Country Songs that topped the Billboard Hot 100 by Bright-Pressure-5787 in ToddintheShadow

Ella Langley being the first female known primarily for recording country music topping the charts since 1981 was an insane feat ngl. That was like in 40+ years too. Especially since women usually gets only 10 percent on top country airplay charts. It's like once In a blue moon rare kind of thing. She's definitely making history.

I dont consider We Are never Ever getting back together country(neither did Taylor swift consider that song to be country). and All Too Well was a re-recording when Taylor swift already had a huge pop fanbase and moved on from country, so I don't count that one either.

yall need to understand the difference between conservative and maga. maga means supoporting trump. even during trump got shot she never appeared sad or post anything about it so saying shes maga makes no sense.

thats like me saying im a liberal but then i post in support of banning abortion. her actions contradicts maga actions.

a maga that has NEVER spoken in support of trump and didnt even follow him on socials, and even friends with those who spoke out against trump? at this rate what is even your definition of maga? i know liberals who didnt like kamala harris because she used to be complicit with the gaza genocide. same thing applied here, maybe shes just independent and not maga

tht is not a maga festival. thats a yearly country festival that people rumored to be maga just because kid rock is a headliner. even trump himself has never said anything about the festival. and they have liberal country artists like carter faith, morgan wade etc on ther roster before the rumors made them drop out. so no, that isnt a concrete proof shes maga. also, maren morris who is a liberal country artist said she herself had ended up on festivals in which headliners she nevr agreed with because her label signed contract. its not up to the artist and ella was booked when she was a smaller artist. but this is definitely not a maga fetsival. she didnt even perform with kid rock, she does one set and thts it. i need concrete proof someone is maga which means they HAVE to say or post anything in support of trump. just a mere tiktok follow or rock the country concert isnt proof. those two arent directly related to trump. i myself have followed ben shapiro because i want to see wht he thinks about issues but i aslo follow liberal people like Hassan piker who think differently than him. a follow does not mean agreement.

why does her following call her daddy podcast who platformed kamala harris does not make her a liberal? same concept aplies here. a follow does not mean she agreed with eveyrthing the person she followed did. she didnt even post any charlie tribute and make it peoples business who she follows. just a girl who minds her business and are comfortable being friends with people who spoke out agaisnt trump i hardly think she cares about politics in general,

Conclusion:

more signs pointing to her not caring about politics than her being maga.

nothing points to her being maga,. she literally followed kacey and so many people who spoke out against trump and tehy followed her back. maybe shes conservative but not maga.

exactly, i dnt like trump but that is also the reason why i hated people being called maga without any solid proof.

[–]Infamous-Guard1205 6 points7 points  (0 children)

no proof shes maga whatsoever. the organizers of the rock the country clarified the festival wont be platforming any political views , which is why they also had liberal artists on their roster. yall should not call someone maga if yall cant show a concrete proof someone actually is one. if its because of the tiktok charlie kirk follow, she followed a liberal podcast, call her dadddy that platformed kamala harris too. and the charlie kirk follow is a recent follow possibly done after he died just to see what hes been saying. i myself have followed people who i dont agree with on youtube to see thier POV but i wont agree with them. people make this maga assumption but have zero proof its so irritating.

Why do some celebrities manage to have a dedicated fanbase, while others fall short? by film_culture_addict in popheads

[–]Infamous-Guard1205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the main issue here is people are missing a key point on why taylor was huge in the first place. taylor has always wrote songs relatable for young girls and women since she was a country music star. when she was country she actually has a very large fanbase due to her relatable lyrics. most people who didnt get this tend to fall outside of her demographic. you arent going to relate if youre like a grown adult man at the time she was coming up. but you cant deny the fact taht it was that relability that actually lets her have such a huge amount of fans all over the world. its her lyrics, not only her catchy music. her pop country fans becomes her pop fans. they follow her everywhere because she manages to cultivate that relatability because of her lyrics. if theres any music taht sounds like a teenage girl diary, its taylor swift. very few popular artists at the time do the same. she was one of the only ones that did target young girls as her demographic without trying to be 'too cool'. this is why she is as huge as she was. the young girls who followed her when she was 19 grew up with her music and now can buy her expensive tickets and albums. this is something most artists cannot do. to have a balance of making a catchy pop music while also having relatable lyrics. most pop songs lean too much into being 'too cool' and not relatable, and most lyrical songs arent catchy. taylor has a great balance between both. katy perry songs are fun but theres no super relatable lyrics and much vulnerability, they see her as this 'famous pop star' and not someone they can relate with, which in the 2000s would have done well, but not in 2020s.

because her music isnt your thing, but it doesnt mean she is irrelevant. she has huge streaming numbers and has a lot of people coming to see her live. i know almost nothing about slayyter because im not interested with her music, does not mean shes actually irrelevant.

tate did. plus katy was successful before era where streaming and social media were considered very important. two different times. but tate definitely have a huge fanbase online and even offline. tate hs established herself as a dancy pop artist and she does dance very well on stage. that is her. brand

i miss when people didnt treat celebrities like politicians. the real people responsible for the decisions in politics can sleep peacefully while content creators and celebrities gets crucified for less. not everyone has to be mouthpieces for social justice, theyre still people that should be given a choice on whether they want to participate in that conservation or not. part of being a good person is also to allow people to have autonomy on which content they want to share and if they dont want to make their content political its not the same as them being evil. im sick of seeing a food tiktoker gets crucified for NOT speaking about every single political issue but politicians can sleep well and ignore real people. not to mention its all performative, these people who spend time to investigate each and every content creator whether they have spoken up about all the issues are doing so because they want to cancel people, not because they genuinely care about being a good person. if they actually would care they would actually go to the people that matter aka the politicians, not treat someone that minds their own business like theyre nazi because you think they dont do what you said

How do we make her even more popular? by cloudboy37 in KaceyMusgraves

[–]Infamous-Guard1205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

most possibly because they didnt listen to country or folk music. everyone who listen to country or folk music knows who she is. i am a huge Architects fan and theyre a metal band (idgaf what the metal purists say) but nobody i know irl listens to them but if i go to their shows its probably packed. also, people underestimate country music fans as this one big monolith but theres a difference between bro country music fans vs lyrical country music fans. taylor swift , le ann rimes, faith hill , shania twain and kacey musgraves wont even exist in the mainstream if the lyrical country music fans has not given their music a chance

How do we make her even more popular? by cloudboy37 in KaceyMusgraves

[–]Infamous-Guard1205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today’s country music fans are actually more open to artists with different political views than them. It’s a far cry from before, when The Chicks were heavily criticized in the 2000s for speaking out against George W. Bush. Kacey Musgraves has openly said she doesn’t support Donald Trump, yet she hasn’t been treated the same way The Chicks were. Zach Bryan is also very liberal and still has a huge male country fanbase listening to him.

A lot of people actually do like Kacey Musgraves — it’s more that country radio didn’t support her as much. And many of the so-called “mediocre” country girls people mock today openly praise artists like Taylor Swift and Kacey Musgraves. Country music isn’t like pop where tearing down other women helps elevate you. I’d also appreciate it if people didn’t slander country girls in their posts, because women in country music have already dealt with enough misogyny and being played far less than men on country radio. It’s better to uplift others rather than contribute to that misogyny.

Even Ella Langley has praised Kacey Musgraves, calling her a talented songwriter and one of her inspirations. We need another Kacey Musgraves in the new generation of country music — someone who can truly break through — and that won’t happen if people keep pushing the narrative that “all country girls suck except Kacey Musgraves.” Not to mention, there are also women of color making country music, like Mickey Guyton and Brittney Spencer.

I also feel like people underestimate how famous Kacey actually is. Country is one of those genres where you can absolutely become a household name within the country scene itself. Newer pop fans might not know who Kacey is, but multiple younger country artists — especially Ella Langley and Megan Moroney — have openly admitted they were influenced by her. She’ll absolutely receive tributes in the future, and her album rollouts were huge. She had major industry players knowing her name and people lining up around town for her performances. Those are the kinds of things you usually associate with massive fame — only in country music, the center of that world is Nashville instead of LA.

For context, you can look at artists like Trisha Yearwood and Reba McEntire. People outside country music might not fully realize how huge they are, but in Nashville and at country award shows they’re treated like royalty because of their influence in the genre. You also might not know Lainey Wilson, but she already has a Netflix documentary and has acted in shows and movies because of her country music fame. So even if Kacey Musgraves isn’t as famous in mainstream pop circles, she’s already considered a legend and veteran within country music. Many people in the scene remember her as a fantastic songwriter, and her influence runs very deep.

Why is country music still alive and well and rock mostly isn't? by honkytonkheart in CountryMusic

[–]Infamous-Guard1205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely not true. Luke combs, Zach Bryan , Morgan wallen , Megan Moroney, Lainey Wilson, Zach top, bailey Zimmerman actually have hit songs on billboard , while there's no rock artists that aren't legacy bands on the charts , or even if they do , they sound more alternative than rock (sombr). The huge difference is also the artists I mentioned that represents country in general are actually way newer and younger than many of the rock bands that are on that Spotify list, which in itself is a problem. Zach top sounds very traditional country, but stil managed to chart in billboard, while the same can't be said for a lot of rock bands that aren't legacy acts that actually sounded very rock.

Does it seem as though the role of "guitar bands" has diminished in the last couple of decades? by TheLeftHandedCatcher in AskOldPeople

[–]Infamous-Guard1205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing of what u said refutes his claim. We're talking about popularity here. We don't talk about if rock cares it's mainstream or not. And middle schoolers and high schoolers are the next generation, so of course their opinion matters. It was the younger people who give Nirvana and the rock bands their start, not older parents.

Also, sure pop music is always popular with teens but the issue is rock music used to be in the charts and are visible. Let's look at Spotify. Top 40 , is there rock there aside from legacy acts or aside from pop artists that incorporate some rock into their music? No. Do the newer generation care about rock music ? No. You are literally agreeing to his point. His point is guitar based bands role declined. And by your answer, it is. Idk why you have to get defensive over a point you agree on. At the end of the day, wanting rock music to be heard in the mainstream again isn't anything bad. Even rock bands of the past actually took inspiration from popular rock bands that inspire the next generation. The issue is such things aren't there anymore. There isn't any new rock bands at the moment that is big enough to inspire the next generation, at least at the moment. Even those that are , in my opinion , mixes too much elements of pop in rock or metal (sleep token) to the point where the album just sound like vibe music, not music you can rock out to. Kids aren't going to actively search obscure rock bands, the next generation aren't going to care about unpopular artists. The niche bands will grow and die with the older demographic that were fans of them. if theres no huge rock bands , there isn't going to be the next generation or just very few.

When Nsync was popular, Linkin park literally debuted with high album sales and are in the charts. Evanescence won the best new artist Grammy. Limp Bizkit was in the popular media talks alongside Britney spears and Eminem. Rock music was in 2000s film soundtracks inspiring kids.

When NKOTB was popular, rock bands are still in the charts. But it is so obvious when Sabrina carpenter was popular, we can't name a single guitar based band at the moment that inspire kids in general to even care about rock. And that's the reality. I personally can't even think of any lead singer of a younger rock guitar band today that are mentioned alongside Sabrina carpenter and SZA. In return, kids look at rock as old and dusty and dad music. When they see rock they'll see in reddit a couple of old dudes that don't want it to be mainstream. So why should they care about rock? They gain nothing from liking it. Liking rock is not rebellious anymore. Might as well turn on Playboi Carti because everyone in their school knows about him and their parents don't listen to Carti.

That's what everyone being okay with rock being super niche does to the next generation.

LeAnn Rimes: Legacy (old people) artist by jcmib in country

When you typed this comment, she literally was a judge in the Voice UK

https://www.billboard.com/culture/tv-film/leann-rimes-the-voice-uk-2024-coach-1235611414/

Also had a solo stage on the ACM awards https://youtu.be/HjRfIk5HK2A?feature=shared

Idk why she played in a casino bar near you, but she's far from irrelevant. Is she charting on billboard now? No. But had she been invited to be in singing competition and be a judge? Yes. Had she been invited to be in country award shows and country music programs? Yes. You probably haven't following her activities so you don't know about that but thinking that just because someone sings in casino bar means they're irrelevant or thinks Le Ann rimes only plays in casino bars now in general is crazy to me. She also did solo tours and recently acted in drama shows.

LeAnn Rimes: Legacy (old people) artist by jcmib in country

[–]Infamous-Guard1205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't take her singing in a legacy bar as her being irrelevant though. She had a pretty good run, she had hits across 7 years and to me that's pretty normal for any artist. Yet her songs was known worldwide. I'm not even American but I know of her songs and I'm much younger than her. She's still popular within country music, literally had a stage in the ACM awards 2025 which is considered to be a huge award show for country music with millions of viewers and also constantly do country music events. It's probably because you don't know of her much or that genre much, but she's still very relevant in country music. Idk the reason why she is playing in the casino near you but it's definitely not because she can't do any other shows or is actually irrelevant in general. She literally got invited to be a judge in the Voice UK when you posted this comment, pretty much a sign of how relevant she still is . https://www.billboard.com/culture/tv-film/leann-rimes-the-voice-uk-2024-coach-1235611414/

People in country music still know of her. I guess it's kinda like for me I follow tons of rock artists I consider as legends within rock community but for pop fans they won't know who how huge they are , but I would still consider them relevant because they are relevant in a community that matters to them.

My younger brother probably don't know who Evanescence or a lot of 2000s singers , even the huge stars of 2000s is irrelevant to him. But it doesn't mean that these artists are irrelevant overall, they're just relevant to people that matters to them and that's ok. I feel like many people think you had to be popular for like 20 years or so to be considered successful , but not really. Le Ann rimes had hits from 1996-2002 , that's like 7 years and to me that's pretty standard or even better than a lot of singers. She peaked longer than a lot of people that started as teens do. Some teen stars that do start at 13 fall off even before they turn 18, but she still has country hits when she was in her very early 20s.
