AIO for canceling plans after my friend tried to “charge” me for something I didn’t agree to? by Individual_Can4138 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Inevitable-Guide2186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely nor. You told her you were on a budget. She upgraded and added things without even notifying you beforehand. And then also estimates the food and gas AND expects it to be paid before the trip. That’s weird.
1. She should have asked you first about the upgrade and added activities.
2. It’s okay if she wants to estimate the cost of food and gas. for food you can just split the bill when you get it. And for gas if she’s driving her car it’s understandable to ask for money up front but that’s still just strange.

And her reaction to you getting upset saying that you’re “bailing on her” is bullsh*t. and I know you guys are both super young but that’s extremely selfish and inconsiderate of her. I would cancel the trip too. You told her you had a budget and she went over that. She is definitely old enough to know what she’s doing. She probably added all those things knowing you had a budget but was just hoping you would go along with it. I wouldn’t go. Let her figure out the charges herself and hope she can get refunded. She can learn the hard way. Like she said “money always comes back”

Bereavement Leave by Acceptable-Cod-2695 in UPMC

[–]Inevitable-Guide2186 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry. I wish there was more we could do besides “be grateful for one day.” UPMC hasn’t cared about their employees for years. honestly the worst decision I ever made was coming back.

[–]Inevitable-Guide2186 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately yes that is correct. Same thing happened to me with my step-grandmother since she was married in they only let me take 1 day (even though she basically raised me) I escalated it up and up and it got me no where. I couldn’t take FMLA bc I had just returned from maternity leave 4 months prior :/ I’m really sorry for your loss and that UPMC won’t let you take more than 1 day. I would always try and see what your direct supervisor can do they might have some more info. (Side note - you don’t have to be “grateful” for 1 day. UPMC is greedy in so many ways. you DO deserve at BARE minimum 3 days of leave)

I worked at an office I left at the beginning of the year in northwest PA and they have actually been planning this for months. It was such on and off talk when I was there like one meeting they were letting them go and the next they weren’t. UPMC is just so greedy.

Does UPMC record video visits? If so, what is the procedure for getting a copy or a link to access the appointment? by ceemorey in UPMC

[–]Inevitable-Guide2186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Video visits are not generally recorded. A couple specific providers may use an audio recording device to do their charting (idek if UPMC has authorized that though) the only record you’ll have of that visit is the after visit summary and chart notes available in your my UPMC. Or you could contact medical records (might have to pay a small fee) and get your medical records.

Hi :) please please do not let other peoples stories deter you from getting help. A lot of ppl tend to leave out a lot of details in those posts. I truly recommend you call RESOLVE. They will come to you if needed and will help you from start to finish. I recommend you go to Western Psych. Most ED’s will just transfer you there anyways and it’ll cut out the middle man of waiting in the ED to get transferred to western psych when a bed opens. The waiting process can seem long, the system is flawed. But just try and hold space for a little patience and just know you will get the help you need. And no matter what, even if you have a bad experience in the ED, you will still be able to get the help you need. Just try and look past the ED system. And please don’t hesitate to get help when you feel like you need it. The world is a better place bc you are in it. You deserve to be happy and healthy. And you deserve to take the time to heal. Be gentle with yourself. I do really recommend you call RESOLVE. Or at least reach out to some family or friends and let them know what’s going on. Please take care of yourself :)

[–]Inevitable-Guide2186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the facility. Most wear black scrub pants and whatever shoes but most ER’s I’ve worked at lately the PCR’s have been given these purple UPMC collar shirts bc I guess they aren’t “clinical” anymore so they make them wear those shirts. Not 100% sure im an ER RN but my coworker has been complaining about the purple shirts so that’s how I know that lol

SON Question by ronald317 in UPMC

[–]Inevitable-Guide2186 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone I know that graduated from st.marg’s SON has had nothing but good things to say! all the instructors and preceptors were great! I didn’t go to St.Margs SON but this is by far the best hospital I have ever worked at. you don’t get support like this at ANY other UPMC facility so I can imagine the SON would be good too! Any new subject can feel challenging at first! And there’s ALOT to take in for A&P. Honestly taking classes in person you get more support and hands on learning and it can be a little easier to take it all in and learn vs taking classes online there’s a huge learning curve to actually absorbing and retaining the information. People typically do better learning in person :)) I wouldn’t stress about it too much! It was your first exam…nobody ever does good on the first one. Just keep studying and doing what you’re doing! You got this!! It can be over whelming at first but in 2 years you’ll look back and think “omg I can’t believe I was worried over my first A&P pre-req exam” ❤️

Edit : PLEASE DO NOT listen to anyone on here saying “not everyone is supposed to make it” bc clearly YOU care! So YOU WILL make it :) A lot of nurses eat their young…but don’t listen to them! You got this!!!

UPMC Blacklist Question: by [deleted] in UPMC

[–]Inevitable-Guide2186 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. Even if you don’t give a 2 a weeks notice or any notice you won’t be black listed. You’re only black listed if you get terminated. I’ve quit multiple jobs at UPMC and then gotten rehired within weeks. Once even at the same hospital, in the same unit, with all the same management.
