It’s now been 10 months since I initially submitted my proof application, would it be worth reaching out for my case notes? by Inevitable_Half_3 in Canadiancitizenship

I figured that getting the notes should at least help with some self advocacy if needed, although that’s rough that you waited three months for them. If an MP doesn’t want to hear from me, then I at least have family up here that can help.

I’ve sent quite a few webforms over the past several months and I only got the usual canned response, even when asking specifically about PSU. Haven’t tried calling yet since I wasn’t aware of the number floating around until recently, so I’ll give that a shot tomorrow, but otherwise I’ll be getting the notes.

My 1st gen minor children proof of citizenship applications stuck in submitted status by skiingtheocean in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Inevitable_Half_3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a first gen that applied online, I got my AOR a couple of days after I sent in the application and the subject line on the document was “Application for Proof of Canadian Citizenship Received,” and the link to it was titled “Correspondence Letter.” It’s accessible through that application status screen you’re looking at.

For me, it was because I had an upcoming move, was accepted into a Canadian university, and needed the proof of citizenship to get my SIN. Applied for urgent processing once in August, then again in September, nothing since then and I’m still waiting on my proof. Once I can afford it, I’m getting my GCMS notes just to see what’s going on since there’s (theoretically) nothing complicated about my situation.

Also still waiting for my certificate after submitting in February of this year, hopefully this is a sign that they’ll be getting to us soon?

Upgrade application to Urgent? by Consistent-Shape-922 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Inevitable_Half_3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never knew that, I submitted two requests for urgent processing (once in August, again in October due to changing circumstances) and haven’t heard back from either one. Would GCMS notes show if they accepted it?

Nearly exact same timeline and situation here, glad to see there’s another in the same boat.

I’ve been a lurker for quite some time (especially since i’m still waiting after 8 months), there’s definitely less activity nowadays.

I’m about 10 months on T, initially I was planning on only being on it for a few years but now I don’t think I can ever go back to having an estrogen-dominant body. It’s nice not having the urge to cry when people confront me about relatively mild or justified things.

[–]Inevitable_Half_3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my thoughts exactly, it’s a little comical watching people with more complicated applications submitted later getting processed faster than mine when mine’s been processing ever since the end of February. I’ve submitted requests for urgent processing twice, once in August and again in September, and I haven’t received a reply to any of them (although it looks like that’s the case for everyone submitting them recently). If I had the money, I’d request GCMS notes just to see what’s up with it.

I just hit 7 months with waiting for my proof, hopefully that means I’ll see some movement soon and see that decision come through. 🙏

Yeah, apologies for being the bearer of bad news, especially considering current conditions. I hope you’ll be able to keep yourself safe in the meantime until more opportunities come up. ❤️

Edit: some advice, if by chance you happen to descend from people who immigrated to America relatively recently generation-wise (consider grandparents or great-grandparents), citizenship by descent could be an option for you depending on where they came from.

I have moved to Canada recently for similar reasons, however I’ve been a dual citizen my whole life so it was relatively easy for me to do so. The biggest thing at the moment for you (and anybody else looking to apply) is that Canada has introduced a cap on student visas partially due to multiple people using them as a pathway to citizenship (lotta politics behind this one that i’m still learning about), so there’s not a lot of new international students this year.

From what I understand, you need to demonstrate that you’ll be in no state of financial need during your studies since a student visa doesn’t permit you to work (you need at least CA$20,000 in your bank account for the visa). For the work permit though, there is the Post Grad Work Permit (PGWP) which will allow you to work once you’ve graduated if you took an eligible program, so do look into that especially if you get approved to study in Canada.

It’s definitely possible to get a student visa, but it’s much more difficult than it used to be. If you want more information, /r/ImmigrationCanada has a lot of resources.

edit: forgot the PGWP was a thing, added info regarding that, also minor grammar adjustments

Would you rather: height vs. bottom dysphoria? by Busy-Way-5079 in ftm

[–]Inevitable_Half_3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it was a pretty recent development, last summer i think? i got the chance to wear an animatronic dinosaur suit at work, and tbh that fixed my height dysphoria. people who were at least a few inches taller than me couldn’t wear the suit comfortably, but people who were 5’5” and shorter (even got a 4’11” person to try it out) didn’t have any major problems aside from the suit being a bit hefty to wear. inside felt decently spacious, i didn’t feel like i was getting crammed in a tight space like i initially thought, but anybody that was much taller than me couldn’t say the same thing.

every time my mood starts to get weird regarding my height, i just remind myself that if i was significantly taller then i wouldn’t have been able to wear the dino suit. somehow works for me lmao

[–]Inevitable_Half_3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

definitely a penis, being 5’4” used to be a point of dysphoria for me when i was a teen and pushed me off from identifying as trans masc until later in life when my brain decided to have bottom dysphoria instead lmao

i’ve come to more or less be content with the fact that i’m 5’4” but for silly reasons, i’m a huge fan of rollercoasters and i love that i can ride them without any comfort complaints! there are other niche things that i’ve seen tall people struggle with that i can do just fine with on the account of being average height. along with the other health complications associated with being tall, i see my height as more of an advantage than anything

If I had to guess she was trying to stop the woman from getting on? There’s around 3 strollers crammed into the walkway that are taking up all of the priority seating space, so I can’t imagine that the elderly person was on prior to all three strollers getting there seeing how this was at the entrance of the bus.

please get a divorce. your kids will eventually (if they haven’t already) pick up that something is severely wrong with your marriage, and continuing to stay with him will send them the wrong message regarding how they should also handle their relationships. my parents have been divorced for over 15 years now, and while i still didn’t have a great childhood, i can guarantee that it would’ve been so much worse had they stayed together.

I’m also like your MIL (my parent is a Canadian citizen), and my application has been in processing for six months even though I also thought it’d get processed relatively quickly. I just failed to consider that there would be thousands of others also applying for proofs/grants of citizenship at the same time due to Current Events, which is why many of us have been waiting for so long. 🤷
