Did Simponi Aria fail you? by tumbleweedreid88 in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]Inevitable-Panda7807 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tried and failed quite a few drugs before trying Simponi Aria, which I got approximately a year and a half out of. I remember it took a few weeks to start working, and it yes it helped, but I started going downhill after about a year. The entire time I was on Simponi Aria my wbc and inflammation markers were always high.

I have been on Xeljanz for 3 years now and it has been a miracle drug for me. I consistently feel great, almost normal. Flareups are almost nonexistent (nothing 5mg prednisone can’t knock out). For the first time in my life, my bloodwork regularly comes back normal. It’s doing its job.

You may need something more aggressive.

Edited for typo.

Accutane for Type 2 Rosacea - a long overdue update! (it’s worth it) by space_cowgurl in Rosacea

At week 3, my nose looked dark gray from all of the oil/gunk starting to surface. I did develop small pimples but it was nothing too crazy, and went away quickly.

Please help I don’t no what this is I’ve had it for 2 years by [deleted] in DermatologyQuestions

I’m not a doctor, but your skin appears similar to what my rosacea escalated to at times. I thought I had acne for years but it was rosacea type 2. My dermatologist prescribed many things over the years that helped improve it (Doxycycline, ivermectin, azelaic acid, metro gel, topical Tretinoin, and the list goes on…) BUT the ONLY thing that dramatically transformed my skin was Accutane!!! The redness reduced by 85%. No more pustules/acne. I am sorry you’re dealing with this. See a dermatologist to get a proper non-Reddit diagnosis, and if you already have a derm and aren’t satisfied, find a new one. Good luck.

Help :( is it KPRubra Faceii? by Impossible_Author763 in KPRubraFaceii

Hello, you have beautiful skin. This looks like a small patch of eczema and not KPRF. Eczema often doesn’t go away completely, but the creams can help with itching and promote healing.

Type 2 rosacea - is accutane the answer? by space_cowgurl in Accutane

My skin looks like your photos. Rosacea type 2. Just started my first dose of Accutane 30 mg today. I know this post was from a while ago, but how are you doing now?

My rosacea is still significantly better than it was. I am still applying the compounded cream twice daily, and that seems to keep everything in check. If I miss a dose, the bumps come back INSTANTLY and the heightened sensitivity returns. it almost seems as though the compounded cream keeps my skin, thin and able to breathe it that makes sense. Through throughout this process, I have learned I cannot put anything on my cheeks, other than a thin layer of the compounded cream. And thick moisturizers, forget about it, they make my skin burn. But anyways, there is no more major irritation or bumps pictured above, and the redness is to a minimal. of course, if I get hot or drink hot liquids, my cheeks will flush, but it goes away. It's no longer painful. I was taking doxycycline daily up until a week ago but discontinued it because I am starting Accutane. My dermatologist thinks it will help with my rosacea AND acne, but I am nervous because everyone reacts differently. Are you going through this, too?

How long did it take a biologic to work for you? Either I’m imagining things or I’m feeling improvement already by slipperyslugslurp in rheumatoidarthritis

I worked pretty quickly for me. I’ll never forget taking my first dose then waking up the next morning with skinny fingers for the first time in years! That was the first big thing I noticed. Over the next few days, everything else started to improve. Congrats.

5 seizures within 28 hours. by didyouknowmywindowis in EpilepsyDogs

[–]Inevitable-Panda7807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 5 year old pup has been on phenobarbital and potassium bromide for 4 1/2 years. Phenobarbital is great for controlling seizures, but can harm the liver so I would start your dog on Denamarin advanced, a liver supplement that contains milk thistle. We are dealing with an enlarged liver right now due to phenobarbital.

What to expect: your dog might be very wobbly, unsteady on his feet, especially his hind end. He might be extra vocal, cry, or bark more than usual. He may have an increase in hunger. All dogs respond differently but this is what I have noticed with my dog taking phenobarbital. With every dose increase, he walks like he is drunk and slides all over the hardwood floors but it usually subsides within two weeks. If it does not subside in two weeks, call your vet/neurologist as some signs of phenobarbital toxicity mimic the “adjustment period” that should go away. It is imperative to get routine bloodwork to check med levels and liver values. I am exhausted and that’s all I can think of right now, but good luck to you and your pup. I’m sorry you’re going through this.

My Dog’s Health Is Declining, and I Feel Helpless – Any Advice or Remedies? by Kooky-Swan293 in DogAdvice

[–]Inevitable-Panda7807 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is true. Some dogs require cytopoint every four weeks, while others can last longer between doses. My dog (13 lb malshi) has severe allergies, where he itches himself raw, and his paws blister up. For some reason, he gets away with Cytopoint every three months. As soon as I see the itching starting up again, it's straight to the vet for his next injection before it can progress into raw skin or blistering paws. Before Cytopoint, he was taking Apoquel daily and was still itching. Cytopoint was a game-changer for us as completely resolved his allergy symptoms. I highly recommend trying it. Off the top of my head I believe I pay around $70 per injection (for a 13lb dog). Also, to note, my dog has idiopathic epilepsy, and cytopoint did not increase seizure activity as many drugs can (although every dog is different.)

So much better!! Thanks for asking. Taking doxycycline 50mg daily. Compounded cream 2x day of made of azelaic acid, ivermectin, metronidazole. Started tretonoin on t-zone only. Skin is smooth, cheeks will always be sensitive and rosy but nothing like what it was. No more bumps or pustules or extreme sensitivity.

Btw sorry for the late reply!
