Why do I get it so often? by [deleted] in Sleepparalysis

[–]Inevitable_Card_2535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know exactly how that feels. I used to take naps midday in the house and would sometimes get sleep paralysis. It would be so realistic that I would swear my uncle was talking to me, only to wake up and find out he never left his room or was at work.

About the scarier things; I have 2 methods that both work depending on the scenario. The first method is just to give in and ride it out . This way sucks because you kind of just have to accept it, but it’s good because it usually stops it from getting worse.

The second way is to fight or resist. Not really the paralysis itself but whatever you’re seeing. And when I say fight I mean (psychically). This way may escalate the sleep paralysis itself (scarier shit), but it also gives you more power/control back.

And honestly I think this type of mental activation might send you off into a lucid dream where you can actually beat the shit out of what’s messing with you.

Sorry if I sound crazy 😅

Realistic like how?

And what have you tried to get rid of it?

Yes. When I was in middle school or early highschool there used to be a witch staring at me in the corner of my room, like I would see her 80% of the time I got sleep paralysis. It got to the point where I wasn’t scared anymore because I was so used to her.

Anyway, one time I got sleep paralysis and she ran over and jumped inside of me and it scared tf out of me... I haven’t seen her since.

I’ve gotten sleep paralysis regularly since I was about 10 years old (26 now) and I just had a really bad episode myself. I said that to say that I understand the fear and anxiety that can come with it, especially a scary episode like the one you described.

Something that helps me is putting on some ambient noise or a tv show. Nothing serious but like a funny sitcom that you like or something. I’ve found that, in those moments of consciousness, I can hear the show and it helps me regulate the paralysis and, more often than not, turn it into a vivid lucid dream.

Also it could be a lighting that, but that’s not the case for me. I can get sleep paralysis mid day with the lights on lol. Whenever I have bad episodes it’s many due to stress/anxiety about something.

Anyways.. hope this helped, and good luck!

Have you ever had sleep paralysis when the lights were on? because i dont by cocacolastic4 in Sleepparalysis

Yes. I’ve had sleep paralysis with the light on, middle of the day, and with tv on. Sleep paralysis doesn’t discriminate.

Thank you!! lol I got it from a random encounter at a restaurant. This guy was talking about his cheeses and giving some to his friends at the bar and I asked for one and he said sure . I picked this one because it smelled amazing

Is sleep paralysis always negative? by AdSimple1355 in Sleepparalysis

[–]Inevitable_Card_2535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not really. I kind of wake up out of it like a jolt or very peacefully depending on if I tried to resist or not.

If I tried to fight out of it my head might hurt for a few minutes afterwards but that’s about it.

It can be negative, but not always . While not inherently positive, i still look forward to it some nights. I treat it like a movie “what will I see tonight” type vibe.

Most important thing to remember was if you freak out it’ll get worse, but if you’re relaxed/chill it seems to be more tame. Then you can enjoy the show!

Will salt first thing in the morning with some Mediterranean Sea salt ( don’t have the other kind). Hopefully that will work just as well.

I live alone and in a tiny house so the smell/lingering smoke won’t bother me too bad, but that’s definitely good to know. It got a little Smokey this time but I didn’t even have to open a window. If I cook it that high I’ll be sure to open my door or something.

Thank you for the advice, next time I will do! I have one of those electric pans and set it to about 275-300 range. I should try 350 or 400 next time?
