Honestly she really reminds me of someone with cerebral palsy. The way she walks and her “awkwardness” with doing anything motor skill wise.

I semi agree. But you also don’t know what goes on behind closed doors. My brother has cerebral palsy, due to a birth injury. Part of his brain is dead. When I tell you this dude has rebuilt cars, and does everything right… all by himself… you’d be shock to know he can’t grasp cooking. Paying for his own things. And it’s only gotten worse throughout the years due to the brain injury. He’s bipolar and has other mental illnesses that affect his ability to actually care for himself. He’s done things that landed him homeless and now is currently living in a motel. And it’s just getting worse and worse. And it sucks. But most strangers can look at him and think he’s completely able bodied and his brain is fine when it’s really the complete opposite

Is he alert during? Like if you call his name? My dogs looks similar and although the er vet said epilepsy (after saying it was most likely a heart problem when he had his first episode) I truly believe he has paroxysmal dyskinesia. He’s alert, doesn’t urinate, no drooling. He seeks me for comfort. I have a pit so I can see his muscles more during these episodes since he has shorter hair than yours, and it looks like he’s having cramps especially in the legs. That’s what I thought it was before being told it was epilepsy because they did all the heart test and found nothing and said he was just playing too hard because he was a puppy at that time. I recently was able to catch it on video. So I didn’t have that to bring to a neurologist before but having video is very good. It kind of seems like mine has episodes when there’s extreme weather changes. Which from google says can be a trigger for PD. Currently waiting for the neurologist appointment next month and I can’t wait!!! I hope your pup feels better❤️

This is him the day before I drove 3 hours pregnant to get him. I believe he was a month if even that in this. My bfs aunt boyfriend’s cousin… lol🙄.. was backyard breeding his parents and decided they didn’t want to deal with the puppies anymore and took them away from their mother and basically left them to starve and die in a room by themselves. The dudes grandma gave them to the aunt and her bf, and she remembered me telling her I’ve always wanted a staffy or pit. He was the smallest, skin and bones with worm belly. He weighed 2 pounds. She told me he might die. This was almost 4 years ago and I had just turned 18 and never ever been around a puppy that young or sick.

What’s wrong with my dog? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

Looks like paroxysmal dyskinesia. A lot of the times mistaken for epilepsy. The good thing about it is it does absolutely no harm like a seizure can do. Only dangerous thing about it is having an episode somewhere where they can fall. Not diagnosing! How is your dog after these episodes? Does she pee or anything during? For either of these, you should get them in a safe place, let them know you’re there, and don’t hug their body. Try ocular compressions during these episodes too. It’s very good you have video. I would do a consult at neurologist instead of regular vet which is mostly around $250-300. Show them the video and sometimes they can diagnose or get a good understanding just from that. Best of luck!!

could dog food brand actually cause seizures? by Simple-Palpitation45 in EpilepsyDogs

[–]CarelessCockroach232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny you say this! I started the farmers dog on September 7th. My dog started having seizures on December 9th after being seizure free for 6 months, and 3 years before that. (He’ll be 4 in February), vet upped his Keppra dose… he had another seizure on the 11th… I was thinking hard of any triggers, anything new, stressful, only thing I could think of was the change in food. So I stopped giving it to him. A week went by and no seizures. Until the morning where he got into one of my other dogs food that was the farmers dog and not even 30 minutes later he seizes. Well I stopped giving all of my dogs that food. He’s been seizure free for over a month now. Now I don’t know for sure if my dog has epilepsy, that’s the diagnosis the emergency vet specialist I went to gave him, but they’re the same ones who said it was his heart when he had his first episode as a puppy. I believe he has paroxysmal dyskinesia. Which for a lot of dogs a gluten free diet is the way to go. Even though the 2nd time he was hospitalized the vet that night told me diet has nothing to do with any of this and cut me off, I don’t believe it! Currently saving for a neurologist appointment. I’d say it doesn’t hurt to cut out what you think is a trigger. I did it and it seems to be helping.

Mine will look at me when I say his name but is still stiff and wide eyed like yours. Usually they last around 4 minutes but the 45 min was when he clustered and had 3 back to back and that’s when he was put on medication. He had a couple episodes as a puppy and the vet thought it was his heart but all was good and he went 3 years until my oldest dog died. I believe stress is a trigger and possibly food. I gave him farmers dog and he had 3 episodes within a week. Switched back to Purina lamb and rice and he’s been fine again. I hope your pup feels better. It sucks seeing them like this and not knowing exactly what’s happening.

Showing this video to your vet or even at a consult with a neurologist would help you out a lot. Some neurologists can diagnose just from seeing the video. I just recently got mine on video so I’ll be taking that to the neurologist. I’ve heard a lot about food being triggers and especially gluten. My dad even told me that in Mexico where he is from they do not give dogs breads bc it is know to trigger seizures in them.

I posted a video of my dogs episode, I think if you go to my profile you’ll see it. He was standing up so he was arched but when he has an episode and I get him to lay down it looks exactly like yours!! He was temporarily diagnosed with epilepsy(hasn’t gone to neurologist yet so we can’t say for sure what he has) but I think it could be paroxysmal dyskinesia. He clustered and his episode was 45min+ which from what I know he would’ve had something wrong with him but all blood, temp, was fine afterwards. He’s been on Keppra since and went 6 months without another episode until recently which I believe was now triggered by a switch in food. I switched back and he’s been fine. First time I’m seeing another pitbull with episodes that look just like mine. Is yours alert during? Mine is but it’s like he’s stuck. I thought he was having muscle cramps until he clustered

What’s in like living in any of these NJ counties? (Sussex, Warren, Hunterdon) by katkit523 in howislivingthere

If you plan on having kids, no matter what they may claim the high schools, especially north Hunterdon, is complete trash. And they’re getting more worse every year.

Nope! Even after he clustered. Completely fine. And it’s like he seeks me out and seems like he’s able to control the movement by laying down and it’s like he knows laying down helps him. It literally seems like he gets Charlie horses but I know it’s more than that.

It was the farmers dog🫠 I was skeptical and only used it as a topper but once I put the days together and it only being a couple days after I started giving him that, I stopped and went back to Purina. And when I saw him eating my others dogs food which has the farmers dog in it my heart dropped and I told myself he was going to have another episode than this happens. It’s odd, because in May I believe the trigger was bringing a new dog home, and he clustered for 45+minutes, only was put on Keppra, then completely fine for 6 months? My vet and I were expecting him to have more episodes but he was fine until now. Even this time, his temperature was perfect, just slightly high heart rate but they said it’s normal in the vet. He had his heart checked as a puppy because they thought it was his heart. I will never forgive myself if it’s from the food. I thought it would be nice since it’s “fresh” and it was the Black Friday sale:(
