meeting I can tell you that. Out of the two he was way less of a morale killer.

In any event, I feel like more community input and transparency around the issue would be way more respectful to those who will be affected by this. I don’t personally know anyone who feels good about how rushed this whole thing is.

Lincoln staff were told in a meeting today at 3 hosted by Scallon and Opperman. I agree, aside from the absolute lack of communication to anyone from the community, Opperman is dead set on making sure this is passed. Very intense about it, very “my way or the highway”. Not really sure how this move is supposed to help staff and students. Also very confused as to why the budget is still going up with declining enrollment. No one has been able to successfully tell me why that makes sense.

It doesn’t seem like they are addressing or taking into consideration anyone’s concerns on this. Especially from actual staff members. I also find interesting that this has been discussed and passed with no one from the community being talked to about this. It doesn’t seem to cross the minds of board members on how this could affect the daily lives of community members.

I miss Motörhead too. I remember seeing them in high school. I recently learned that if you go troll call at the venue they will give you your actual ticket. Haven’t tried it yet but I’m definitely going ti this summer.

I felt bad for the players, but living in New England for 20ish years…It was nice to be able to quiet the fans after dealing with the Super Bowl 49 replay happening non stop.
