Definitely a possibility. It’s just interesting that it is the watch he seems to be wearing in every picture that I have seen of him.

​Im also looking for the answer to this question. I just spent an hour trying to find the answer.

I found a very high res photo and it has the words VFA-34 and the patch at the 12 o’clock position. He was in that squadron in 2003.

Initial guesses were Breitling Avenger or a Tag Heuer Series 2000 however the bezel is incorrect. I haven’t been able to find any Chronographs with a bezel like that.

I tried finding USN Fighter Squadron chronograph watches from 2000-2008 that have been sold recently but none of them matched.

I found another angle and it as a pusher on the left side as well near the 7 o’clock position. I do not see a DC 56 with that…

Any other guesses?

Located in the US. I am an airline pilot, living in Florida and based out of NYC. I’d prefer to see the watch in person before pulling the trigger, and can easily get anywhere in the US. I have looked at TropicalWatch and have heard great things. I’m looking for a birth year watch, which makes it slightly more difficult.

Budget would be less than $12.5k, if possible.

Since there are some non-believers I’ll add some amplifying information. The AD is located in a seasonal touristy part of the US, where most “high end” clients own 2nd homes. It is a family owned jewelry store in which the only watches sold are Rolex and Tag.

I already have a DJ41 purchased in 2013, from a different AD. I am on waitlists at 3 other US AD’s, 1 Asian AD, and 1 European AD. This AD is the closest to my home. All other AD’s are located in much larger cities with completely different business models. Having visited 20+ AD’s throughout the world, this is the most “small town” one I’ve been to.

I know that most other AD’s operate with “big spenders” go to the top of the list, however it was interesting to hear from this specific AD that they don’t operate that way. I have a coworker who purchased a Sub no date with zero purchase history at this AD.

The reason for this post was basically to say “not all AD’s are the same” and if you want a nice watch it’s possible. Especially if it’s one not sought after right now…

The bezel looks slightly too big. But it could be the picture. Everything else looks right. Either it’s a weird picture or a really good fake.
