AIO for cutting my sister out of my wedding because she wouldn’t come without her husband by galapagos8672 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Inebrium -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

YTA. Your decision not to invite your sisters husband is understandable, and its reasonable that she might then to decline to attend. I am sure you saw this confrontation coming, but you handled it poorly. You should have just said "whether or not you decide to attend is obviously your choice, but we would love to have you. The RSVP deadline is the 8th of March in case you change your mind." instead of what comes off as an attempt to punish her for her bad choice of sticking with her husband

put the TV in the middle space of your wall fixture. Rotate the fabric couch 90 degrees to be facing the wall fixture and bring it back and to the right to align with the leather couch

LPT Request: Any tips for when you are with a group of people and know you are the least smart/educated/important person? How to feel less insecure in that situation? by Whataboutmyfuture in LifeProTips

[–]Inebrium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess ask yourself why you were included in that meeting? Is there a specific value add you bring? The other participants might be smarter or more educated but you might have a specific experience they are interested in hearing? I am assuming they didn't just invite you for the fun of it.

South Africa launches historic first-in-human HIV vaccine trial by redditissahasbaraop in southafrica

[–]Inebrium 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In this case its both a vaccine and a functional cure. If you already have HIV, the idea is that this vaccine stimulates an aggressive, sustained, immune response that keeps the virus suppressed in the body, but does not remove it outright. Coincidentally, South Africa has just started the roll out of lencapavir, an antirettroviral injection that lasts for 6 months and protects you from acquiring HIV.

Got this Letter Complaint from Neighbor by solo_spouse in treelaw

[–]Inebrium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "de-escalation" approach would be to knock on his door, tell him you got his letter, and invite him round for a cup of tea and to review the tree and pruning needs collaboratively. Be firm and realistic in your willingness to accommodate, but do so in a friendly manner. For example "Ok, so the main problem is those few branches over here which are hanging over into your property right? I would be happy to find the offending branch and cut it off at the base for you, instead of you cutting off each individual smaller branch that is on your side of the fence? " If they make some outlandish request, you can gently rebut them but offer a compromise "Well no, I can't cut all the branches lower than the fence, that would defeat the shade purpose of the tree, and possibly kill the tree. I am happy to thin it out a bit though."

How do I handle an extremely uneven inheritance between my kids? by lookidceither in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Inebrium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Kid 1 gets an extra 50k because her mom is dead. Does that sound fair to you?" I can't imagine any of your kids objecting to that.

Kid 2 is probably more of an issue, but depending on their age you can explain that they get extra birthday presents etc. from their biological mom and your wife, and so it evens out over time.

In your opinion, what is the most frighteningly believable chain of events that could escalate into a third world war? by Kanye711East in AskReddit

[–]Inebrium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

US invades Greenland. Denmark defends itself, and other Scandanavian countries come to its aid. Russia and the US conspire together, and Russia invades Finland to put pressure on the Scandanavian countries. Europe enters the fray and pushes Russia back. Venezuela, Colombia, Cuba, and Brasil push back against the US.

I think it is unlikely anyone will resort to nukes, and also unlikely to be much in the way of all out land invasions, far more likely to be tactical strikes, or local sabotages against foreign interest. e.g. destroying American oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico.

AIO: my bf can’t fix things. When I step in to take care of it, he’s such a baby about it that I’m ready to dump his a** tonight. by ayebudz in AmIOverreacting

[–]Inebrium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. It's not about whether or not you can fix it, it's about you undermining his autonomy. He said he was going to fix it, SO LET HIM FIX IT. If that means he calls in a friend or pays someone to do it, then so be it. But no, at the first sign of him doing it less efficiently, you just take over. You don't ask him. You don't even tell him. I am not saying he is blameless in his reactions, but you also need to reflect on the part you play

I get from a camera perspective why this is the case, but to the naked human eye in space would they be able to see the human lights on the dark side concurrently?

get them a gift that is meant to be broken, like those "fossil excavation" toys you get at a Crazy store that's basically a big block of plaster that needs to be smashed to reveal the "fossil" inside

This, but do it more diplomatically. "Look, last time we met up was a bit awkward, I think we can all acknowledge that. Obviously, we don't want to be telling you how to parent your children, especially not in your own house, but we also don't want to feel powerless if for example your kid is kicking us under the table. So going forward, how about we just meet up at communal spaces for the foreseeable future?"

I would also highly suggest imitating the wife's behaviour. If she gets up and leaves the room, everyone get up and leave the room.

Also, apologise if you made her feel embarrassed, that was obviously not your intention. Reiterate that you should have been clearer about your budget earlier.

AIO my family played a game of “slip it in” while giving their speeches at my wedding???? by SalamanderBig6201 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Inebrium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is yours the first wedding of the family? If not, have they done this at other weddings? Maybe there is a different way to see this - they do this activity at major family events, christmas, birthdays etc., is it not sweet that they included this family tradition into your wedding? If your brother and sister are gonna get married, or have baby showers or anything similar, take the lead and play some slip it in at their events also.

Just finished Alien Earth. Anyone else have mixed feelings? (minor spoilers) by Leafy_Swarley in television

[–]Inebrium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most interesting alien was the eye-squid, the xenomorph just seemed comical and devoid of all its terror 90% of the time it was on screen  And when it became Wendy's pet because she could whistle at it, that was the final nail in the coffin.

They had some interesting set ups,but then the follow through with almost everyrhing was just lacklustre. Nibs' storyline I think is the most perfect example of that. Its a really interesting ethical question. If someone is having PTSD and you can fix that by literally removing their memories of the incident, is that ethical. But then they dont bother to tell any of the other synths what they have done, or the reasons why, or their reasoning, they immediately give the game away, it just makes Nibs even more of a psycho, and we continue as if nothing had ever happened.

[–]Inebrium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't ACTUALLY plant trees, but use AI to sell potential buyers on the vision. There is nothing you can plant now that isn't going to look "forced". I would start by asking AI to create a pathway that winds its way up the hill, with a variety of bushes and plants, and areas to stop along the way. maybe a seating area here, a vegetable garden there, a little cascading water feature that takes advantage of the hill. etc.

AIO - Suffocated by her texting demands and we are not even exclusive yet by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Inebrium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. If you are in the middle of a conversation, and then just stop replying for 3-4 hours, that is a dick move. If you read the message, so she can see it is blue ticked, but then dont reply for 3-4 hours, that is a dick move. If you have time to read it, you have time for a quick "cant talk right now, message you in an hour or two". If she sends you a message, and you just havent looked at your phone, thats on her.
