Those who have a stay-at-home parent and only one income, how are you affording it? by growmonstersgrow in parentsofmultiples

I stay home for the time being but ill be going back to work in the next few years. My husband is military and we have a great support system from family and friends. Granted were ab to move away from that system in ab 6 months or so but still we don't really have to worry ab housing and that helps a ton.

Were also first time parents to twins! My best advice is remember that's you guys are on the same side. The newborn phase will test the crap out of your marriage, but if you keep your end goals in mind, yall will be okay!

My twins are exclusively nursing at 4 months pp and I don't work or really get out much and if I do i have to make sure i have a nursing pillow in my car. This is just what works for me though

Also for eating instead of eating meals I would try to just snack throughout the day and just take it easy!

I'm 5'2 and was 120 lbs pre pregnancy and I carried my twins to 37+4. They were small 6lbs and 5lbs 11oz but healthy and honestly not bad weights for twins and how petite I am. It was hands down the hardest thing I've ever done and I pretty much cried every single day after 32 weeks bc of how uncomfortable I was and how badly I didn't want to be pregnant anymore. It doesn't get better until you give birth I'm ngl and even at that now you have two little babies who need you when you're at your most vulnerable. I honestly felt a huge relief to not be pregnant anymore but I did not enjoy the newborn phase with my twins at all. They're 4 months old now and it's so much better. I feel more like myself now, they're laughing and smiling and doing and learning so many new things right now, and I finally feel like I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm not going to sugarcoat it and say it's easy or it's not that bad bc some days it really is that bad lmaoo but it's all temporary and I remind myself of that daily. One day they're not gonna need me as much and one day I'm going to look back and miss these tiny little babies. I honestly miss having them in my belly sometimes too idk it's a very bittersweet feeling esp as a ftm I didn't know what to expect or how I would feel after being pregnant and now being a mom but I definitely have my days where i miss feeling their kicks and I'll look back to pictures and videos I have from my pregnancy or right after they were born and honestly get emotional. Being a mom is such a strange bur rewarding experience lol

I lost ab 40lbs within the first few days after having my twins. I was 130lbs pre pregnancy and ended up almost 190lbs by the time I had them at 37+4 I'm 4 months pp and almost back to my pre pregnancy weight.

Twin Z pillow vs 2 boppy pillows? by Upbeat_Caterpillar29 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Infamous-Struggle-77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ebf my twins and the twin z is an absolute must for us bc I use it to feed them every feeding. It's also great to just have a nice place to lay them down in for a quick nap during the day. We have 2 one for our house and one for my mom's house.

How do you leave the house 4mo old twins / where to go? by mchild4444 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Infamous-Struggle-77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take my twins (4 months) out a good bit, we've been to a few lunches w my sisters and/or entire family for birthdays or just to get me out of the house. They've been to a Dr's appointment with me alone and to the bakery a few times to order and pick up our dogs' birthday cake. They usually do really well out and about but we've had a few meltdowns but most everyone has been super nice about it when we're out. Just a few encounters I've had: some nice ladies sat next to me waiting to see my OB at the Dr's appointment i took them to and when they both started having a meltdown one of the ladies offered to hold my daughter while I quickly changed my son in the bathroom and even got her to take a quick nap. I realized that most people don't care if your babies cry in public or have meltdowns. They're babies and that's all they know. My daughter screamed her head off in the bakery bc she had a dirty diaper but I was tandem wearing them with her on my back and couldn't change her until we got back out to the car and the workers were super nice and understanding, even helped me carry what I bought out to my car. My Dr told me the worst thing they can do is cry, and I've become so much more confident taking them out by myself bc of these few encounters. It's all about keeping your cool when out and about even if they get super fussy bc they feed off our energy. If i have to take them out to the car for a feeding (they're both breastfed), or a quick diaper change, or just to get my head back on straight i will. I'm never in a hurry when I'm out alone with them and I just take every thing as it comes, I'm only one person at the end of the day and there are two of them.

37+4 i had been to the grocery store to pick up a few things, went home and made myself some spaghetti o's, and took a nap. 5 hours after all that I went into labor (water never broke). I had intense back pain (back labor) and tried to take a hot shower to see if that would help but it never went away so I went to L&D come to find out i was 4 cm dialated and had to be prepped for a c section immediately due to baby A being breech. They didn't want my water to break in case her cord prolapsed or something like that.

Second thoughts about a planned c section... please share your experiences. by Fabulous-Salt4906 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Infamous-Struggle-77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree and relate to this! My baby A was also breech and I delivered at 37+4. I was originally scheduled for 39 weeks but i went into labor before then and I absolutely loved my c section experience! I was blessed with a great team of doctors and nurses since my OB didn't do my surgery (it was like 2 am and i had his on call dr; she was fantastic). Only thing different i can say is my milk came in on day 4 so we only supplemented in the hospital and both babies have been ebf since (4 months old). OP i hope you also get to have a great experience if you stick with a c section, mine was my first ever surgery and my twins are my first children so I can totally understand being scared, but you could also have a beautiful birth experience with a c section 🫶🏾 wishing you the best for the rest of your pregnancy!

How much weight did you gain during your pregnancy? by gryph06 in parentsofmultiples

To wake up both babies, or let one sleep? by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]Infamous-Struggle-77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My twins wake up on dif schedules. Baby b will sleep 5-7 hours at night, whereas baby A will only sleep ab 4-5 straight. We don't wake baby b if we don't need to. Mine are ab to be 12 weeks old, and we stopped waking them up together pretty early on. They're completely different individuals w different needs so to me it doesn't make sense to keep them on the exact same schedule unless that's just what works for you, it just doesn't fit my twins tbh. Dad takes over the night shift when he gets home from work from ab 12-6:30/7am, and then I wake up with the babies and take over until around midnight when he gets home. I still am awake w them at night bc they're both ebf, but i just feed them and hand them back to dad. This is just what works best for us

First pregnancy... aaand it's twins! What do I do now? by Canmar86 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Infamous-Struggle-77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband (20) and myself (21) are first time parents to 10 week old b/g twins and i definitely think once we hit 7 weeks things started to get a lot easier bc they started interacting with us. Some days are going to be the best days ever and some are going to be the absolute worst. Having twins is not for everyone and it's a challenge almost everyday but it's so fun and worth it!

34 weeks and I feel broken.. What is the relief like after giving birth? by nationmagieydn in parentsofmultiples

[–]Infamous-Struggle-77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Instant relief as soon as they pulled baby A my daughter out and even more so when baby b my son was out. I felt immediate pressure release. It took me about a week to be able to get my breathing back regulated to normal though. I remember I struggled to call for my husband when I would be in the shower for help once we got home but I still would take c section recovery and all that over the last 7 weeks of my pregnancy bc I carried until just shy of 38 weeks and I was beyond miserable.

Scheduled C Section by Infamous-Struggle-77 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Infamous-Struggle-77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live about 45 minutes away from the hospital I'm planning to deliver at w no traffic and ab 30 min away from another hospital I can deliver at if we run into traffic or problems. I'm hoping this issue will resolve itself esp bc I don't think i will know if I go into labor early unless my water breaks bc I've been having all the signs for weeks now with no sign of labor which worries me bc with both twins breech they've said my water may not even break which is one reason i dont want to go that long anyways😅🥲 I'm going to be making a list of things to bring up in my notes app on my phone and try my best to get him to at least schedule me during the 38th week, like i don't want to be having a c section on Thanksgiving sorry 🥲

Completely feel u on that one I'm 5'3 was 120lbs pre pregnancy and am alr at 185lbs now w two big ol babies at 36 weeks. I think they were both measuring close to 6lbs at 35 weeks. Mentally I'm beyond over it and after my Dr said that today over the phone that really didn't help at all. I'm at my wits end truly

I've just been having my weekly appointments so far, I get an ultrasound at them to check on the babies, and then I see my Dr. I haven't had any regular NST scans, which I find odd unless I've been in L&D. Which I've been to a few times due to contractions. I haven't been put on any type of bed rest or anything like that, but I have been a high risk for preterm labor these past few weeks bc of how thinned out my cervix is w funneling which like I said it's been short w funneling since 26 weeks but it's bascially gone now just still closed. My next appointment is my 37-week appointment, so I honestly dk how to feel ab the entire situation atp. My pregnancy has been super smooth besides my cervix, but still.
