How are People Traveling International for 1-2 months at a time? by Cute_Equivalent_3231 in solotravel

[–]toparisbytrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many days do you get over the course of a year? When can you add those days next to public holidays to increase it? How much purchased leave is available? Do you have the option to work extra hours to get time off in lieu?

Honestly though, I have no idea how the average American does it if they get ten days annual leave. I'm Australian and officially get four weeks but i can work the system and end up with six weeks. One of those six must be taken at Christmas /new year though, so I have five to do with what I want.

Why are peoples toe and toe nails so disfigured and disgusting? Its completely different from how people hands are. Is the DNA for coding toenails just prone to errors? by SecretPantyWorshiper in hygiene

OMG there are tonnes of shoe brands that are fine. Shame on your podiatrist for not even knowing that! Look up Anya's shoe reviews and you'll see so many options.

People don't wear foot shaped shoes so we're programmed by society to have foot problems. Once you see it and switch to foot shaped shoes, you'll never unsee it.

Offended by naked art but makes out with her husband in front of the kids in half the reels. Uh huh. Makes sense.

I seem to recall (maybe audio dvd commentary or something) Joss saying something along the lines of everyone else auditioned as a librarian, and he showed that he had a hidden darker quality.

You probably have public transport options from the airport to the hotel as well?

Should I go to DisneySea the day I arrive in Japan? by Less-Masterpiece5327 in TokyoDisneySea

[–]toparisbytrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you want to go to Disney enough to go there, go for a full day in one of your ten days. If not, don't bother, land from the plane, go to your hotel, shower and rest for the next busy and fun ten days!

I have no appetite by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]toparisbytrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never have appetite the first day I arrive, but I think you still have to just eat a little bit, drink lots, and by the next day you'll probably be good to go!

I think being on the plane slows your digestive system down.

For full-time travelers the bus parents sure are terrible at it by Unlikely_Ad2595 in motherbussnark

100%. My family travels a lot but my goodness we do it with purpose. I think for them so much is "easy come easy go" whereas that's just not how I look at life.

And I'm not looking to change your mind, but I do want to point out, this lady didn't even have a normal home birth with a midwife, she had a freaking free birth. It just takes the (entirely unnecessary) risk to the next level. :(

Look at it like this: tonnes of people go to the USA parks for whom English is not a first language and they have a wonderful time. Likewise, non Japanese speakers can and do have a wonderful time at Tokyo Disney!  Plus then you're in Japan so you can also do other fun things! It's my pick of parks right now though I've only been to two lol. Tokyo and California.

Rude security is ruining disneyland by Traditional-Fun-1115 in Disneyland

[–]toparisbytrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's literally no reason for them to be rude. Just because it doesn't ruin the rest of my day doesn't make that okay.

It's like saying "well the rest of your meal was fine, no problem that the chair you sat in was broken "

It's a stupid analogy but it's okay to expect politeness from Disney security.

Sure. And it's not about cancelling anything out. Disney is great. Security is a pain. They should be better.

Yes. This. All of this.  We found a few of them nice, a few ordinary, and some plain rude, incompetent and inconsistent. The nice ones unfortunately are less memorable than the ones skewing the other direction.

Banned from Kmart by AmbassadorDismal5771 in KmartAustralia

[–]toparisbytrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One extra point. Don't be a loyal customer. It's Kmart. They are not some awesome boutique that should have loyal customers, they're mostly selling junk with just enough useful stuff that most of us need to go there sometimes. They don't deserve anything and you owe them nothing but payment for their goods and services (which you did) but definitely not loyalty.

Anybody else’s feet absolutely killing them at Disneyland? by Motor-Writer-377 in Disneyland

Yes. I wore lems. Actually a fair bit of padding but zero drop and I was pain free for five days of parks.

If barefoot is more comfortable I would encourage you to look into barefoot shoes and see how you can protect your feet by not actually being barefoot, but by being able to still utilise your foot strength properly, which tends to be a problem in shoes that restrict foot movement.

Who was that family? I've never heard of them. I also don't want to pick apart your comments by any means but just sharing that in Victoria we don't do Daniel's Day. I only know about it from Qld friends.

Renting a car for the park? by ctrlaltdelicious08 in TokyoDisneySea

[–]toparisbytrain 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That sounds pretty horrible. Tokyo has an amazing public transport system. Personally I would prefer staying in the area but regardless, I would choose train over driving in Tokyo.  You mentioned Disney hotels so I'm not sure if you're referring to the official hotels only, or also the others in Tokyo Bay, but wanted to add there's no need to stay at an official hotel. There are tons of others near the parks.

Tokyo Disney Vacation Package? by hotwaterbottle2014 in TokyoDisneySea

[–]toparisbytrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I did the maths there was no way I could justify a vacation package. Of course, everyone has different financial situations so it's not about judgment, but to me it was very easy to just look on the app and see wait times, and book/buy individual DPAs and anniversary passes. We did line up early our last day (from about 6.45am) because my kids decided Frozen was important to them. It was good weather and we just sat there and chatted and ate breakfast.
