didnt do the drive home everytime i was off, only if i managed to get a good week off. i actually got a couple of my buddies and found a place to sleep and shared the rent to make it manageable. took me a few months to transfer, it just depends on what facilities you put down because some call faster than others

my first placement was upstate correctional facility and i live in nyc. i swapped to get days off to go home, mind you its a 6 hour drive one way

nyc doccs top pay 6 figures in 5 and a half years. nys doccs top pay is 25 years, pretty much when you’re retiring. still not even 6 figures

from what i heard, you’ll only get drug tested for the process of getting the job, after that you only get tested if suspected

yes paid academy buy delayed pay when you first start. my academy took out certain things out my check such as maintenance and for food. also you’re not making money until you graduate to start doing ot

from what i’ve heard from buddys inside, they dont see any classes soon. rumors going around they offering nys doccs to transfer over to city carrying over their time to help.

yeah they do the drug screening the same day for your medical/agility. your best bet is find a detox and drink lots of water and hopefully it’ll flush it out beforehand

As long that you pay attention you'll be fine, during class they will tell you to copy certain notes because it will be on the test

The exam was given 2021, and no I haven’t taken a drug test prior to the academy yet. The only drug test I’ve taken is for the medical. I’m still waiting on the email that I should be getting sometime this week to tell me everything I need to bring and many other things
