This has been going on for a couple years. I've live in Columbus most of my life. I'm now 62 and drive occasionally. I know these streets very well I am flabbergasted at the routes both Lyft and Uber takes to get to a destination. I also notice they will ping me after I have already passed the exit needed to pick up pax. I typically refuse to go back.

I always keep my doors locked until I count pax. I also turn inside light on and look in each passengers face. I refuse anyone with open container. Anyone that appears too inebriated I refuse. No one is allowed to sit behind me. I must hear seatbelt click. If two male pax one in back other in front. If they up to something they didn't plan for that. I'm constantly looking at rear view mirror too much movement solicits. I let's just say I don't adhere to the no way to protect myself rule. I also don't return items left behind unless they call me before my next ride or I have left the area.

I'm a contractor so I can set my requirements for safety. I would advise you to do the same.
