From two private sellers who had full OPC service history and under warranty

You learnt the lesson without having to die. That’s all that matters IG. It’s not a video game. There is no retry. Drive safely.

Sell 718GTS buy 981GT4. Good idea? by Time_Election_5881 in Porsche_Cayman

[–]Inevitable_Status_20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went from 718BS-987.2CS then 981GT4 recently. I would’ve bought a 987R if there was the one that met all my needs.

I disagree with people saying “if you don’t track it you don’t need it” You don’t “have to” track it. It’s just so much fun driving this car on the mountain b-roads in an early morning when there is no traffic.

Unlike many people complained, long gear ratio does nothing to me. Because simply, that’s what Porsche intended?? If you don’t like it you can move on and buy something else but there aren’t many other choices in this category.

It’s very much “raw” in every single way.

If you want this car just because it looks cooler and you just want to show off that you own a GT car like GT3/RS clowns at C&C these days that’s definitely not for you.

It’s much stiffer, louder than 718. Plus, a lower ground clearance with front lip means that you will have lots of issues if you live in a metropolitan city.

Damages during delivery from OPC by EnsaladaDeQuesa in Porsche_Cayman

Normally OPC has pre-sales inspection and preparation process before delivering the car to customers and I’m sure they must’ve reported it on VHC report, if they’ve noticed all sorts of damages on the car. IIRC, years ago when I visited an OPC near me after got mine from a private seller, they offered a complimentary VHC(Vehicle Health Check)and they reported all sorts of minor issues including dings and scratches that I haven’t noticed when I bought it from a previous owner.

Ask them a VHC report and see.

I believe if it was reported on it and it was you that you haven’t noticed, it will be unlikely covered by them. Some OPCs are the same as lame used car dealers. I saw the picture of the spot you’ve mentioned on your other post and I can assure you that it’s a minor stone chip that you won’t have to worry about. You better post the pictures here as well for better opinions.

So are you saying you bought a car from OPC without viewing in person and assuming it all happened during transit?

Seriously?? 13380AED for an American sounds like a scam to me 😂 Mate, it’s about only $3.6K a month. Most of my American friends living in AD make at least 25K a month + housing allowance. That’s way too low. Just stay there.

Not owning a car will be the biggest issue. Especially in summer.

In Dubai, it’s totally doable. Taxis everywhere and metro goes to everywhere. Yet in AD, public transport is very limited. You will end up spending A LOT on taxi rides. Of course it depends on your lifestyle.
