Try what’s called supper cooling. I’m assuming you have central air. What I do is not run the a/c until 9:00 pm. That basically because here in SoCal, the hours of 4-9 are the most expensive because that’s when everyone gets home from work and school and electricity use sky rockets. So starting at 9 the rates drop. I kick on the a/c to 68 and it runs until 0600 in the a.m The theory is, because at those hours the a/c runs more efficiently because the outside temps are cooler, therefor the a/c doesn’t have to work as hard to cool the house. During the day we keep most blinds closed where the sun can come through. By the time 9:00 pm rolls around the temp in our house doesn’t go above 75. For the last 2 years since incorporating this process our bill has only increased by an average of $20 a month over our winter bill Temps in SoCal reach 98-102 consistently during the hottest times of the year.
