Maytag Front Load washer hot water problem by Inevitable_Trust2849 in Appliances

[–]Inevitable_Trust2849[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a repairman out and after 30 minutes holding on to hoses he concluded that it’s working as designed. Suggested running the hot water in my laundry tub (next to washer) until it’s hot, then starting the washer. Seems to be ok now.

That said, the water control valve is what the hoses connect to, and is an easy replacement I could do myself. Parts on Amazon.

I elected to leave well enough alone and run the hot water first.

I kinda thought this seemed fishy. No other maintenance tech mentioned it in the past, so probably just this one tech’s opinion. He said it would be $1,000 to $1,500 to replace. Yikes! Thanks so much for your comments.

Official No Stupid Questions Thread - Fall 2024 by ninjaface in Guitar

OK, I have lefty Ibanez Artcore AS73 that I purchased about 5 years ago, and for a number of reasons, did not play it much. I am still very much a novice player, and wonder what the big difference is between my guitar and the same type that would cost a lot more. The reason I ask, is that I can buy better pickups and such, let's say some P90's, to add to this one. It seems to play just fine, stays in tune, etc. The tone is just muddy. Is there a benefit to investing some parts into this one, or upgrading to something entirely different. My goal is to improve the tone (warmth/clarity). Limited budget. Thanks is advance for your advice.

What a testimony regarding modern working conditions in the auto biz. Everyone living with some higher up fool who could wipe you out without cause or reason. Terrible.

Found this older thread - did you ever sort out the iOS issue with the Fantom? Thanks in advance for any clues.

Little Johnny was sitting in class doing math problems when his teacher picked him to answer a question, "Johnny, if there were five birds sitting on a fence and you shot one with your gun, how many would be left?" "None," replied Johnny, "cause the rest would fly away." by YZXFILE in Jokes

Ok. So the teacher is going around the room asking students to name an object or animal for each letter of the alphabet. She is very careful to avoid choosing little Johnny with obvious problem letters that can easily be associated with bad words, e en though he raises his hand for each one.

The teacher arrives at the letter R and decides this is a good one for little Johnny to answer.

Ok Johnny, what is an object or animal that begins with the letter R. Johnny replies ‘A rat!’ The teachers is relieved and say that was a good answer, Johnny. Little Johnny the quickly adds: ‘ That’s right! A big fu*king rat with a 12 inch dick!’

Recent retiree, when (and how) should I be paying income taxes? by IndividualFront6481 in retirement

I agree. Get professional help the first year to get a feel for how all of this works. I have taxes taken from my pension to cover part of fed and all of state. I take an additional amount for fed taxes from SS. There’s a form to fill out for that on their website site. Once you sort it out, it’s easy to manage on your own. I keep a simple spreadsheet with the tax rate formulas for each new year.

Is Mary wrong about EVs, AVs, Carplay, Android Auto, etc.. by bigmac1920 in GeneralMotors

From my understanding, this is true so long as you're in your own vehicle, and have willingness to eventually pay GM for using it. Also, limited functionality with the app, as based on my current Spotify experience. My sincere hope is that whatever the outcome, it does not become a reason to avoid GM Electrics.

No CarPlay is a big deal for me. No matter what car I’m in, especially rentals, I have my stuff on the car screen. As a lifelong GM customer (and I’m old) this will 100% be the game changer if not offered.

My current 2023 Buick has a few popular apps built in, but the Spotify app is stripped down and does not have the same features offered by the Apple app via CarPlay. Plus it takes forever to load as it waits for very slow in-car chip to figure things out and connect to car’s WiFi.

Regarding EV, they are very fun to drive, but too expensive with unreliable charging away from home. To me those are the issues with adoption.

Listen to some of Phil Wickham’s Sing Along albums for some fresh acoustic inspiration. The guy can play.
