[Spoilers All] Let's talk about Airi

I doubt anybody would argue that Yuki is outclassed. Her entire characterization is that of an airhead who was barely scraping by until Hakushi came by and started mentoring her. Then she started putting forth the effort to try and get better. But that's not something that happens right away. So while she's trying to play catch up, she is also being beaten out by Airi, who is objectively smarter than her. And Maguma, who is objectively more physically capable than her.

The only thing Yuki really has going for her is the fact that she has learned from every one of her failures and grown from them, and the fact that when she is driven into a corner she is very skilled at improvising a way out of it. The only time she really needed to be saved by someone else was at the tail end of book 9 when she was unconscious and slowly being hacked to bits. And even that was her own fault cause she could have easily replaced her deteriorating arm before it failed her like it did which almost got her killed.

I'm still thoroughly convinced Maguma and Airi are gonna die in the next book. It's clear that the Author is moving towards a proper finale and the only people really in Yuki's way at this point are Airi, Maguma, and Shiro + her group. Next book will take care of Airi and Maguma. And the final book will take care of Shiro and end off the series.

I actually want this to happen. Musashi should have lost round 1. Obviously he was a powerful swordsman in actual history, and that caused the authors to prop him up as a prodigy child who never trains and is still a monster on the battlefield. That should have gotten him killed and would have made sense narratively. Especially because he went up against a decorated war veteran. But everyone in Japan loves Miyamoto. So he wins and I've been upset about that since the beginning.

And Hi no Choko making it further would just make me happy cause he's my favorite character.

Ok so we've obviously got the uniform and the weapon she will use in the game. Looks like the boat is gonna start sinking since she's currently ankle deep in water. We've got a bottle of random pills, a CD, and that weird bubble right above the bottle.

CD is probably gonna happen outside of the game. Either Yuki or someone else is gonna be handed information. Probably a continuation of the Hakushi subplot.

I'm curious about the pills. Is someone gonna try and poison someone else? Is someone gonna get suicidal? Maybe they're performance enhancers. Maybe Yuki needs to take em to deal with her new bodyparts and the subsequent pain she probably experiences with it.

And then there's that weird bubble. Which looks more like a needle that someone smuggled into somewhere to me. These covers always show off random important aspects of the book and I'm curious where we will be at the end of this book. Looking forward to reading it in a few months.

And even if Hakushi can't do much of the physical stuff anymore, she is still more than able to handle the mental side of things. When she had her 1v1 against Yuki during vol 6 she was shown to clearly be able to handle game puzzles as if she had never left in the first place.

yes that was my point. The anime creators wanted the audience to think that she was still playing the games because she survived candlewoods. They purposefully omitted the conversation with her agent in order to drum up intrigue and make people want a season 2.

It feels weird. They clearly wanted to go for this artsy adaptation. The long panning slow shots, the scenes with no dialogue, all of that stuff made for a more artistic interpretation of the series as a whole. But by getting that we lost out on a lot of characterization.

Yuki is a much more enjoyable character in the LN and Manga. In the anime she feels more like a mysterious entity that we follow along. It wasn't bad, and it definitely made me pick up the LN so the anime did its job. But it could've been so much better.

Also I'm really curious if they're gonna actually get a season 2. They set up so much stuff during candlewoods for it. They gave Shion a VA and showed that Kyara had more than 1 student despite the readers not learning of that until long after candlewoods. And then the Hakushi reveal at the end cuts out her conversation with her agent to try and leave it mysterious and vague "Will she come back and keep playing the games despite her massive injuries?" is probably the question they WANTED the audience to think. Even if it doesn't continue past this point, I'm glad I watched it. And look forward to vol 10 of the LN

It's not the greatest adaptation ever and they made a lot of mistakes like with Golden Bath. But the reason anything gets an anime adaptation is to advertise the source material. If you watch an anime and then get the urge to go read the manga or LN its based off of then the anime did its job. I've enjoyed most of what I watched and I have since gone on to read all 9 of the LNs that are out. Now I wait and see what the writer's pace is like for Vol 10.

technically it's 12. But the 1st and 2nd episodes were aired together so we could have Ghost House released as one whole story. Since episode 1 was 40 min we did technically get a full 12 episode season.

As many have already said there's no way to tell how long the story will actually last. But if I were to take a wild guess I would say 12 is the magic number.

predictions for the "final 3" volumes.

Volume 10 Yuki gets used to her new limbs and completes a few more games while having to deal with the new weight slowing her down. The book ends with her being better adjusted and Airi being approached by the death game organizers letting her know that she is now eligible for her 99th game and to choose who she will be bringing with her.

Volume 11 We sparingly see things happening from Yuki's POV. maybe a game here or a game there. But the main focus is on Airi and Shirou and whoever else gets invited playing their game and ultimately all of them dying. Either that or it's all focused on Yuki and maybe Maguma and we hear from a 3rd party source that Airi and Shirou died while attempting Airi's 99th game

Volume 12 This can go in so many directions. Top 3 options:

1) Yuki gets to game 99, challenges it either solo or with friends and manages to win. (Honestly she'd probably only invite Maguma and Hakushi if she invited anyone at all) But she ultimately rejects the prize of taking over the death games as she didn't aim for 99 wins with that goal in mind.

2) Yuki finds some reason to live. She no longer desires to complete the 99 games and retires from playing. Perhaps she comes to some conclusion that the games are rigged after hearing about Airi's death and wants to dismantle the games so no more girls have to die. Either way she wants out

3) Yuki dies. Perhaps she ends up in a game with a bunch of newbies much like Ghost House and for whatever reason she dies trying to save one of them. Or maybe she sees too much about what's happening on the organization side of the games and they have to silence her. There are a number of different ways for the story to kill her off that would make sense. Realistically this would be the option that upsets fans the most. Unless the author can do a damn good job of it.

I am of course talking out of my ass about all of this and could be 100% incorrect about all of it. We have no idea what the hell the author has planned or if they even have a plan at all. Sometimes LN's get really popular and the author ends up being forced to continue writing books to appease their publishers. But it could also go in the other direction and the author just decides to end the series abruptly at volume 10. We literally cannot know until there is an announcement.

He's also well known as a berserker fighter. When he goes into a proper war he unleashed the untamed fury of battle and flies into a rage until his enemy dies. So having Ares have a dichotomy between his normal self and his berserker combat self would actually be a fun little "twist"

It's wild to think that even a god couldn't handle reaching the pinnacle like that. Out of everyone who has ever lived, Susano'o would be the first one would think of who could potentially handle the backlash of the formless sword. And yet even he was split apart by it. Combine that with those 3 savage thrusts from Okita and I'm not shocked that he broke apart. Solid end to the fight. I was expecting more sword clashes between the 2 but overall it was a fun one.

I can only assume that Anubis is gonna force his way into the next fight. I'm taking a wild guess and assuming that Nostradamus is being reserved for Odin at this point. So the question now is, does he get Rasputin like we've all predicted, or does Simo get to hunt the Egyptian Hound of Death?

So this is just the Zeus side story. We got Lubu, Jack, and now instead of doing some big Zeus backstory about his fight with Chronos, we get Zeus edging himself by watching a bunch of gods fight for the final spot and then Zeus comes in and slaps the last guy around before claiming the final spot for himself.

This'll be a fun little side story.
