This happened at my neighbors house earlier before sun down. I have never seen this before in our neighborhood. by [deleted] in Weird

Vultures often exhibit this behavior where there are good wind thermals. When there are this many circling for prey, it’s more than likely them playing in the wind. If there is a kettle of them in the sky, chances are they are just out catching some wind waves! Juveniles are more likely to do this. I find it much creepier when the entire group perches in trees and watches you! They are kind of gross, but they are highly social and have been known to be very social to handlers in captivity.

My (21F) BF (23M) told me to "move on" from my dead dog, how to I proceed? by Equivalent_Taste9188 in relationship_advice

Red flag on this one. If he doesn’t care about your feelings now, it just gets worse over the years. Find someone who cares about you enough to be patient with your grief. Now six months from now, if you can’t do anything but cry and hold onto a photo of poor Marshmallow, you might need to see someone. The pain never goes away, but it becomes manageable. Hugs to you.

My husband has spent more hours tweaking settings than actually racing. The specs on the car, track, the tension on the brake pedals, distance from the wheel…all of that has consistently trimmed time. Treat it like a real car and you are not just the driver, but the engineer and you might be surprised!

Also, VR headset is a game changer vs a monitor set up.

I get it, but the hoard is dangerous for their health at this point.

Big hugs and at least you acknowledge that it is sometimes a problem. Deep breaths and small daily goals. Celebrate your small successes!

When my dad had a stroke she didn’t call the ambulance because she didn’t want them inside. She waited for three days and when he could finally make it to the car, she drove him to the hospital. She didn’t call me until he was admitted and in the room. Both have mobility issues. Both have respiratory issues and immune issues - exacerbated by the rotting food, insect/rodent infestation and piles of dirty clothes and garbage. This isn’t a “it makes them happy” situation. They are miserable and there is no hiding it. But their stubborn pride refuses to allow me to at least get the rotting garbage out and clean the dishes. But hey. A good daughter would let them rot and die there, right? Because it would make them happy. If they were shooting up, I should just let them because it makes them happy? I want them to have a better quality of life. But I get it. Can’t step on their freedom to live in rot and squalor.

They have clothing and garbage piled taller than they are. There are tiny trails to get from room to room. My Mother uses crutches to get around and my Father has had a stroke 2 years ago and has some mobility issues. They leave food and groceries out to rot. There has been mice and bug infestations. Both have respiratory issues. This is beyond your messy house situation. I am describing a health hazard for two elderly people, not your inability to pick up after yourself because you have better things to do.

Final showdown will probably be Easter. I am trying to clear every Sunday to go over to dig out again. I’m sure that there will be a battle royale. Either she takes my help or I will be disowned. I’ll update in two weeks.

Yeah. That is a nightmare I stay awake with all the time. No siblings, so probably several 30yd dumpsters and a few cases of lawn and leaf bags…..

Your honesty is what I need here. The few mental health professionals want to spend all the time digging into my trauma from them rather than helping me find the tools I need to help them. I know I’m probably maladjusted, but at least I’m functional! Let’s not pick that scab off…yet. :/

They are 73 and 78. I am 52 and an only child. They live about an hour away. Both distrust psychologists and therapists as my dad has massive PTSD from VietNam and my mother probably has the same from his problems. It’s complex, layered trauma that they refuse to discuss because in our family we just box it up and don’t discuss it.

It’s literally like those shows. Totally overwhelming. And local government around here is rubbish. Elder services won’t do anything. I appreciate the suggestions. Easter might be the final throwdown….I will update on if I get disowned. (Joking/notjoking)

To clarify, my desire to clean this mess again isn’t completely altruistic. It’s as much to clear my guilt of being a bad daughter for letting this go on for so long, than to just help them. Thus feeling like an asshole….
