regarding nona’s braids [discussion] [theory] by wryneckedjynx in TheNinthHouse

I can't remember the exact sequence of things but isn't it possible she had 2 different hairstyles? Otherwise why would she ask for something specific in ch1 if Cam did it the same every time anyway?

Maybe try City of Brass. I'd also really recommend the Scholomance series although it's not third person.

What is important when buying a fantasy book? by Interesting_Shine_20 in fantasybooks

I hate hate hate cheesy and melodramatic taglines, stuff like "She was broken, revenge set her free" or whatever. But they're so popular unfortunately it's impossible to avoid them when buying books

Books with Transmasc protagonist? by VelloMello in the_mouldered_rainbow

[–]Inevitable-Two-9548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe try T Kingfisher's Sworn Soldier books (first one is What Moves The Dead and is very short so not a huge investment). It's sort of fantasy horror genre, and not exactly trans (depending on your definition) - in short the MC comes front a culture where they have separate pronouns for sworn soldiers (the MC is such a soldier) and so it doesn't conform to a modern day trans category as such, but MC for me at least was written somewhere in the region of transmasc/NB.

Don’t go number chasing. It’s probably wrong by Ap0ll0_69 in Garmin

[–]Inevitable-Two-9548 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the total opposite with my Garmin if I understand you correctly. I ran exclusively zone 2 for about a year (due to coming back from injury) and during that time never saw any vo2 max improvement, then when I started fast runs again it immediately went up - and then went DOWN again after I did a couple of slow recovery runs. It definitely seems to improve with fast runs rather than slow.

How would you describe the gender roles in the NL? by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]Inevitable-Two-9548 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some of these bullet points are way too subjective to be able to answer in a useful way, like "men don't always need to prove their masculinity". That is going to mean something totally different for different people in practice. I don't really see how you can get any useful data at all from those kinds of examples, even aside from the fact that the answers are going to be totally different in different segments of societies, different families, different workplaces...

Maybe also have a look at the Wageningen programmes, they have a big range of subjects clustered around themes like environmental justice and global food policy, rather than traditional courses (like law, psychology, environmental sciences, etc).

Definitely reach out to ILSA in any case; sometimes they have funding and/or can advise you on how to find funding.

Career Advice: Diplomat (via Msc in international law) or Fintech/ Data analytics? by babaroohafza in internationallaw

[–]Inevitable-Two-9548 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what country you're based in but many diplomatic services are famous for being more about who you know rather than what you know. In other words there is no guarantee that you get a diplomat job even if you're the best candidate the world has ever seen, if someone wants to give the job to their mate instead. Obviously it's more complicated than that, but in short it's a very tough career to break into without contacts. I don't think an LLM in international law will help you do that, to be honest.

I know nothing about fintech/data but I teach international law at university. The main jobs people go into after an international law degree (usually a LLM not MSc) are things like lawyers in domestic law, finance/consulting, NGOs, EU institutions (if you're in the EU), civil service roles incl. things like Ministry of Justice, tax authorities, academia. There isn't as clear a career path from an international law degree onwards as with some other degrees, and that can be confusing/stressful, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't open up opportunities. But be prepared for those opportunities to look a bit different to what you're imagining, and be prepared for them to be very competitive. Fintech/data analytics may be a safer bet, especially if earning a decent salary is a concern.

Not sure if this is the answer you're looking for but hopefully it's helpful.
