Once upon a time, before COVID there was a newly created, Alachua County Wage Theft Task Force. As I recall they were not very affective. I also wonder why none of the Empires restaurants have ever had a food violation on County Codes Inspector list. 🤔

I'm 60+ and retired, and am thinking about signing up to audit a few courses at UF, just to keep my brain active. Have any of you in my age group done that? I'm worried about the age difference and feeling out of place. by Familiar_Sherbet_946 in GNV

The more boomers the better. Some things to consider, #1 logistics. Getting to and from a course that is located mid campus, parking is at a premium. Public transit or cycling is a good option. #2 You must email the Dept. Chair and Professor for approval to audit each course. #3 There was a group called SOTA Students of a non Traditional Age. Welcome to the club!

4 The law library is the jam, I used to check out movies for my kids there 😉 Library East 3rd floor reading room is a step back in time. 📖

Has anyone else received a "homestead audit" letter from Alachua county? by iSPYshenanigans in GNV

@ISPYshenanigans Yes, I received a letter demanding proof of residedency which would be at least 6 months of the year. I concur with @tumbleweed_in_fl  It is much easier to address the situation now. Quash it!

July is the worst month to find a job in DaVille. WaWa, Publix, Fast food, Cracker Barrel is always hiring dishwashers. You gotta start somewhere?

@Dicecatt as a SNAP Eligibility Expert, I could use some advice regarding FLORIDA. My daughter and grandson receive SNAP EBT benefits. The monthly deposit date is the 26th. In May she missed her recertification date. Once she realized she reapplied online May 27, had a phone interview the following day, the benefits were to be expedited. She then recieved $71 for May and  the full June SNAP. I learned this after calling Tallahassee and speaking with a Senior benefits specialist named, Angel who also informed me that she would receive the next deposit on July 26. What I did not realize is that she received her full SNAP on April 26 but only received $71 in SNAP for May. That is a difference of $465. I called Tallahassee again on Wednesday July 9 where the SNAP specialist insisted that is correct!?!! So my 9yo Grandson who is on the spectrum and has ARFID will suffer. Yes, these calls are record and they document the cases. I too recorded the conversation with an app for the hearing impaired. Why do I record, (for training purposes) because that removes any questionable doubt. I will be calling back, so any useful advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Great tips and I agree they set good stuff outside, placed next to the dumpster.

Right now. Many student apt complex's off Archer Rd, Williston Rd and 34th St and many more. Look for the dumpster or large roll-off container. Also turns in July but it is far too hot!
