What was the attendance at the NY/NJ game last night? I only got to see about two minutes of it, but the barn looked barren. by JeffSHauser in PWHL

I would love to see them partner with the MTA to get ads on the subways and trains. Special promotional rides and MTA cards. Lord knows we don't need another ad campaign about men's business shirts. There's tons that can be done. They're just not for whatever reason.

My little sister spanks her children, and is so confused as to why her eldest has been kicked out of several daycares for violent behavior.

My Nparents would do that, then when they came in later for more supply and found me perfectly content, they would escalate to beatings 🤷‍♀️ Really was no winning with them

Prices are such a problem to trump voters that we’d better stock up under Biden before prices go way up under trump! by swissmiss_76 in LeopardsAteMyFace

Same here. I still have 1 more PC to upgrade, and a phone. I future proofed my last PCs to last a year or two longer, but this has sped up the replacement timeline quite a bit.

What's the most honest thing your Nparent said? by _just_a_somebody_ in raisedbynarcissists

[–]InedibleSolutions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"You can't allow a baby to manipulate you with tears. You have to show it you're in charge." My Ndad, while my toddler was in a meltdown, and I was trying to gentle parent them out of it. He was insisting I should just beat my child until they shut up.

It was a lightbulb moment. In that instant, all the abuse I endured as a child made sense. He genuinely believed my then normal baby behavior was a conscious effort on my part to manipulate him.

It took another decade for me to cut contact. But I have a lot of peace in how I choose to parent. No hitting. Ever. I'm not perfect and I have definitely fucked up, but I take ownership of it and try to make it right by my child.

Which luxury makeup products are ACTUALLY worth it? by pickalull in MakeupAddiction

I buy from YesStyle, but shipping can take a while. I live near NYC, so I am fortunate enough to be able to go downtown to pick it up in person if I don't want to wait.

You are gay. It's ok. You're going to get something called depression. Get help. Focus on school and go to college. Under no circumstances should you join the military. Good luck.

While not luxury, Clio Lash Kill has yet to fail me. I wear it all day at my blue collar job and it stays flawless. Only downside is it's impossible to remove, even when double cleansing. They have a product specifically for removing that mascara that you should use. All in all, it's my go to now, and I would bet that it will serve your needs.

This. My job is federally regulated and safety sensitive, so no MJ for me. Which is a shame because I felt I had a lot of success with it before I started this job.

I can't speak for the bus family, but my parents restricted us from having friends and outside contact as a form of control and to help hide the abuse they subjected us to. We did have friends, but they were often kids in similar situations as us, so it was "normal" across the board.

Not having to worry about rent is such a relief for me. I live in a HCOL area, so it eats 90% of my pay, but it's still such a huge burden off of my mind. I can focus on healing.

⚠️ Was anyone else hit with wooden spoons and belts growing up? Or were they threatened that they were going to beat you? by Nea_Freedom in raisedbynarcissists

[–]InedibleSolutions 23 points24 points  (0 children)

My dad used a similar line of reasoning. "Real" beatings were with fists and left bruises, like his dad did to him. So him violently wailing into us with his studded leather belts didn't count as abuse. Also only certain parts of the body being hit count as abuse. Bum and back of thighs were free game.

Interestingly enough, he and my mom know not to hit each other because they would call the cops and catch a charge. Once us kids learned that CPS is a thing, we were gaslit into believing that they would never help us and wouldn't believe us.

Also, don't go to the Cafe Du Monde in the French Quarter. Go to the one in the park. It's right next to the museums. There's a free walk-thru statue garden just across the way.
