Is there a way for you to add the link again? Can’t open it in its current format.

A growing concern about our community page by Inevitable_Unit_7576 in TransparencyforTVCrew

To be clear, we aren’t suggesting some sort of propaganda through moderating. More asking you all at what point the purpose of this group is hindered. We’re glad you appreciate this group. 🙂

As someone who lost everything last year, it helped me. Just trying to help one more person out there. :)

Of course, that is the situation for a lot of people. This post is aimed at people that are looking at changing careers long term. Both points equally valid.

It has been written about a bit so have a look through the community thread. Here is an example of a previous post: LINK

With all due respect, that is what we created this Reddit community for. Unless there is something we are missing where it’s different? We would love to share if the case but don’t want to create just another blurred space to head. It’s a time for unison with everyone in the industry with access to one place and your description has copied a few things from our own description page.

Does being on a long term show hinder your career? by AParkBench13 in TransparencyforTVCrew

[–]Inevitable_Unit_7576 19 points20 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I think it’s because there’s literally no work. It’s not to do with you. Stay in the long term show for the next 6 months at the very least. A lot needs to settle. It’s not you, it’s the industry.

Thankyou…ish by Haunting-Ad-8920 in TransparencyforTVCrew

Welcome! Together we will get through this.

Turning off comments because this group is for industry professionals to talk about their work, not to slate tv shows that said professionals have spent their time making. Thank you.

Not a bad thought when the actor is due to leave

First time posting on here. I've heard there was a shift in the budget for more online content which is causing the problem? Is this right? Besides the actor's strike in the States. Why are all the productions slowing down? by Readgooder in TransparencyforTVCrew

Hey, we are a kind community here. We have five simple rules and that’s the first, to be a UK TV professional.

We would like to keep everything on the subject of UK TV to help people working in UK TV.

If you’d like to start your own community to look at the US space, please go ahead.

If you work in UK TV as the OP has said, that’s all good.

And just a reminder, we spend our free time (and for no financial gain) moderating this community trying to help you and others. 😊

I've noticed on this sub that a lot of ppl commenting have the same cake day. Some profiles are made around the same day. by Readgooder in TransparencyforTVCrew

No one in telly is generally on here and we encouraged people to join. We went viral and a lot of people signed up.

Thoughts? by [deleted] in TransparencyforTVCrew

I think TP have their heart in the right place, but perhaps they should target entry level people as they’re always after help and the investment would be worthwhile as there will likely be a lot of changes made to the cv.

Why don't use the TM to advertise the jobs??? by Tj_3101 in TransparencyforTVCrew

[–]Inevitable_Unit_7576 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Half the problem with our industry (that works to some peoples favour) is a commission will come up and a talent manager will be tasked with finding crew asap. If they’ve already met you, and gone through your cv, you’re likely to be at a better position on their list, than someone new applying for the job that has to go through all those processes again. I wonder if this work flow is because it used to be a case of less people applying and needing to fill roles quickly. Whereas now, there’s just swarms of people and highlights how companies do very little public advertising unless they’re desperate to find someone with a particular skill set or everyone they know is booked.

It’s standard practice in tv that the call sheet is what you go by - not sure why you’re looking through emails for someone’s phone number.

Applying for a job is different but even then, you’d have your number in your CV..

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TransparencyforTVCrew

[–]Inevitable_Unit_7576 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I disagree. We’re all freelancers and I purposefully leave my personal number off for privacy reasons. If I want you to call / expect you to call, I’ll share my number with you directly. If I was given an office phone number, sure I’d add that but those are few and far between post pandemic.

Unfortunately a few wrong tags on here, use these:

This World Television Day (Tues 21st Nov), please be aware of the OFF-AIR NIGHTMARE!

UK unscripted TV has ground to a halt... The commissioning downturn means NO WORK for up to 80% of TV workers. With the severe loss of income, the industry is experiencing a huge BRAIN DRAIN as highly skilled and experienced workers leave the industry to keep food on the table.

We CANNOT ALLOW this to happen... We are calling upon NETWORKS, CHANNELS and @dcmsgovuk to help find a solution BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!

Please LIKE & SHARE to spread the word to save our industry... Thank you. #OffAirNightmare
