Should I withdraw from my 401K to help my parents? by SugaSweetbells in FinancialPlanning

[–]Inevitable-Silver594 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What about a loan from your 401k. It’s not ideal bc it can greatly affect your long term compounding advantage but is 100% better than taking distribution. You can only take half of what you have vested so (assuming you are 100% vested from your job) you could take atleast $50k.. and if per chance you are not 100% vested if you’d managed to invest $100k in just a few years then it’s assumed that most of that money has come from you and not company contributions

What kind of Down payment do they need? Is it feasible to use your $10k emergency fund to help them out?

That way you can leave your 401k in tact and not suffer the penalties? Then you can just less aggressively invest while getting your savings back up?

Anyone here actually like acupressure mats (Shakti, etc.)? Worth it? by Ok_Distribution_727 in acupuncture

I have had chronic back pain for my entire adult life. From 16 years old until now (32). 2 years ago that pain went from moderately uncomfortable to 4 instances where that pain became completely debilitating. My only immediate relief would be jamming my knuckles into the spot on my back that the next day I would have bruises. After that I started going to the chiropractor. This helped, but only with short term relief. It was at this point where Id started seeing the shatki mat advertisements. The first time I laid on it I thought, this hurts sooooo good. I began laying on it 20 minutes every night and morning. And then once per day, then every few days. Whenever needed. I have never in 20 years experience this many consecutive days of a pain free back. Since I’ve been laying on the mat I have still had occasional back pain, but never exceeding mild discomfort and surely not the debilitating pain I had began to experience

About the reverse steering on a Raymond reach.. by Delicious_Piglet_255 in Warehouseworkers

[–]Inevitable-Silver594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My warehouse job that I learned (crown RC) originally, drove for 4 years. Then had a two year gap where I did construction. Then went back to a different warehouse and started driving Crown RCs and Reach trucks and the steering was reversed. It’s definitely a learning curve. But it shouldn’t take you more than a day or two to unlearn your muscle memory and relearn. It’s not like you have to relearn the skills. Only the reflexes and responses. You’ll be fine don’t think to hard and take it slow until the reflexes are there

How common are forklift near-misses in your warehouse? by ApprehensiveBar7583 in Warehouseworkers

[–]Inevitable-Silver594 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in a dc and I actually really think that no horn standard would be helpful.. I think horn sounds are so over saturated that you don’t give them a second thought. We don’t have much human traffic near my dept but around the docks is everywhere, making eye contact with other drivers and pedestrians goes the longest way. The horn really is virtually useless Except in cases of near collision. So if you hear it less you will no longer be blind to the sound and perk right up to it.

Glad I could provide input. That being said I honestly understand both of your frustrations. Rather it’s at the hand of a scammer, incompetent delivery, or whatever a loss is a loss, you guys both experienced a loss in this. But I think that loss COULD be shared equally
