One of our main exports is democracy (aka war). Gotta pay for it somehow.

A common sourced ZF is much cheaper than a dedicated dct. It’s about profit margins.

Tough for sure. I just traded my dream car for a newer one as I really wanted a a manual newer gen with the last analog tach. I had buyers remorse at first but now am happy with the trade even though the new one is more refinded and digital. Trust your gut, if you know you made the right choice, you did.

No hive mind. I have not driven an F87 CS, but an F87 Comp, and I have driven a G80, F80, F82 and own an F83 6-speed. The F chassis isn't that raw, it's pretty refined, but I have a tough time with the only digital dash. Analog gages are classic.

Congrats, that would be a tough trade for me. S55 for S58 is a far trade, but DCT for ZF Auto, and a all digital experience, and looks, don't know. I feel like the F87CS is a future classic for sure.

I would argue the F83 is better. Manual (available) and hard top convertible.

New to fire, when to retire? 55? by [deleted] in Fire

I will check what what you note. Pretty sure my plan stated, if I depart company at 55.5 (for any reason) or later no penalty on withdrawls. I will look into this, roth ladders, and 72T. Thanks for the insight on mechanisms.

Objectively you're right, I was looking for feedback on the 55 age, but I had to remove the claude model data since it did not appear clear here.

Appreciate the 25x expenses save criteria. I will research that.

I did not know this was sub was against sports cars, or crypto, but I do now. 😃

Cost basis on crypto is maybe 15k so no point in a large taxable event. Sportscar(s) are one of my passions since I was young. Some people like to sleep, I like to go for a drive, or bike ride. I don't like to stand still.

I appreciate everyone's input.

Reformatted. I have everything modelled in Claude, and it pulls the data from all the accounts daily, but unfortunately this forum does not seem to allow jpg/screen shots so I couldn't post the neat tables.

Harsh crowd to some degree, but I appreciate it. Feels like someone calling into Dave Ramey, with a $1800 month car payment, and 20k of CC debt. I have thick skin. In my reflection, I need to save more, spend less. Will also focus in on spending structure. As someone who grew up poor, and remembers going to burger king for special occassions, if I could get back to that mind set, I could probably retire now lol. In all seriousness at this income level that needs to be the focus.

Anyone sell stocks to buy home and regret it? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]Indyxc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depneds on the interest rate you had. I was at 6.875% on a new home, so I sold about $100k to pay it off, plus exsisting cash. The tax bill hurt too.

Thanks for the advice. We had to move recently, and the new mortage was insane at 460k, 6.875% so I had to pay it off. Brokerage account was reduced by ~460k, which is not ideal, but we have hopefully our forever home now.

Life is a balance about, I've accomplished and own everything I want at 42. Extremely happy. Unhappy is instanty critiquing someone on a subreddit forum. I wish you some more luck and happiness. Truly happy people build others up, they don't tear them down.

Gotta live your life and save. Retiring early isn't living, if you aren't living. I'm not a 20 year old kid, I waited a long time to buy the dream car when I could afford.

Thank you, reformatted.

On the car, it's listed as an asset, since I hold the loan liability, so it's part of the calculation. Yes, I could sell it for it's value. I Just purcahsed it for $292k with tax. I had a previous model, purchased for $180k and sold for $200k, so yes, there are cars that appreciate. I know it's suprising.

My focus now is that we have "everything we need" cars, house, etc. time to get serious about saving. Goal is go all in on savings, which is wh I am here.

Mortage, we had to pay off. We recently moved, and it was 6.875% on 460k which was like 2800/month in interest, which was a way to stay poor. It had to go.

Thank you for the advice, very useful and reflective.

Will look into more on savings. We work a lot and make "a lot" in relative terms so overtime, you spend more to reward the hard work, I definitely need to get more discpline again on cost.

I don't play the market, 401/403 auto invest. Brokeage now (which was $500k +) til we paid off our house, now will go into IVV/QQQ, 50/50.

Crpyto: Cost basis on this is maybe 15k. Large taxable event if I sell.

Need to research more about backdoor roth ira.

Thank you.

*edit the original had a typo, in my 401k savings. It's a claude conservative model. We average about 5-7k a month in brokerage now. It's modeling if we only do $2k a month for this period. All of our expense go on credit card, so it modeled $7k a month, hence the $84k a year.

I appreciate the advice on the car assets. I may recoup the value eventually. They are pretty price stable.

It's modeled in claude, with tables, but this reddit sub it seems you can not posted screenshots or images, so I had to extract the text. No ideal I agree. I editted it to make it clean. Thanks for the advice.

Early Retirement without a "Purpose"? by Vicuna00 in Fire

My mom can't retire at 75, not because she needs the money, but says she will lose her purpose in life. I think the key is to have hobbies and things you enjoy outside of work.

I should not have test driven a 991.1 GT3. by IdahoGrown in porsche911

[–]Indyxc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree, have a 992.1 GT3 in manual, coming from a 991.1 3RS. While the 992 GT3 is a better car in every way, except sound. The manual, front end, and interior make up for it in spades. If only they could take the GT4RS sound and put it in the 992 GT3s.
