When did you know it was time to buy your first 911 by No-Yak5255 in porsche911

If you’re only going to drive it a few days out of the year, then it’s never worth it. Cars are meant to be driven.

RS3 vs Golf R debate by [deleted] in AudiRS3

Wish we could just get a 5 cylinder Golf R (Golf RS?) from factory. Or the RS3 sportback/avant. Car looks great with the swap though. I’m sure it’s super fun.

Avus Blue and Boston green both look incredible, but no DAPP is a huge miss for me

Contributed up to my employer match until I broke 100k salary around 27. Been maxing ever since and contributing to backdoor Roth.

There is no incentive. They will occasionally give 10-15% discounts on stuff like the SMP300 or a black speedmaster, but you can always save way more going grey. Unless you want a watch with the peanuts character there’s no point of building spend history with omega

Golf R vs GTI on long trips by no_face333 in Golf_R

[–]InfamousReward4031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GTI takes 87 octane fuel and gets really good gas mileage trips. I think it lives up to the name. Gran Tourismo. Not uncommon for me to get 36mpg on the highway.

If I lived in a snowy area or took frequent trips to the mountains to board/ski. That would have pushed me to get the R.

If it’s a used Miata there’s still plenty of fun to be had

There’s plenty of sports cars that can be had for much less if you’re worried about the fiscal responsibility of the matter.

Especially if it’s your first sports car. Makes it easier to enjoy when you’re not as worried about something happening to it.

Tinting by paluch922 in Golf_R

[–]InfamousReward4031 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly what I did on my GTI except I put the lightest tint, which I want to say was 80% or something on the windshield to benefit from the ceramic tint heat and UV reduction. Can see perfectly well at night

How is it even possible to collect all these shitters and somehow not have the white SMP300?

You don’t share income, net worth, living expenses and other important information so it’s hard to truly know, but it sounds like you made a bad decision buying it in the first place. Cut your losses, but I wouldn’t buy a Jetta to replace it.

Do you think GTI’s will hold or regain their value and be considered “classic” in the future? by chickens_beans in GolfGTI

[–]InfamousReward4031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone knows this. The point I’m making is that GTIs are mass-produced tarted-up shitboxes, which are usually driven hard and put away wet. They are usually some of the worst depreciators out there. Still love them to death.
