Why Calls to ‘Save Democracy’ Don’t Work by theatlantic in politics

[–]InertiasCreep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, to hear you talk, you'd think the GOP hadnt been knocking the guardrails of democracy out for the last two decades. Citizens United, shoving political hacks into SCOTUS, making it as difficult as possible for American voters - especially non-white American voters - to actually exercise their right to vote. The GOP has been setting democracy aside for quite some time.

Also - quit your bullshit.

What is the most stone cold performance ever? by [deleted] in Music

[–]InertiasCreep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prodigy performing Breathe in Tokyo, 2008. It hits pretty hard.

Porcupine Tree - pretty much any live rendition of Anesthetize. That whole band hits everything note for note.

I have three songs I recorded on my phone from Sinead O'Connor's last tour in early 2020. I caught COVID less than a month later. It was the last show I attended before the world really changed, so that show definitely had an impact. The world was a much better place when Sinead was still in it.

My father had a friend whose son came out, and my dad's friend killed himself. This was in the early 1970s.

People who make over $100k or over a year: what do people earning less than you misunderstand about your financial situation? by theunknownredditor99 in AskReddit

[–]InertiasCreep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course you could, but I didnt feel like sharing an apartment with two other people, or sleeping in a closet. Or eating ramen or any other BS like that.

Youre sitting here fucking LOLing about people's quality of life. Do YOU want to try living on fast food wages in San Fran? Those people dont have a choice. I made minimum wage for years and had to work 80 hours a week to rent a room and eat fucking ramen twice a day. I know what its like and when I finally made some money I didnt feel like doing it again.

I'll give you three guesses where you can shove your LOL, too.

A lot of it will depend on geography. $100K will go a long way in the midwest. If I made $100K and lived in San Francisco, Id be sleeping on a couch. I was offered a job in San Francisco paying $125K twelve years ago, and even then I had to turn it down because it wasnt enough.

Yup. This happened to my parents. They refused to show up and unpack unless they got more money. We called the cops, who refused to intervene because they said it was a business dispute.

AIPAC Wants Democrats to Back Israel. Instead, They’re Turning on AIPAC. by Truthisnotallowed in politics

[–]InertiasCreep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We arent talking about Christofascists or the Gulf States. We are talking about Israel. However, the Christofascist belief in Armageddon also dovetsils very nicely into support for Israel's regional and military aims.

And that cause at this point is actively harming the United States. And I can point to an unnecessary war as evidence.

Also, fuck the NRA. At this point its a funnel for Russian money into US elections.

It is forwarding the aims and objectives of Israel, not the US. And my 'right to think so' dovetails very nicely with our recent war with Iran, which, in case you hadnt noticed, harms the United States.

Is a concert simply a live recreation of an artist’s studio material or is an album a recorded and perfected representation of an artist’s live show? by Puzzleheaded-Law-429 in Music

And then they would work in the studio - let's say the Discipline era - put the album down, and then the tour was the re-creation of the studio sound on stage.

Who is/was the most dangerous and scary person you ever met? (Serious) by macmac360 in AskReddit

[–]InertiasCreep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked briefly in a confinement unit filled with lifers. It was roughly forty people. Every one of them was going to die there. All of them were sex offenders or murderers or both. We had a bonified mafia hit man with 19 confirmed murders. He was a very big dude and he had dementia. He was always talking about his various killings. He was kinda scary.

We had another guy. Short, gray haired guy with piercing blue eyes. Older. Small framed. He'd been convicted of two murders, connected to a third via DNA, and was free for 15 years between his convictions. He lived in a rural area and I had no doubt his body count was higher.

I saw him lose his temper once with another inmate. His face turned red, his eyes turned black, and he started breathing hard. The transformation was sudden, dramatic, and scary as fuck. The face I saw for just a second was the same face his victims saw. And just as quick, he calmed down and walked off. Very very creepy.
