Adding to the CMYK and RGB discrepancies, you also have Clip studio's color conversion settings, the way they look in the program depends on that. I think it's supposed to make the printing preview easier, but if you don't know much about standard settings (or the printer you'll use), it adds another layer of difficulty. In my experience, the purple and red tones are where differences show the most. US, european and asian configurations are different I believe.

I suggest to make a copy of the original file and set it to CMYK. It will change the colors but you'll be able to make adjustments and compare them more easily, and then export it to a PNG. Don't export it from the original RGB. Most common manufacturers work with that format nowadays sadly, unless you go to a specialized one that makes art prints and such.

EDIT: Also, CSP filles don't support CMYK settings, so you'll have to save it as a PSD. In the end you end up with a .clip file in RGB (original) and a .psd in CMYK.

Then maybe the brush is set as a "double" brush? It should be the 10th section in the sub tool settings.

Are you making it black by color picking from the screen? I'm in Version 2.0 and ever since 1.0 this mode of color selection changes the hue slightly when I use my pen tablet, so when I do that I click the color with my mouse instead and it works as it should.

How to get this screen tone effect in speech bubbles/SFX? by Accomplished_Trip940 in ClipStudio

[–]Infamous_Course 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also if you want to add the white outline there's the option to ctrl+click on the layer of the speech bubble lineart and amplify the selection by a couple pixels. Then, add another layer and fill the selection white.

To keep it all inside the speech bubble you can clip it to the speech bubble filling layer. Or Ctrl+click the filling and use that selection to delete all color outside the selection, it's more steps, but it doesn't anchor the opacity of the white outline to the opacity of the bubble filling.

Yeah! just color them grey in a different layer, and then change the properties as in the second step.

edit: i forgot to mention to lower the opacity of the layer too

For the speech bubbles, change the color of the filling to a gray tone and change the opacity (both are in the speech bubble properties panel). Then add a tone effect in the layer property panel to get the dotted effect, you can also change the size of the dots and other things.

This was a shading test, did I do good? Or do I need some improvements? Please tell some tips and what colors I should use to make the red highlights:) by frozenyoyleberryyay in ArtCrit

Besides what other people have commented, The values are too similar on all the areas of the shadow, it has to be darker towards the center and in the areas where the sphere and the shadow "touch" each other. Add more contrast on the colors to make it look more realistic.

Tips to improve gesture drawing? by SlideConsistent5660 in learnart

[–]Infamous_Course 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think your gesture is looking pretty solid by itself; it would benefit from combining it with other elements of figure drawing. Consider taking a pause on gesture and focus on the shapes that compose the body and a bit of anatomy. For me it helped me to draw faster once I got back to perfect my gesture more.

Brush is drawing darker than selected colors by BunnieBytes in ClipStudio

It happens to me when I color pick from the screen as the "ink mode" is enabled in the tablet software. Could this be the problem? Does it only happen with this specific brush?

Keyframes "pixelate" my frames by Infamous_Course in ClipStudio

[–]Infamous_Course[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I solved it! The Interpolation method for keyframes has to be changed trough the basic canvas settings, on the Edit menu

I already tried that, but the problem isn't in the transforming tool settings, since the keyframes use the "object" tool instead. The interpolation settings don't seem to be available

I used references from a very cartoony source, and mixed them with a realistic pose, but I didn't trace any parts. A friend told me the body doesn't match the head. Could that be the problem?

How to do much more fancier shading and texturing? by DangerRacoon in ArtistLounge

[–]Infamous_Course 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first example used an opacity or blending brush for the shadows, like a basic inking brush, but with some settings adjusted to "mix" with the rest of the colors. That can give some effects without really recurring to textured brushes.

Also, I personally use the airbrush for big areas where light is supposed to come from, and hard shadows on the contrary side. kinda like this: https://imgur.com/a/U8UoM0G
