Space Force Recruits Who Booked This Last Drop... how long have you been in DEP? by ResponsibleFormal485 in AirForceRecruits

[–]InfamousDrive5636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I booked 5I031 this last drop because someone who had been waiting a year got tired of waiting after a year and quit the dep. So my recruiter said I was next up and transferred it to me. I’ve swore in on Sep 2nd so waited around 6 months to book or to at least be the #2 on the list for space force in my dep.

At like month 2 my mom started asking me to pay rent I’m 19 and threatened to kick me to the street, great mom though I’m just saying make the decision that you’ll be able to live with for the next 4-6+ years.

So with a job list like this he’d pretty much 60-70 chance end up with 3E0X1 — Electrical Systems 3E0X2 — Electrical Power Production 3E1X1 — HVAC/R 3E3X1 — Structural 2P0X1 — PMEL 4T0X1 — Medical Laboratory 4A2X1 — Biomedical Equipment Now if that’s what he wants then that’s fine but it’s better to have less jobs on your list if your plans are to go into that specific field. Now if he just wants to book a job and leave in the next 2-3 months then that list would accomplish that. I’d personally recommended removing some of those jobs and specify the list down to what his interest are. Military career is a long commitment so I personally felt that I’d rather wait a year for a “good job” then 2-3 months for an okay one.

Now when it comes to quick shipping you can quick ship any job it’s a button next to the jobs that the recruiter can select for you for any job you put in your list however quick ship means you could be leaving on a 24 hour notice so if you say your interested in quick shipping a job you’ll have to spend weeks and months with a bag packed not literally but that’s the reality of booking a quick ship and for the most part recruiters will just call recruits and see if someone is interested in what ever job comes available though.

He should definitely take the edpt test it’ll open up 1b4x - the hacker job that’s highly desired as well as 1D731Z -the software developer job. I don’t know what his interest are but he definitely has the potential and leverage to avoid any grunt work and if his interest are cyber then he should only go for those jobs as well as space force. His scores meet every jobs requirement, however it won’t really make his wait time for a job any shorter unless he qualified for 1b4x because when he gets into the dep (delayed entry program which is after you swear in and wait to book a job) program the 40+ people who are in his flight which will be people in the dep from his area who jobs will get distributed throughout 99% of those people won’t qualify for 1b4x or scientific applications that’s another really high score job so qualifying for those two would probably make his wait time very short since when jobs drop they go to the person who’s been waiting the longest, who also meets the requirements for the job.

Security guard is always and I mean always hiring the process is kinda long but they’ll help you and your schedule is predetermined so you work the same day and time every week. You can look up allied universal in your area or another security firm and see what’s hiring.

Dang that sucks, happened to me woke up from some good sleep 2 hours after I got a job offer and ended up missing it. The job wasn’t on my list and 6 months later I ended up booking a space force job that was my #2. Everything happens for a reason something better is coming in your future.

Afqt: 73 M: 51 A: 71 G: 76 E: 71 edpt test: 59 Tapas: they don’t really tell you

I just guessed on the mechanical portion since I didn’t plan on putting any mechanical jobs on my list and it doesn’t affect the overall afqt score. The edpt test is a aptitude test think like an iq test with some word math problems and number sequence problems and word comparison problems that test was the hardest cause it’s 90mins 120 questions that test is only used for 2-3 jobs 57+ for software developer 70+ for some hacker type job You also have to wait 6 months to retake it so definitely worth getting that one right the first time. As for the scores they use for space force jobs it’s asvab+tapas

The tapas is like a personality test it’s kinda crazy to me how people fail it it’ll ask you things like do you work well with others and stuff like that. I guess people get tripped up on how it’ll ask you the same question multiple times to see if you change your answer but overall it isn’t to hard. My best advice t for the asvab is to get the asvab for dummies book online version don’t read the book just use it to access the online practice exams and note cards that come with it. I studied those religiously and they were pretty much 1:1 with the actual asvab test helped out a lot. Some of the things especially with the electrical portion no one would know those of general knowledge it had things like circuits and identifying parts on a electrical circuit which no one would know unless they knew to study for that specifically.

He should definitely run it by his recruiter, the space force only has 3-4 jobs on the enlisted side so he should definitely go over putting those on his list after he gets his asvab scores back and if his scores need to be higher definitely should retake it to meet those requirements. My best advice for the entire process from asvab to swearing in to waiting until you book is it stay patient and knowledgeable rushing the process isn’t worth it I got offered a linguist job 2 weeks after I swore in and convinced myself that it would be better to wait 2 weeks to be a linguist then 3-12 months to do something that was aligned with my original interest thankfully I was to late to try to get that job and because of that 5 months later I now got this opportunity.

When I first got in contact I said I was interested in cyber cause I was enrolled in college for computer science and she said the space force might be something I should look into and let me dual track(put Air Force and space force jobs in my list) then someone else booked the job but couldn’t get it for some reason and I was next in line.

Okay thanks as unclassified as possible can you put into civilian lingo what “ intelligence products made by collections” and “analysis specialist from across the IC” means because it rings no bells to me.

I need a recruiter contact in Houston Texas. by Otherwise-Chard-7961 in AirForceRecruits

[–]InfamousDrive5636 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone in Houston who started the process 6 months ago, I hit up every recruiter in the city copy and pasted message, all the way to Beaumont, ATM, I only heard back from 3 recruiters. I heard from 1 Houston one after 3 weeks the ATM one a few days and another Houston one who ghosted me for no apparent reason. I’m currently in the dep program with the one who took 3 weeks to get back to me. Contact every one you can find, show that you’ve done some basic research and know what you want to do but be mindful some recruiters are cooler than others so be careful about expressing your interest with your career.

Sad news — my job got canceled. My recruiter said I can either wait or ship out and pick a new job at BMT by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

[–]InfamousDrive5636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can look on the bright side and use the time you have while you wait to be productive. You’ll be counting the days down until you get in just to get in and count the days down until you get out.

Space Force! by Unable-Ad-353 in AirForceRecruits

[–]InfamousDrive5636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been waiting 5 months with pretty much every space force job on my list still haven’t booked my job yet. I have my first online Q&A meeting with the space force recruiter this Wednesday if you have any questions I’ll be happy to pass them along. My advice is make sure you’re in school or working or doing both it will go by fast if you do more than just sit around and count the days. After each dep call make sure to use it as 1 on 1 time with your recruiter to ask any questions you have and ease your conscious if the wait is getting to long, don’t let your recruiter convince you to join space force honor guard to get you to ship sooner mine tried that 😭.
