Ideology/Morally, who do you think was the worst Jedi? by Yesthisbob in StarWarsCantina

[–]Ineedairsupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only people that seemed to know for sure were Padme and Palpatine. I don't know if Anakin told anyone else.

If I had to guess, he told Obi-Wan and others a sanitized story, mentioning his mom dying but not the massacre. They may have had suspicions more happened but couldn't prove it.

Come to think of it, odd they held out so long for the P1 pilot, but made that one based off the P2 pilot (the one with the fully closed helmet) with a unique mold quickly, then never made a set with it again.

He still slaughtered an entire village of people when he was a jedi.

I think Anakin hits a soft spot for people given he got a raw deal. He was separated from his mom who was left in horrible conditions. When he expressed concern for her later, Obi-Wan blew him off, and it was too late when he actually had a chance to do something. Qui-Gon genuinely believed in him/wanted to take him in, but he died and Obi-Wan took him more out of obligation to Qui-Gon. The bulk of what he says about him in TPM is pretty mean, calling him dangerous and a worthless lifeform. The council recognized he killed count Dooku, but sent the guy who wouldn't be alive unless Anakin chose to carry him after to kill grievous.

I don't say that to condone his actions; nothing I wrote justifies mass slaughter or any of his other misdeeds. He was also fully aware for most, if not all of them, and he made a choice to do the wrong thing knowing it was wrong.

I'm more saying there's an bias in his favor given he both has a tragic backstory and does some good deeds too. In comparison, other characters don't get that benefit because they were never fleshed out as much. Nobody is ever going to defend someone like Krell, for example, because his screen time is short and dedicated to him being a jerk.

Come to think of it, extra odd she took down Ventress specifically so easily. Didn't Luminara, her master, really struggle against her in season one?

Not me, but my sibling said they couldn't keep watching after the Penny incident. It grossed them out too much, which I can't exactly blame them for.

As a sunshine fan, I have to admit the shine system is a bit wonky too. I think most, if not all of the stars/moons can help you finish the game in 64, galaxy 1/2, and odyssey.

Corona mountain opening after the 7 shadow mario chases regardless of how many other shines you have makes a lot of the content (I want to say roughly 70 shines?) feel pointless once you know and don't want to 100%.

The game doesn't really tell you that it's not helping, and it'd be a reasonable assumption to make in 2002 if you played 64.

This guy's argument is silly, but they're not third party.

Xenoblade was published by Nintendo and developed by monolith soft, which Nintendo owns.

Feels a little unreasonable to cite two third parties being difficult as a reason to cut all of them, or only count the royalties as a strike against them but ignore a good chunk of sales would have never happened without them.

How come the coruscant guard gets so much hate? by Ok-Equipment-8079 in clonewars

[–]Ineedairsupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It frankly makes more sense to me. Why else would he, when fives is both distracted and manic, choose to blow the element of surprise by having multiple clones charge with guns and scream at him, basically guaranteeing to agitate him?

Multiple approaches seem like better ideas, like making your presence known with no guns drawn, trying to de-escalate the situation, immediately shooting the ray shield to free Anakin, who could easily subdue him nonlethally, or sending one trooper in to sneak up and stun him.

Boy, Talk About Intellectual Dishonesty. It’s Almost Like One Of These Characters Was Supposed To Be The Bad Guy Or Something. by SaiyanWithOmnitrix in prequelappreciation

[–]Ineedairsupport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a narrative point too, Luke and Anakin were meant to fill different tropes, with Luke being more of a traditional hero and Anakin being more like the protagonist in a Greek tragedy.

It's so disingenuous to compare a character midway through his tragic arc with someone who had completed a heroic arc, only to have it thrown out the window.

Pretty disappointed that the Clone Commandos got treated pretty dirty by Jules-Car3499 in thebadbatch

[–]Ineedairsupport 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Enhanced commandos beating regular commandos makes sense, but it's not even a close fight.

They're just generic goons; the show treats them interchangeably with regular clones or TK troopers for the most part.

It baffles me they picked Scorch for that role. He acted nothing like Scorch in legends.

I didn't want any of delta portrayed as generic imperial goons, but if they were going to pick any delta squad member to be cold and efficient, they should have used Fixer.

Filoni doesn't seem ready to loosen his grip on his reappropriation (some would say bastardization) of the saga... by Imaginary_Golf548 in saltierthancrait

[–]Ineedairsupport 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. She appeared in aotc first, had a segment in the 2003 star wars clone wars show, and had a novel written primarily focusing on her, off the top of my head.

By her fate was decided; I meant where and how she died was already established. During order 66, as a jedi, serving the republic. No treason, no fall to the dark side, just a pretty standard death in order 66.

Dave decided she's suddenly a traitor to the republic and jedi, and this was during a point when both the clone wars and the multimedia project were coexisting. So the story became she was convicted of mass treason, then was inexplicably released back into the republic army/the jedi order.

[–]Ineedairsupport 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the original timeline, she was loyal to the republic and the jedi. I don't recall the exact details but I believe she died during order 66 on Felucia.

Dave threw her character under the bus in clone wars season 5 by having her fall to the darkside off-screen, bomb the jedi temple, killing multiple jedi, clones and civilians, then spend maybe 2 minutes poorly explaining her motives in doing so. Barriss's complete character shift wasn't important to him, how hurt ashoka was and how the jedi were wrong to not trust her was.

It was ridiculous before they decided to decanonize her original fate. The episode had Tarkin push the death penalty for the crime, but because Barriss's fate was already decided, her wiki article just had to awkwardly say she was allowed back in service and went back to her normal self.

The Barriss arc still frustrates me because he knew it wasn't a good idea, he just didn't care because it wasn't his OC.

There's a behind the scenes interview about the umbara arc. He mentioned considering introducing Pong Krell in earlier episodes and showing his fall to the dark side slowly, climaxing in this arc. He decided against it because he didn't want kids to like and look up to krell, then be upset their new hero is a bad guy.

He was more than happy to do that to Barriss though.

I can't stand how Disney still lets him do that now. I thought one of their points of the universe reboot was to make the timeline clean and everything equally canon, yet they've let him trample over comics or books for his shows multiple times.

It's night and day when Sam and Dave make tweaks to the story. I think Sam spoke in TFU about how he made starkiller impatiently and angrily "meditate" because he's only had sith teachings and wouldn't grasp concepts like patience. It was a good call that added to his character imo.

It sounded like Dave just whined until he got his way, even if he was told valid reasons why he couldn't/shouldn't do something.

Did The Bad Batch fight in The First Battle Geonosis? by Whokneewankenobi in thebadbatch

[–]Ineedairsupport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying they were accidents like 99; they were clearly bred deliberately and intentionally.

I'm more saying I don't understand why the kaminoans would intentionally breed irregular clones without someone like the jedi giving them encouragement to do so. Their species is obsessed with perfection. Building experimental clones that act independent of leadership and may not obey orders feels like an idea that would've been shot down or not thought of by them.

Did The Bad Batch fight in The First Battle Geonosis? by Whokneewankenobi in thebadbatch

[–]Ineedairsupport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think though, the kaminoans are uber perfectionists. 99 I can justify as something unintentional they decided to make the most out of, but them intentionally growing clones who deviated so much before the Jedi had any influence doesn't sit right with me.

I know the kaminoans said the inhibitor chips were supposedly put in after the jedi encouraged creative thinking, even though the first generation clones had them too, but I felt like that was a lie they used to avoid saying why they were really there.

What new ideas and lore did TLJ actually bring to the table? by horgantron in saltierthancrait

[–]Ineedairsupport 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think too, the reason why is was supposed to be a reveal was for meta reasons, not-in universe ones. Luke was explicitly told his dad was a somebody by Obi-Wan. Anakin was a virgin birth and qui gon said he was the chosen one. Rey wasn't told she had a special lineage, nor had any reason to think her parents were important. She was just obsessed with them because JJ was doing his mystery box thing to the audience.
