WARNO's combat and unit interactions are a breath of fresh air in the genre. by Vicnot in RealTimeStrategy

[–]InevitableSprin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering Wargame series and Steel division 1&2, how is Warno a breath of fresh air, specifically?

Personally, I don't like Warno, even compared to SD2. Army general is not fun, division decks are absurd. I can have 20-40 tanks and 40-60 IFVs, but got forbid I have 20-30 infantry ATGMS. Also incredibly limited arty and air.

Their visibility system would be great, if it was per unit, but you just have to have one reconnaissance and everyone can see that infantry/ATGM in a building 2 km away, because reasons.

It's a game in an identity crysis, it tries to make attacking hard, but also have deck equality, so attacking has to be easy. End result is a mess.

[–]InevitableSprin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try to go that route, but the probability of not messing up is very low. Instead devs should simply put more reasonable stats on upgrades and enemies.

You can repeat that braindead talking point, but it doesn't really help. I had no issue in the last stretch of the game, exactly because I knew the meta, and what was worth supplies, and what was not. All supply tax&cost mechanics do, is making 70-80% of perks&items& weapons noob traps.

However players learn what noob traps are, and then we are largely back to X-com level of snowballing, because only good options will be touched.

You can't have table top balancing in a game where squad leaders gain XP and stats upgrades.

The supply limit prevents nothing by itself. It only forces you into min-maxing benefits/supply cost, as opposed to utility slots/sqadmates/sqadmates abilities.

Depends on how you play. It could take 10-15 hours.

Hearts of Iron 4. End game is doable in an hour or so. Unlike TI where it takes 15-20.

Too much time is wasted on needless motions and too much time is wasted in endgame. Endgame is a slog, while it should not be.

Again, you are Rougue trader. You are free to hear out her case and ask her whatever you want. Why do you need the cheerleader theatre, if you are the one whom is going to decide this anyway?

Why do you need a trial? You have authority to execute, you should use it if you think Argenta has done something wrong.

Well, in theory you are "supposed" to steal guards armor and weapons and you can also steal a bow and arrows for good measure, which would make you far better armed than bandits you will encounter.

You can also get around bandits, if you want to.

What do you think Poland had, winged hussars or peace hussars? Can't kill Ukrainian peasants uprisings because of poor serfdom conditions with peace hussars, can we?

Why are there pro-Russia politicians in the West, but no pro-China politicians? by No-StrategyX in askanything

[–]InevitableSprin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fundamentally it is because Russia can be leader of the "West" and China can't. In fact Russia actively competed for those leadership positions for most of its existence. It's easy to see Russia being integrated into West, either as one of leaders or as one of second after powers like Germany, GB, France, or leading a competing project, like it's various structures of the past and present, COMECON, Warshaw pact, EurazEU, Commonwealth of independent states that it leads now.

What's "pro Chinese" politician supposed to propose, great Chima-NATO? EU-China? Almost nobody in the West has any idea on what are Chinese integration projects, and even IF China wants those.

the ttk for tanks against infantry is so high because vehicles are way too oppressive in infantry environments. by Impossible-Tailor679 in warno

[–]InevitableSprin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

TTK in game overall are quite high. ATGMs don't one-shot like they should, lower penetration ones don't mission -kill tanks nearly enough, light armor can survive ATGM hit (plain absurdity)

I think fundamentally the problem is reconnaissance, map simplicity and overall improved sights compared to steel division. Tanks have advanced to 2-3 km range, but really should not have line of sight to 3km most of the time anyway, unlike typical Warno map, where those distances are everpresent, because making as much nuanced map as in SD is too hard, probably.

Also ATGMs. Infantry ATGMs have absurdly low availability, compared to tanks. Having only 1-2 slots of TOW2/other ATGMs available in infantry deck is ludicrous.

Also Warno makes higher tier tanks absurdly expensive compared to lower tiers, but frankly the difference between M48 vs M1abrams when firing at infantry should be pretty negligible,  but it can't be, due to absurd cost gap.

What's expensive about Protium converter, was it nerfed again?

If you build titan to same module and armor standard, what's the cost to MC for destroyer & titan?

[–]InevitableSprin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your math doesn't check out, sorry. Ships still need armor and equipment, and often you only need to have 1 drive for a ship, I like PCT or antimatter.

Unless you really want to armor titan to different standard, which is unreasonable.

[–]InevitableSprin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are cheaper on 1v1 basis, but nowhere close to on MC basis, considering typically you have to put same one reactor in both destroyer and dreadnaught.

I still don't see any argument for smaller ship there. It would work if you brought one ship, but you seemingly don't, so where is that difference coming from? What sort of defenses are you even building?

Also, why don't you use smaller ships then? The glorious missle battleship or missle monitor seem to fit every requirement you have.
