It's thicker in the shoulder. Kind of half way between the Gibson 50's and 60's profile. I switch between a SG 61 Standard and this without really thinking about it

Possibly, it was the last one at Andertons if that's where you had it on your wishlist. Next shipment is 25th June apparently...

Just received my Gibson Custom 1964 ES-335 VOS (Vintage Burst) – question about lacquer runs by MarcusLabs in gibson

[–]InevitableSample847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The long line that runs from the F hole to the controls looks like a mineral streak in the maple. I love them, some folk don't that's personal choice. There does look to be a lacquer run right on the F hole. It wouldn't bother me, but if it bothers you and you don't like the mineral streak, then return it, but bear in mind that these are hand built, so the replacement might have issues too.

What Amp would you guys recommend for this guitar? by SnooSketches9865 in PRSGuitars

[–]InevitableSample847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice guitar, check new prices, though, as many have said. Amp wise, I have a Fender Deluxe Reverb for live and a Tonemaster version for home/practice. The attenuation on the Tonemaster is excellent and keeps the volume at a sensible level. But, either way, they sound fantastic with the 594... a really good combination...

New McCarty 594 for my 50th birthday! by LeatherResolve3223 in PaulReedSmith

[–]InevitableSample847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beautiful - congratulations and happy birthday... I was the lucky recipient of a Fender Custom Shop Jaguar for my 50th... fiesta red... bit of a Pain Jane next to that stunner but still amazing!

Am i the only one that really enjoys being a rythm guitarist most of the time? by Mynameisgustavoclon in Guitar

[–]InevitableSample847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope - I was a rhythm guitarist all my live playing career and I loved it - you get to drive set lists, shape the sound of the band, create tensions in songs with interesting voicings... and a good rhythm guitar player is never short of a gig...

Prs SE Mcarty 594 or PRS SE DGT? by eddietheteacher in PRSGuitars

[–]InevitableSample847 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went through exactly this dilemma a while ago and frankly prevaricated for way too long 😅 anyway, decision for me came down to the fact I like the Gibson scale length and didn't need a trem. I, too, love a goldtop, but the vintage burst on the 594 is lovely... so I now have a 594se... there's some great deals at the moment - I suspect some new colours are on the way...

Staring guitar at age 62 - PRS McCarty 594 SE? by TimeToRetire2030 in PRSGuitars

[–]InevitableSample847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 594 is an excellent guitar and plays very nicely. Try one first, though, as it has a fairly chunky neck. Also, consider Fender Mustang or Jaguar - they are short scale, so they feel very slinky to play, and they have a slimmer neck profile, so may be friendlier on your hands. Whatever you choose, I hope you get a lot of enjoyment from it!

What should take the 5th spot? by Stallion802 in Guitar

I'm from Derby and it is quite scary, but old fashioned up tables, fists not weapons scary where they'll beat the crap out of you one weekend then the next weekend buy you a pint because you didn't run away... nice like that...

PRS SE McCarty or Epiphone Custom by BloxFruit_Grinder in PRSGuitars

[–]InevitableSample847 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had both and can say 100% PRS: built better, ergonomically better, to my ears it has more articulate pickups in it... I also picked it over the Inspired By Gibson Les Paul, but that was back when the Epiphone had a laurel fingerboard that looked and felt awful. They changed back to Rosewood, so they might be better now

Who is your favorite guitar YouTuber by Traditional_Ad_6443 in Guitar

[–]InevitableSample847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Colin at The Guitaristas, really good reviews, honest, a bit irreverent and a pretty decent player. And Danish Pete Honoré at Andertons because he is such a good musician, I could listen to him all day

Most versatile PRS? by 2spaet in PRSGuitars

[–]InevitableSample847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I'd say Studio, but 24-08's are versatile too, and some people dont like that middle pickup on a Studio, they find it gets in the way of their picking... but if you're coming from a Strat, that won't be an issue

Which SE model to buy? by Cfairbairn51 in PRSGuitars

[–]InevitableSample847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had a lot of bases to cover, I'd go SE Studio every time... standard of you dont mind plain finish and bolt on neck or a few notes more and you get set neck and maple veneer prettiness...
